Glenn Hauser logs May 3-4-5, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CANADA. 15034-USB, May 5 at 1324, Trenton Military with `no report
received`` over and over from Winnipeg, Calgary, Cold Lake, Edmonton;
and at 1325 NRR from Comox, Victoria, Vancouver, Abbotsford. The
automaton doesn`t seem to care, but drones on endlessly. One suspects
the problem is at Trenton, not all these other air terminals (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11460, May 5 at 1424, S2-S3 but clear Western classical
music, obviously CNR1 jammer and // another on 11785. Aoki/NDXC shows
11460 one of countless Sound of Hope, Miaoli, Taiwan frequencies with
jamming. My quick survey of WOOB areas from 10 to 15 MHz finds no
others now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, May 5 at 0557, RHC English is S9+20 but suptorted,
unlike 6060, 6100, 6165 all better modulation, with produxion
credits, plugging Sunday programs, and reopening Saturday show a bit
before 0600. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 11860, Sat May 4 at 1754, Radio Martí reconfirmed now
active weekends too on this frequency; atop jamming about same as
11930 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 5980, UT Sun May 5 at 0004, no signal from TV Martí,
and no jamming either, so this new 22-03 UT broadcast remains M-F/Tue
-Sat only. There is however a JBA carrier, presumably RRI Romanian,
which also moved here, in clear at least on UT Sun & Mon (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENINIG DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, UT Sunday May 5 at 0544, TGAV is off already
rather than usual ~0610v* except earlier circa 0400 UT Mondays (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALI. 11640 & 13630, May 4 at 2103, no signals from CRI English
relay, unlike the past few days one and or both audible (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. Awake briefly after 1100 UT May 3, checked for pre-sunrise
Mexicans on lowband MW, but nothing to be heard unlike yesterday on
570 & 590, and many more on April 29, 26. How drastically conditions
may change (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, May 4 at 2114, VP S5 signal, JBM at best. Must be
XEPPM, which apparently leaves at least carrier on all day. This
early, little else detectable on 49m besides 6070, 5830 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 9925, UT Sunday May 5 at 0004, JBA carrier from
presumed Mighty Farty KBC back on reactivated summer frequency via
GERMANY, instead of 5960 which is vacant. That probably would have
still propagated better, but confronted storm noise level. Maybe
something on 7 MHz band would be better in the `shoulder-season`
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, May 5 at 1615 UT, K17JN-D, Enid DTV 3ABN
satellator is OFF the air, all six subchannels; sometime, unlogged May
4 I noticed it was back after dead-air black-screens but plenty signal
on May 3.

Now slight tropo enhancement brings Bad signals on RF 42 and RF 18. 42
is surely KBZC-LD OKC, but 18? Could be repack CP channel for KOPX OKC
but it`s still going on RF 50, both in W9WI.com as 200 kW. There are 5
RF 18 translators elsewhere in OK, none likely here (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN [and non]. 11670, May 4 at 2105, REE poorly audible on its
weakest frequency due to azimuth, but no RHC clash yet which could be
starting at 2100? No, one RHC schedule shows not until *2300 for Rio
de Janeiro. That is when REE closes 11670 at 2300* M-F; however they
usually stay on for several more minutes of IS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1980 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
May 4 at 2100 on WRMI 9955: *2059 just in time with partial IS & ID
loop, but upcut opening of WOR after my first ten words; fair S8-S9.

Also confirmed on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, UT Sunday May 5 at 0329 about 17
minutes into so started circa 0312; S9+10 vs S9+20 staticrashes. Next:

2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Monday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW
0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE
0930 UT Monday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW ND
1815 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania ND
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
0800 UT Tuesday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW [2 editions] ND
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490.00, May 4 at 1752, 2057, no trace of WBCQ-6 super-
station test, unlike earlier at 1540 when I did have a weak open
carrier. Meanwhile, 9330 remains always off-frequency from old
transmitter with TOMBS, such as at 1752; 2058 measured on 9330.04.

7490.12, UT Sun May 5 at 0151, WBCQ with J. P. Ferraro`s `Shortwave
Saturday Night`, averaging S9 discussing the Vietnam war. NOT on #6
but obviously still via old off-frequency transmitter. Earlier at
0004, some other show ``live`` as of ``April 3``, while 9330.1 and
5130+ were JBA carriers only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9265V, Saturday May 4 at 1730, WINB presumably with Unique
Radio from Australia, Tim Gaynor`s `Sounds of Your Life`, on new
schedule, but very poor and wobbly signal.

OTOH, until 1729 I had local-quality excellent reception from 12160
WWCR with `The Talking Machine Show` of ancient cylinder music. Only
an occasional slight selective fade tipped that this was SW. However,
much of the time 12160 is not in solid, too close/too high (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825 & 13845, May 5 at 1322, WWCR gospel huxters are S9+10
with sporadic E boost; by 1424, 15825 down to JBA. But by 1605, DX map
shows estimated Es MUF of 106 MHz with 6m contacts across the country
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, May 4 at 1750, WTWW-1 is S9 on night frequency, but
JBM? 9475 is off; at 1836 still JBM 5830 when ham show should be on.
By 2102, 5830 has resumed PPPP on SFA, still not on day frequency 9475
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, May 4 at 2330-2400 approx., WTWW-2 with `Theater Organ
in the Ozarx` confined about to nominal slot; toward the end heard
some of it on stereo webcast, which was running about 5 seconds
*ahead* of SW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, May 4 at 2055 UT, KLEY Wellington KS is off the air
again; first noted absent May 3 circa 2345 UT, much pre-sunset. Before
then had not noticed any transmission problems (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13660, Sunday May 5 at 1700-1710, no signal via UTwente
SDR, altho HFCC has something brokered by RMI via ISS, FRANCE on days
1/3/5 = Sun/Tue/Thu. Ivo Ivanov assumes it`s clandestine. But
presumably a mistake, as Jeff White says Alameda Bible Fellowship is
running at 1700-1730 M/W/F (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15571.2-USB, May 5 at 1320, VP 2-way in Spanish as I am
making pro-forma check for 15575 KBS so-called North American service:
not a trace of it; while CRI East Turkistan is poorly audible on 15590
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1917 UT May 5

Re: Glenn Hauser logs May 3-4-5, 2019

Glenn Hauser

Correcting time on this one, not 1424, read wrong line in my notes:

** CHINA. 11460, May 5 at 1330, S2-S3 but clear Western classical
music, obviously CNR1 jammer and // another on 11785.

Glenn Hauser logs May 6-7, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CANADA. 15034-USB, May 6 at 1419, CHR Trenton Military, nothing but
``no report received`` from Ottawa, Toronto, Bagotville --- and
Trenton! over and over (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11440, May 7 at 1417, CNR1 jammer at S9-S7, // 11460 about
the same. The other day this was on 11460 only. Aoki/NDXC shows both
as *jammed SOH Maoli frequencies available 20 hours a day.

11580, May 7 at 1419, CNR1 jamming at S4-S6, weaker than 11440 &
11460. Same situation as those.

12190, May 7 at 1422, CNR1 jamming // the others, S9/S9+10. Ditto.

12880, May 7 at 1422, CNR1 jamming, S6-S9. Ditto.

13270, May 7 at 1423, Gander Radio weak on USB but also a carrier, so
I try LSB, and there is another very weak CNR1 jammer. Yes, it`s
another listed *jammed SOH Miaoi frequency.

Someone, somewhere will be reporting some of these as Sound of Hope,
fooled by the Chicom, rather than their jammers. In no case was any
sign of SOH audible here, rather CNR1 probably blotting very low power
transmitters in Taiwan or Thailand, if any.

No other WOOB CNR1 jammers found between 10.9 and 18 MHz, but this:

15110, May 7 at 1426, CNR1 jammer S9/S9+10, atop VOA Chinese via
Philippines this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11880, May 6 at 1418, CRI English conversation about
education, with good modulation --- it can be done! Something`s not
wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SINGAPORE. 11795, May 6 at 1417, poor S3-S5 with declamatory
speech, then less hyper talk, language? Scheduled as BBC Hindi at
1400-1430, northwestward from Kranji (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** TAIWAN. 9465, May 7 at 1313, pop songs in Japanese (``arigato``),
S6-S8, 1320 into Korean talk with sombre music background, 1325 only
instro-music until 1328* without further utterances. HFCC shows this
is something from Encompass ``CHN`` = PRC! via Taiwan, 300 kW at 2
degrees. Aoki/NDXC shows what it really is:
``9465 1300-1329 TWN Nippon no Kaze"il bon ue Kor Paochung 1-7``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 9830, May 6 at 2227, VOT English to NAm is on today but
very poor (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1980 monitoring: confirmed UT
Monday May 6 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+10.

Also confirmed UT Mon May 6 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, S9 vs storm crashes
about same level.

Also confirmed UT Mon May 6 at 0305 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5130.4v, JBA
sounds like me vs storm crashes while on indoor longwire and computer
off.

Also confirmed UT Mon May 6 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, fair but noisy. Was
S9+10 when checked earlier at 0306 with rock music from Prague.

Also confirmed by Franck Baste (St Bonnet de Rochefort, France) F4LKC:
``ROMANIA: IRRS Shortwave - 7290 kHz - [Monday] May 6 - 1815 UT -
World of Radio 1980 (SIO: 444). Rx: Icom IC-756 pro III + SDR Perseus,
Ant: Vertical + Dipole``

Also confirmed UT Tue May 7 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair. Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330+, May 6 at 1755, JBA carrier off-frequency, and 7490 no
signal; no signs of WBCQ-6, 500 kW transmitter testing now or at any
other random chex today.

As of 1608 UT May 7, AW`s last twit was two days ago:

``Allan Weiner‏ @AllanWBCQ May 5 --- Burning the kilowatts here. Still
testing. More this week for the nations superstation. Still much to
do. Classic WBCQ on air 7490/5130 kHz tonight with great programming.
Please listen and support us. Nice day here in beautiful northern
Maine. Fresh air. Blue skies. Any. Moving``.

Among the great programming was another classical music hour, `Encore`
from Radio Tumbril, 0000-0100 UT Monday May 6 on WBCQ 7490v, but I
apologize for listening to mono webcast since I was busy at the
computer.

https://www.tumbril.co.uk/
Website has sizing problem. You need to shrink it in order to see some
linx, such as the Valve at lower left corner which I finally see for
the first time today. And click here for playlist at lower right
corner. I could not reach the current one during the programme, but as
of 5/7 I do see the 5/5/19 one. All of this rather slow-loading. Lots
of good reaxion at
https://www.tumbril.co.uk/coments-page
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, Tue May 7 at 1310, WRMI gospel huxter in English
lamenting that there are ``1600 religions, all of them against Jesus
Christ``; furthermore he is fighting Cuban pulse jamming, always a
risk if you broadcast on this frequency shared with Cuban exile
programming. Scheduled at 1300-1330 Tuesday is `Gospel of the
Kingdom`, and there is NO Cuban programming any other day of week
during this slot, altho there are two DX programs in Spanish, on Wed &
Thu (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475 & 5830, May 7 at 1313, both WTWW-1 frequencies are
AWOL, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENINIG DIGEST)

** U S A. 12050, May 7 at 1421, WEWN Spanish with distorted modulation
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9490, May 6 at 0504, S7-S8 of open carrier, or JBM?
Nothing sked now but both Nauen & Issoudun are registered until 0500:
RMI Spanish via France to Cuba, i.e. R. República; and NHK Japanese
via Germany to ME --- more likely the latter not turned off yet, as I
think RR is not currently really running that late (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser

** CHINA [and non]. 15470, May 8 at 1314, talk maybe Chinese with low
audible het = LAH; ChiCom jamming vs scheduled Radio Free Asia in
Tibetan via Tajikistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 12843-CW, May 8 at 1334, ``CQ CQ CQ DR HLO HLO HLO QSX
12 MHZ K`` repeating over and over and due to inconvenient fades took
several times to copy it completely. EiBi shows this is Seoul Radio,
24 hours. Among the few maritime stations left running V or CQ markers
on HF (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 610, May 8 at 1123 Banda music from SSW, 1126 DJ salutes
listener Amanda, now loops SW, but really same station? 1130 UT choral
NA, another one like 540 XETX playing it at this odd time. Again
trying to ascertain whether XEBX Sabinas, Coahuila still be on air; or
XEGS, Guasave, Sinaloa? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 660, May 8 at 1116 UT, Radio Vida ID in passing, phone(?)
number 17-29-12, approx. from south; seems like a Mexican but none
known by this name. Of course could be a program name, likely
Christian. Usual 660s here are XEEY in Aguascalientes and XEDTL in
CDMX. Per NRC AM Log, the only USA SS on 660 is 75-watt Radio Zion in
Oregon. No, KSKY sked remains in English (Glenn Hauser, OK DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 710, May 8 at 1113, the Low German preacher is instead
speaking acceptable Spanish this time on XEDP Ciudad Cuauhtémoc,
Chihuahua. This one has no problem around SRS surpassing KGNC Amarillo
in similar direxion, or KCMO KC, MO (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 800, May 8 at 1110 UT, Laboratorios Camacho infomercial,
loud and in the clear from XEROK, as KQCV OKC is unusually absent!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 800, May 8 at 1110 UT, KQCV OKC is off the air! So no
need to null it for XEROK. By 1132 recheck, KQCV is back on with some
ministry plugging an African cruise (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 89.3, May 8 at 1817 UT and May 9 at 2315, even at the
Loyal turnoff on US 81, no signal from KIEL. It`s been
marginal/sporadic into Enid, vs the 89.1 translator.

Also missing again, 101.5 KOCD Okeene, May 19 at 2315 UT, but
something weak in English, maybe translator in OKC or Cushing (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1980 monitoring: Not confirmed,
Wednesday May 8 at 2100 on 7490 WBCQ, nor on 9955 WRMI; I`m only on
the PL-880 with telescopic or caradio. WBCQ probably too weak, but
suspect WRMI off, as could detect 9395, and at 2129 recheck, 9955 is
JBA. Confirmed UT Thursday May 9 at 0103 the 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair.

** U S A. 9330.000, May 10 at 0226, gospel huxter at S9+30, much
stronger than WBCQ ever heard here even at night; since not off-
frequency, confident it`s WBCQ-6 on the 500 kW transmitter. Many
others have been hearing this all day. AW`s latest twit as of circa
1930 May 9, WTFK:

``Allan Weiner‏@AllanWBCQ 9h9 hours ago --- On the air with great
radio. 24/7. Testing the big one. Getting close to airdate for the
superstation. Transmitter runs smooth. Very efficient. 75% over all.
Amazing stuff. We need free speech radio more than ever. Support us

Glenn Hauser

** CANADA. 15034-USB, May 11 at 1516, Trenton Military ID and claiming
time is 1515z, still ``no report received`` from Halifax, Bagotville,
Trenton, Ottawa, Toronto; repeating --- (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [and non]. 13270, May 10 at 1406, JBA carrier presumed CNR1
jammer vs SOH; no New York Radio of course. This reference
http://dxinfocentre.com/volmet.htm
says it`s Out of Service Til Aug 2, but Mike Cooper suspects that
refers to last year as he has seen no new NOTAMs about it not being
decommissioned (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11700, May 10 at 2211, S9+25 of dead air or trace of
modulation, unlike 11760; something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 7379.20, May 10 at 2219, RHC French news interspersed with
stingers, S9+20. First time I`ve caught this one way off frequency;
got to be same transmitter as in the mornings often at similar offset
knocked below 13740. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5025, May 11 at 0600, R. Rebelde is S9 of dead air.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, May 11 at 0606, Radio Verdad/Truth sign-offs in
Spanish, English, German, Italian, Swedish?, Japanese ... as I then
doze off. At least in Spanish & English, claims to be on ``4.05 MHz``!
Also gives P O Box 5, Chiquimula address, despite having asserted for
a few years that they have *no* postal service in Guatemala, so all
contacts must be by e-mail, including e-QSLs only. Has anyone tried
postal mail to them lately, and what happened? Returned as
undeliverable? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. Correcting typo: DE of course instead of DR:

12843-CW, May 8 at 1334, ``CQ CQ CQ DE HLO HLO HLO QSX 12 MHZ K``
repeating over and over and due to inconvenient fades took several
times to copy it completely. EiBi shows this is Seoul Radio, 24 hours.
Among the few maritime stations left running V or CQ markers on HF
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Friday May 10 at 2202, REE English with corrida and
other sports news; not long before it`s back to music, this time early
choral at 2217 check, also on 12030 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9830, May 10 at 2158, heavy RTTY, believed to be
from Isabela, Puerto Rico, but 2201 VOT opening in the clear, only to
be blasted by more RTTY at 2202. But usually it`s mostly finished
after 2200; clear but weak at 2217 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 4102.8-CW, May 11 at 0603, weather beacon W is JBA, from
somewhere in the SW desert; with various beep combos, and the only ID
as W periodically (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1981 monitoring: confirmed first US
SW broadcast, Friday May 10 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, good S9+40 atop lite
pulse jamming. Before 2200 music fill and WNYW-style ID.

Also confirmed UT Saturday May 11 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, fair S9/+10.

Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, confirms: ``GERMANY Reception of World of Radio
via HLR on 6190 CUSB, May 11:
https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2019/05/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_11.html
0631-0700 6190 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg CeEu English Sat, weak signal``

Also confirmed Saturday May 11 at 1440 the 1431 via UTwente SDR on
Hamburger Lokalradio, 9485-CUSB --- for the first time in many weeks
any such signal detectable, but totally unusable vs huge splash from
Romania on 9490. Even with bandwidth narrowed to 1 kHz, all I can
recognize is that it`s my voice, but not positive latest edition as it
should be. Now if HLR would switch to LSB, it would be much better;
why not? Only thing on 9480 this hour is CNR Beijing for Tibet. Next:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, Friday May 10 at 1402, surprised to find WRMI still
running, with music, Oldies? 1411 Bob Biermann ID, Africanish music.
One-hour extension to 1500* is supposedly Sat & Sun only for some
gospel huxter; unknown how long on today Friday. On Saturday May 11
not checked until 1514 when it`s off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.139, May 10 at 0611, WBCQ with TOMBS VP at S7-S4,
obviously back on old transmitter after #6 L&C 4 hours earlier. Next
check at 1402 TOMBS is poor on 9330.179; at 2202, 9330.2 approx., VP
TOMBS -- all of which mean this is not the 500 kW on-frequency unit.
Nor is it on 7490, since the BS there is also VP, approx. 7490.15.

Allan Weiner twitted plan to employ the 500 kW at 135 for his AAAWWW
this week from 0000 UT Saturday May 11 on 9330, so I`m relistening
then but no signal, while the webcast has no theme but rather band
noise as if plugged into a SW receiver getting nothing. Then AW comes
on saying he can`t find the theme music, apparently in a different
studio than usual.

Just as he says that 9330 is not up, there it comes, as I am also
monitoring on the ATS-909 next to the computer, which needs a BIG
signal to get thru to it. Says also on 3265, never any good here. 9330
cuts off at 0005:30. AW is not in contact with engineer Tom at the 500
kW, so unsure whether it`s on or not. It does come back on at 0007.

Angela is with him and we learn that as a child she spent time at
CFTO-TV channel 9 Toronto, where her father worked in ENG (not
engineering, but electronic news gathering). Starts talking about DTV
and its drawbacks, says a single transmitter may have up to 5
subchannels. NO, it can be more and often is; but bad for rural areas
where analog TV used to reach, not DTV. Some ATV station in NB is
still analog the last time he checked.

0012 (or 0017?), 9330 cuts off again. 0019 back on but weaker. 0020
power goes up but modulation goes down. Says transmitter is 95%
efficient. 0025, 9330 goes off again. Says audio is processed to ``FM
quality`` via a $14K Omnia-11 unit. The antenna is still being tuned
which is why they are not ready for full service yet. Yesterday`s
tests were limited to 130 kW (not 135 as he said previously??)

At 0027, 9330 is back up but recognizable as Brother Scare, usual
occupant of this frequency. At 0031 Tom calls in with what`s going on:
says started with 130 kW, but overloaded causing arcing, so went off;
back on, progressively reducing power to 100, 60, 25 kW but same thing
kept happening, so finally left it off, and brought old #4 transmitter
back up on 9330. At first thought AAAWWW was on it too, but rather
TOMBS.

AW says target date was 15 May but probably won`t make it, as
turnbuckles are being tightened. Maybe a week later. Tests so far have
been with only 2 dipoles active, rather than full complement of 4 x 4,
yet have been getting great reports worldwide. Says WBCQ makes zero
money, has to be subsidized out of his own pocket (such as buying and
selling antique autos?).

At 0048 says BS is on 9330. VSWR of the 500 kW is only 5 kW, not a lot
by comparison. When in service, there will be NO time for sale on it,
all taken by funder World`s Last Chance, which AW says provides
excellent religious programming --- except he will put AAAWWW on it.
Brother Scare will then be moved to 7490 occupying all unsold time
there (so all day, all night 15-12 UT except for WWCR span? But
presently registered for only 19-04 UT).

Unusually I listened to almost the whole hour, but John Carver also
reports, and please keep doing so:

``Tonight's show started almost on time on 7490 after some fill music,
a miscue and some dead air. No theme song this evening. Angela in the
studio with Allan. Allan starting talking about the tests this past
week on the superstation. He said that 9330 wasn't on the air at the
moment but would be broadcasting tonight's show when they brought it
up.

Discussion moved to television for some reason. I received a telephone
call and had to turn the radio down for a bit. When I turned it back
up they were talking television.

Finally back to the superstation, Allan said they'd received signal
reports from New Zealand and India during the testing period. Phone
call at 0025 with a signal report saying that that the new transmitter
was up on 9330 but had dropped out twice so far. Allan said that
during the antenna adjustment period, they were asked to keep the
power down to 130 kW.

Tom called at 0030 and said he'd shut down the new transmitter as it
was overloading and that 9330 was back on the old transmitter. Allan
goes on some more about getting all the bugs out of the new antenna.
Says that is the biggest hurdle left. Had planned to have the
superstation on the air for normal operation by the 17th of this month
but it might take a week longer as they worked on adjusting the new
antenna. Said that they would continue with transmitter tests this
coming week also but probably only on 9330 as the antenna has to be
retuned every time they change frequencies.

Reading of emails at 0051. Closing prayer at 0058. Allan said that
when the superstation went on the air for real, Brother Stair would
move to 7490 and would fill every empty slot in the schedule. Program
off the air at 0101 followed by music. 7490 was off the air at 0105.
John, Mid-North Indiana``

Kai Ludwig, Germany, has just commented on the WOR iog: ``It will get
interesting when this WLC Radio stuff really goes on air. The German
variant is recorded in a real, decent studio, apparently with native
speakers of German, of young age and using a presentation style for
their own age group. It all sounds really professional, besides the
choice of medium: This target audience can hardly be reached with
radio anymore, let alone shortwave. So again the question:

Who in the world drives this whole thing, is involved in the program
production and, first of all, pumps millions of $$$ into a project
that at a glance looks like the child of some Youtube clowns? Kai``

AW`s latest twit circa 14 UT May 11 says nothing about superstation or
further testing plans (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Sat May 11 at 1514, NO signal from KVOH during
presumed Wavescan airing. OSOB is 17815 WHRI, JBA (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825 & 13845, May 10 at 1403, WWCRs are S9+20, sure pilots
of HF sporadic E; and 6m DX Map shows MUF above 100 MHz, heavy 10-
meter contacts all over eastern USA. Later I do get one FM DX catch,
q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 88.1 WBFM, May 10 at 1654 UT, noting the MUF is still
estimated above 100 MHz, I turn on the ATS-909 next to the computer,
which is mostly usable only for near/local stations and very strong
HF, to 88.1, and immediately fades up a non-ID/promo for ``The Joy
FM``, and fade down again, but the two Okies are no problem on this.

WTFDA FM Database search on this exact slogan leads to only one 88.1,
WJIS, 100 kW in Bradenton FL, a good fit for paths in this opening and
optimum sporadic E distance 1086 miles = 1748 km. My first Es FM DX
catch this year. I hasten to the porch for a clearer shot across
hourtop, but nothing else logged vs all the ACI and CCI --- not a
single really clear/open FM frequency around here, very frustrating
(Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9200.000, May 10 at 0613, S2-S5 of open carrier. Only
thing in Aoki/NDXC is, you guessed it, CNR1 jamming vs SOH; but I
would not expect much of that at this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 6010, May 12 at 0048, S8 carrier is JBM, but //
undermodulated Chinese song on 5990, i.e. CRI relay, i.e. the leapfrog
mixing product I first reported weeks ago, over fulcrum 6000, another
Cuban transmitter at same site which is now also JBM during what
should be RHC English, but // 6165 is off so no comparison. 6010 also
has a weaker second carrier beating, most likely Brasil (Glenn Hauser,

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 9925, UT Sun May 12 at 0025, JBA presumed The
Mighty Farty KBC via GERMANY, on new summer frequency, but again this
week useless. QSY to 7 MHz band! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, May 12 at 0029, torchsong at S9+20, soon
pause for ``Wolverine Radio`` ID, then a boogie. Usual super-signal
for a pirate; 0037 ``I Saw the Light``, 0040 another ID; so figure the
keyword tonight is light; confirmed by several logs here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,53918.0.html

BTW, setting this on the PL-880 so I can keep bandscanning on the NRD
-545, I hit the USB button too long, activating `SYNCH`, which sounds
awful, confirming why I never use it intentionally (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 5980, UT Sun May 12 at 0027, heavy Cuban wall-
of-noise jamming against no TV Martí but instead poor RRI, which is
barely matchable to // 7420 rock music at S8-S9+20 in the clear.
Something`s always wrong at the DentroCuban JammingCommand. It`s about

** U S A. 6913-USB, May 12 at 0030, ``CQ Armed Forces Day Crossband,
November Whisky Victor Charlie, reply on 7.203-LSB``. Soon complains
about QRM there; I don`t hear any answers but there`s a pileup on
7201-LSB; is another event/contest running? AFD schedule shows:

NWVC / LST-325 EVANSVILLE, IN (USB + CW)
1200Z-0400Z -- 4,007.0 6,913.0 9,988.5 13,974.0
Has good signal, but gone by 0055 check.

I had forgotten this was AF Day [non], for crossband contacts, just
ran across NWVC intruding (hi) in the pirate band. I don`t have the
AFD sked handy so quickly bandscan likely areas for others, but find
only this as most have secured by 23 or 24 UT:

5330.5-USB, May 12 at 0043, ``CQ from November Sierra Sierra,
celebrating Armed Forces Day,`` in this case not crossband, since this
is one of the discrete ``60 m`` ham channels also available to nons:

NSS / US NAVAL ACADEMY ANNAPOLIS, MD (USB + CW)
1300Z-0200Z -- 4,038.5 5,330.5 7,533.5 9,447.0 14,487.0 17,545.0

Bob from the US Naval Academy in Maryland, contacts David, ND1J in
Georgia, both about S7, much weaker than NWVC; mentions QSL route,
another call managing?

(Online form for QSLs on website strictly excludes SWL overhearers!)

** U S A. 5085, Sat May 11 at 2340, `Theatre Organ in the Ozarx`
finally starts late after some hamstuff runover on WTWW-2: I
immediately start listening to stereo webcast instead. Bob Heil says
he is in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, in the Ozarx. Really? That town is a
suburb just SE of Kansas City. Boundaries of Ozarx are certainly
indistinct, but most maps show nowhere near this place, beyond
south/central Missouri. Maybe it`s just his Ozarx ``state of mind``.
And runs 35 minutes until 2415, back to hamstuff starting with
hardsell ad by Ted, tune out/turn off.

BTW, altho I have not mentioned them lately, 5085 is still/always
accompanied by those weak parasitic spurs circa 5072.1 and 5097.9,
i.e. plus and minus 12.9 kHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5915, May 12 at 0046, VP talk in unknown language, then
music with heavy beat. Only thing scheduled is Myanmar, unlikely but
sorta grayline; except Zambia was stuck on 24 hours for a while, but

UNIDENTIFIED. 7410, May 12 at 0028, dead air at S7. HFCC has something

I had searched for 7410 before but unfound; another version, from Ivo:

So was my dead air in Azeri or Turkish?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Ray Robinson replies on the WOR iog about why I had no
signal from KVOH 17775, Sat May 11 at 1514:

``Sadly, another minor tube failure, awaiting replacement parts.
Should be back on by Tue/Wed [May 14/15]. Ray Robinson, Voice of Hope
World Radio Network, Americas/Africa/Middle East,
www.voiceofhope.com``

Now I am still wondering if this is about the old transmitter or the
``new`` one; unclear on what date new started, if yet. Apparently,
only one is operable now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs May 12-13, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CANADA [and non]. 341 kHz, May 13 at 0544 UT, ND beacon YYU and
dash, which is 500 watts from Kapuskasing, Ontario; mixing with and
weaker than local co-channel EI Enid, but with different pitches and
periods, not hard to copy separately. No sign of OIN Oberlin KS, which
I was also getting during last log April 4. Storm noise level not so
bad tonight (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CONGO. 6115, May 13 from 0525 past 0536 I keep checking for carrier
from Brazzaville, but none of it. On May 3, Ron Howard heard it
suddenly come on at *0533 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, May 13 at 0537, RHC is in Spanish instead of English,
which is nominally here at 0500-0600. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13739.289, May 13 at 1347, RHC S9+10 and auto-knocked off-
frequency again today. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH. 11710, May 13 at 1354, VOK is S8-S9 with self-jamming
noise, closing English to North America reciting this and some other
transmissions, to Europe and NE Asia, but not all of them. Also on
weaker // 9435; 11735 is also on in Chinese. Other days hardly any
signal at all and wonder if it`s transmission-caused, propagation-
caused, or some of both (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALI. 5995, May 13 at 0525, S8-S9 music, drums, maybe IS loop? And
Afrosongs; even with LSB tuning, splatter from 6000 RHC even tho
undermodulated as usual. Surely it`s prélude from ORTM turning
transmitter on earlier than nominal 0555. WRTH shows domestic service
even on FM is not 24 hours, also opening at *0555 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 12030, May 13 at 2258, REE with ME music, presumably
rounding out the Arabic service, but transmitter cuts off and back on
several times. ID and 2200 starting English, but now cuts off and
stays off, while English remains on the other three, 11940, 11670 and
9690. It`s supposed to continue on 12030 too.

REE English this Monday starts with ten minutes of Justin Coe talking
about some silly ballgame (tennis) in excruciating detail, including
SFX of balls being racketed; at 2210 finally changes to some rock band
from New York he`s enamored of. News? What news? Obviously nothing of
any consequence is happening in Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 9830, May 13 at 2200-2210, no show from VOT English to
North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1981 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov reports
presumably 1981: ``GERMANY, Reception of World of Radio via HLR on
7265 CUSB, May 12:
https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2019/05/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_12.html
1031-1100 7265 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg CeEu English Sun, weak signal``

Also confirmed here Sunday May 12 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, JBA S2-S4.

Also confirmed UT Monday May 13 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, fair S6-S7

Also confirmed UT Monday May 13 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, fair S9; upcut
after first three words, ``Hauser ---``.

Also confirmed UT Monday May 13 at 0300 on Area 51 webcast; and on
WBCQ 5130.4v, fair S9+10 at 0327 check

Also confirmed UT Monday May 13 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, good S9+10 after
music fill, no ID. Next:

0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780
0800 UT Tuesday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW [2 editions]
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, May 13 at 1358, WRMI fill music, 1359.5 Zanotti ID cut
off incomplete before he can utter the address, about 10 seconds
before 1400*. WRMI automation is often out of alignment. Was checking
this since on Friday May 10, 9955 stayed on past 1400 contrary to
weekday schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9200, May 13 at 0521 open carrier at S9, slight fades to
S8; same as heard before, May 10 at 0613. Such a signal in the
nightmiddle is likely to be from circa North America, or maybe Pacific
like good signal again from 9700 NZ. Maybe a ute; or Cuban spy number
station not known to have been on 9200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 0024 UT May 14

Glenn Hauser logs May 14-15, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.972, May 14 at 1327, JBA carrier on signature
off-frequency of LRA36, active since it`s Tuesday. Even weaker JJBBA
carrier by 1357 recheck. Try again Thursday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 12190, May 15 at 1258, CNR1 jammer against SOH, with some
kind of live music event, // 11785 q.v. which continues past 1300
unlike 12190. By 1306 no further WOOB jammers found between 10.9 and
15.0 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11785, May 15 at 1258, CNR1 jammer // 12190 which is about
to cut off; seems like live musical event, with crowd applause, MCs in
Chinese but bits of English too, ``Nessun Dorma`` performance thru
hourtop, unusual, becomes M&W duet. Target victim VOA Philippines
accomplishes nothing but a SAH against this (but skip zone and
propagation may still get it into parts of Communist China). At 1304
MCs mention a bunch of other Asian countries. Variety of other music.
Maybe a singing competition. Sadly, this jammer is the best signal of
any CNR1 frequency checked, and it`s fading away by 1330. Does anyone
know what this event was? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11640, May 15 at 1306, Firedragon jamming, S6-S8, ``nice``
to hear for a change instead of CNR1, vs RTI which is inaudible (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, May 14 at 1321, RHC Spanish suptorted, // 11760 and
6000 of which this is X2; something`s always wrong at RHC.

12000, May 15 at 1258, RHC harmonic of 6000, while there is no
harmonic on 12200 from the other 49m channel, 6100. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 5945, May 14 at 0606, RNZP is already on here, S9/+10,
ex-9700. Has ACI from 5950 WRMI, which is never very strong even tho
on 285 degree beam WNW, but even RNZI is quite stronger, OK by tuning
LSB; promo for RNZ National show; 0608 forecasts, 0609 `Checkpoint`.
Yes, latest websked from RNZI shows 9700, its best frequency here, has
been reduced to only one hour! All non-DRM:

04:59 - 05:58 9700 Pacific Daily
05:59 - 09:58 5945 Pacific Daily
05:59 - 12:58 5945 Pacific Sat-Sun
09:59 - 12:58 5945 Solomon Islands, PNG Mon-Fri
12:59 - 16:50 5980 Pacific Sun - Fri
12:59 - 18:58 5980 Pacific Sat

5980, May 14 at 1318, RNZI at S8-S9 with item about Samoa; no CCI from
JSR Shiokaze/Seebreeze, Japan which has been reported colliding; but
no other east Asian signals on 49m today either.

9700, May 15 at 0547, RNZI still on here, VG S9+10 and indeed off
after 0600.

5980, May 15 at 1300, RNZP has just come up with news, poor signal but
better than 5945 until 1259, denoting change of antennas from NNW to
NNE; again no CCI audible from JSR Shiokaze; 5980 soon fading into the
dayside absorption and it will only get worse as we approach earliest
sunrise here in about 3 weeks (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 13150, May 15 at 1310, JBA carrier, audible only with R75
maximum preamp 2, not with 1 or no pre-amp. Therefore it must be an
internal/external? local SW/MW overload mixture; calculated as 11760
RHC plus 1390 KCRC. Here to be in my archive reference, as no one else
will ever hear it (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAOMA. RF18, May 15 at 1415 UT, 62-1 Ion, i.e. KOPX OKC has
finally repacked, must be first day, last of full-power OKCs to
accomplish, thus blocking yet another potential DX channel here. We
have OKC on 7/15/16/18/19/23/24/25/27/29/33, but KOPX ex-RF 50 is now
open.

Some tropo enhancement shows LP on 42 KBZC still with a Bad signal.
Another on 45 which could be Wichita or Tulsa if not repacked yet.
Enid`s only TV station, K17JN-D, 3ABN, is still off the air. Maybe
that will visiblize somethings from OK or KS. Bullseye of max tropo
this morning is Kansas City, but nothing seen from there without
aiming that way. KHCC Hutchinson however has almost completely
overridden closer fellow classical KUCO OKC on 90.1 (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TAIWAN. 9455, May 15 at 1331, open carrier or maybe JB modulated.
Scheduled is Furusato no Kaze. If Bangladesh were still operable here,
instead of demoted to 4750, would be amid its Nepali service. 9455
will also be active this evening from WRMI, UT Thursdays only (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1981 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday May 14
at 0100 on WRMI 7780, JBA vs storm noise. Next:
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Note: the Friday airing on Unique Radio, NSW AUSTRALIA, 5045-USB, when
WOR 1982 should be ready, has been moved from 0930 to start at 1000
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.1v, May 15 at 1332, WBCQ, TOM with some cribbed dialog
about EMP, not BS hoarsing, but // stronger unsynchronized 9395 WRMI.
So not now the 500 kW transmitter, nor have I heard any sign of it
past few days, nor seen any other reports of it. No pertinent twit
from Allan since May 13 when he said would be ``testing the
superstation this week`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, May 14 at 0610, WWCR open carrier dead air once again,
on a Tuesday, S9 with flutter, about same level as 5935 with PMS; and
so is 4840 dead at S9+30; while 3215 has TOMBS at S9+20/30 but some
flutter too. It seems that Brother Scare on 3215 has been extended to
overnight.

5890, Wed May 15 at 0550, WWCR dead air again, S9/+10, while 5935,
4840, 3215 are all modulating (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17774.990, May 14 at 1931, KVOH praise music in Spanish, S9
-S7, back on air after tube failure causing a few days outage. Still
on offset typical of old transmitter. Next day, May 15 at 1409, no
signal but often not propagating yet if on; OSOB is JBA carrier from
Saudi Arabia 17615+. By 1725, in with music at S9 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1090, May 15 at 0554 UT, three country gospel songs in a
row, 0559 ID as ``AM 1090, KAAY Little Rock, streaming ---, a Cumulus
station``. Dominant signal despite its original tight NNW/SSE night
pattern, obviously no longer in use by ND STA? Checking here since
Paul Walker had reported 500-watt daytimer KSOU in Iowa was running at
night (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11981.6 approx., May 14 at 1320, RTTY INTRUDER.
Fortunately no broadcaster ATM on 11980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser

DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS updated May 16:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html

** CHINA. 11785, re my report of a special musical event on CNR1
jammer, May 15 before and after 1300, Ron Howard replies on the WOR io
group:

``Hi Glenn, Here in California, I was also listening to CNR1 (6125
kHz.). Live coverage of the opening ceremony of the Conference on
Dialogue of Asian Civilizations [explained in English:]
http://bit.ly/2W9Gru6
being held in Beijing; live coverage ended at 1345. A major event, as
it was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Many performers (song
Auld Lang Syne, etc.). My audio of a portion of today's coverage at
http://bit.ly/2JkBuZz
Ron``

Very good; but I fail to comprehend what ``ALS`` or ``Nessun Dorma``
by Puccini have to do with any Asian civilisation. Or have the ChiCom
coöpted those too as their very own? (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO
1982, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, afternoon of May 16, shortly after my previous
report, K17JN-D Enid was back on air at first with weaker than usual
signal, black and silent screen on each of 6 subchannels; and then
resuming `normal` strength and 3ABN programming only on -1, -3 and -5
as before, still transmitting but nothing on -2, -4 and -6 (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. Correxion: the first time mentioned should have been 2158,
not 2258; fixed: 12030, May 13 at 2158, REE with ME music, presumably
rounding out the Arabic service, but transmitter cuts off and back on
several times. ID and 2200 starting English, but now cuts off and
stays off, while English remains on the other three, 11940, 11670 and
9690. It`s supposed to continue on 12030 too... (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 9830, May 15 at 2330 check, VOT on again with extra German
broadcast, announcement amid Türkmusik, fair S8-S9+10; unknown today
whether also managed to air English during previous hour (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1981 monitoring: not confirmed
Wednesday May 15 at 2100 on WRMI 9955 --- no signal, yet again. This
time I stay tuned with offset BFO so I am notified immediately the
carrier oncome at *2111, JIP WOR and ending 2129 as usual. This keeps
happening on this broadcast, the 9955 transmitter with some problems;
also sometimes on after 1400 as May 10, yet off before 1400 May 16
(not May 15 as I misremembered in WOR 1982 remark).

Well, Wed at 2100 there`s always the alternative for WOR on WBCQ
7490.2v, coincidentally simulscheduled --- NO, it`s not on either at
2100! rather some off-key singing, which has got to be the late
Goddess Irena, who used to follow WOR at 2130. On a hunch, I check
again at 2130, and by golly there is WOR starting, signal having faded
up a bit to VP S3. So the two programs have been swapped. I hope this
be intentional and will maintain, as that`s slightly better for WOR
listeners. Am not holding breath for any confirmation on the websked
which still imagines WOR is on 9330 almost daily at 2330!

Also confirmed UT Thu May 16 at 0117 the 0100 on WRMI 7780, F-G S9+10.

WRTH A-19 update --- NO, something else is on, so FG Radio remains
kaput (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, Thu May 16 at 0543, WWCR dead air at S9+40! So this
waste is not limited to Tuesdays. 5935 is slightly weaker at S9+30/20
and manages to modulate (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 1610, May 17 at 0500 UT, music seems Spanish, and also a
second carrier making a slight beat, both looping NE/SW. CHHA Toronto,
Voces Latinas, is usual dominator here. 3-year-old program grid at
http:///chha1610am.ca merely shows `All-Night Music`, but as of last
August log, heard in Portuguese Portuguese, and could also be Punjabi
which is hardly Latin.

I would love to get XEUACH, but probably has migrated to 1130 by now.
More likely than a TIS is CHRN Montreal in almost the same direxion as
Toronto which easily bloxit. How far apart are they? MW Offsets as of
Oct 2018 showed CHRN on 1609.9987, CHHA on 1609.9995, i.e. only 0.8 Hz
difference (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, May 17 at 0530, RHC English is suptorted here at S9+40;
// 6060 modulation good as usual; 6100 less loud; 6165 & 6000 JBM.
Something`s always wrong at RHC.

12200, May 17 at 0543, RHC English JBA with ``Chariots of Fire`` theme
to `Cultural Report`, // 6100 as this second harmonic beats the
nightmiddle MUF. NO signals where 2 x other frequencies would land:
12330, 12120-RTTY, 12000. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

9535, May 17 at 0538, RHC English JBA // 6060. This one is never
supposed to be in English but sometimes stays on late after Spanish to
0500. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

6100, May 17 at 1149, RHC is S9+10 but JBM, while // 6000 is S9+10 and
undermodulated. Neither provides a second harmonic now; something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 6350, May 17 at 1153, romantic solo song, maybe even
in English, S8-S9 with jamming CCI; similar on 6600 but not positively
// with less QRM. 6350 is Echo of Hope, while 6600 is Voice of the
People. Both operated by the National Intelligence Service, from
different sites, and supposedly with separate programming as
clandestines into North Korea (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 610, May 17 at 1121 UT, 2 minutes before LSR, Spanish DJ
and lively music from SW, presumed XEGS Guasave, Sinaloa, slowly
losing out to KCSP, under which I can still hear a choral NA at 1132.

650, May 17 at 1121, XETNT Los Mochis, Sinaloa, with different Spanish
DJ wakeup show, 1129 ``Buenos Días, Yarderos --- Radio 65``, and NA,
1131 back to music. Loops same as sibling 610 station. This is
stronger and holds up longer than XEGS. XETNT callsign seldom heard
and not today. By this late at sunrise, when I would have preferred to
sleep another two hours, the only two audible XEs on the lower band
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 6170, May 17 at *1259:10, RNZI bellbird, S9,
1300 Timesignal and RNZP News, first day of new frequency to avoid
Shiokaze clash on ex-5980; as Adrian Sainsbury had informed me a few
hours before, after I notified him of the problem. No QRM now as
Pyongyang is away for the A-season.

Back on 5980 & 6040, Shiokaze manages only JBA carriers this far into
the dayside, but the collision was terrible further west as Ron Howard
had reported from California (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1160, May 17 at 1205 UT TexMexmx, with fast SAH, 1210 fade,
1212 back with slow SAH; 1213 ad for Rio Bravo Supermarket, and
finefoods.com?; another ad harder to understand by super-hype voice
actor. Loops NE/SW. The only possible SS around here (no more San
Antonio) is KCTO, CoL Cleveland MO (address in Liberty, i.e. Kansas
City market), and in fact Rio Bravo Supermarket chex out in Kansas
City KS (also Wichita). KCTO is 5 kW aiming only north, so hard to
believe I`m getting it so well, as I have a few years before (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 9630.453, May 18 at 0535, S5-S7 carrier, maybe unmodulated,
obviously R. Aparecida, which had been missing for some time at
nightmiddle chex (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non?]. 11860v, May 18 at 0245, S9 total of open carrier
with slight het and pulse jamming. At first I wondered if Radio Martí
carrier were still on from Greenville long after sign-off. But one of
the 11860 sigs is the JBM +10 kHz RHC spur out of 11850, which is
S9+30; the matcher on the low side, 11840 in the clear, is S9. There
is also a slight het on the low side of 11860, which could be Saudi`s
Yemen service, as Gianni Serra, Roma, had measured it April 28 on
11859.96 --- I haven`t heard it well in ages. Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6060, May 18 at 0254, RHC Spanish frequency is OFF. May 18 at
0526, 6060 still off and 6100 too, both now supposed too be English,
leaving only 6165 undermodulated, and 6000 S9+20 with somewhat more
modulation. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9790, May 18 at 0537, huge open carrier at S9+40. Still at
0546 but gone at 0600 recheck. Obviously the 250 kW Habana relay of
CRI not turned off at 0500; RFI 500 kW in French is scheduled here at
0500-0700, but not a trace of it. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13739.239, May 18 at 1329, RHC again self-knocked off from
13740.000, S6-S8; while // 13700 is S9+10. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, May 18 at 1334, RHC is S9 vs storm noise; almost seems
like a fundamental, but unscheduled, really 2 x 6000 also still
audible at S9, then a dead air pause on both. Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9330.1, May 17 at 2231, TOMBS via WBCQ old
transmitter, and on old 7490.1, but NOT // --- forced myself to listen
to each for a minute and no match even out of synch. At 2342, BS still
on 9330.15, S8/S9+10 replaying the bit about EMP threat, while 7490.17
now has gospel huxter at S9/S9+10. As we are approaching AAAWWW time,
no sigs detectable on 5130 or 3265, high storm noise level. More at
USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1982 monitoring: confirmed Friday
May 17 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, fair but fading; it was better before
2200 with VORW. By 2227, S5-S7 vs unnecessary Cuban pulse jamming;
usual overlap with next item as I conclude with ``--- next week``.
Fortunately those words are disposable, non-essential. Andy Sennitt ID
is also cut off before he can finish uttering the WRMI address, as
automation continues to be misaligned, 2230 into gospel huxter in
Spanish.

Also confirmed UT Saturday May 18 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, fair in storm

** U S A. Continued from SOUTH CAROLINA [non}: 9330.15v & 7490.17v,
May 17 at 2357, WBCQs monitored on two receivers, smoothly merge into
same fill music following separate programming, and at 0000:00 sharp
May 18, ``William Tell Overture`` theme starts, plays complete with no
interjexions! 0003 dead air for a minute; 0004 oncomes Allan Weiner
saying it`s been a rough day, with crazy issues, but undetailed. Once
again he`s very depressed this week and says he almost didn`t want to
do the show. It`s not clear whether this is all about the project, or
the political situation, or both. Says trimulcasting on 3265, 9330,
7490. I listen to the first half on 9, then 7 is better.

I gather that the supertransmitter has not been on since last week, as
the antenna is still not ready; delays due to heavy rain for two
weeks. Funding problems, issues over money; local contractors gouging.
Invites phone calls right away but no one seems to inquire exactly
what the problems are. I keep listening hoping for some useful info.
At 0038 says they are buying an old ladder firetruck for $5K to reach
the antenna heights, instead of renting a ladder truck which has been
costing $22K per month. New transmitter is so complicated, watch out!
When working, it`s great. Now hopes to get into full-fledged operation
sometime in June. 0045 reads a few pirate items from Free Radio Weekly

** U S A. 15809.918, May 18 at 1512, WTWW-3 rarely on with classic
rock, distorted overmodulation, and as always offset way below
15810.000. S9+10 via my inside longwire due to storming. Still at
1551.

** CANADA. 15034-USB, May 19 at 1812, CHR, Trenton Military, with
aviation weather conditions as of 1800z for Halifax, soon Greenwood
and Gander special report as of 1808. First time in weeks heard with
any info other than ``no report received`` from any/everywhere. Still
interspersed with some NRRs (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** COLOMBIA. 2940+, May 19 at 0605, HJNT, Radio Huellas, Cali, as
previously IDed, carrier obviously there despite high storm noise
level here. I am surprised that there have been so few reports of this
second harmonic, in fact the only active Colombian (almost)-SW
station. Where are the DXers elsewhere in North America, let alone
Latin America? Maybe just as well, as attempts to QSL it might lead to
its demise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, May 18 at 2208, RHC Spanish suptorted; wiggle that
patchcord! Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13739.240, May 19 at 1345, RHC auto-knocked off 13740.00 for
the second day in a row. Hope wolfie finally catch it too, having
found it non-knocked when he chex. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
But not always the same things all the time.

This is during `En Contacto` DX program, but it doesn`t finish at
1350! By then I am on 15230 hearing the RHC IS amid the show, and more
Arnie, until `En Cia del Dr` finally starts at 1357. Very unusual as
RHC Spanish programming is normally within one minute of nominal.
Something`s always wrong at RHC.

[and non]. 15140 should be // 15230, but at 1355 May 19 a JBA signal
on 15140 I cannot match with traces of modulation. Something`s always
wrong at RHC. Could Oman have resumed on 15140 from 9620, where there
is also a JBA carrier? Nothing else is known on 15140 ---

Except: could it be 2 x 7570 WRMI, which is aimed right at us with
Supreme Master TV?? Next time must try to mod-match that. Harmonix
from Okeechobee are extremely rare. WRMI`s other 7 MHz which could
multiply onto 19m would be: 15460 and 15560. The latter has happened
due to mistuning, but soon repaired.

By 1425 May 19, still no RHC on 15140, and 15230 is S9 but JBM.
Something`s always wrong at RHC. With so few extracontinental SW
signals propagating well, we are indeed fortunate that RHC provide
such a rich supply of abnormalities to capture! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

ANF on R75 helps. 2205 dead air for a minute at the same time RTTY

** U S A. 5085, May 18 at 2212, WTWW-2 with rock music, S9/S9+10 but
not enough vs storm noise level. Wonder how long this has been on; all
day?

15810-, May 19 at 1347, WTWW-3 active for the second morning in a row,
rock music, obviously minus but not remeasured to 15809.918 like
yesterday. S9 to S9+10, about the same as neighbor 15825 WWCR-1 both
getting a sporadic-E boost.

And as expected, no sign of WMR Denmark on 15805. Stig Hartvig Nielsen
says, ``World Music Radio on 15805 kHz is probably the station on 19 m
with the lowest power - and with the most simple aerial - so obviously
that makes it a DX catch. It is not a signal you can rely on for
regular listening - tuning in and then expecting a fine signal.

Most of the time, the signal will be absent or barely audible - in the
areas where the signal propagates into (Russia, Southern Europe,
Northern Scandinavia, Brazil, North America - and even once in
Thailand). I had imagined that that would have created more interest
among DX'ers.

I have just purchased a new 3 element yagi for 15805 kHz, so hopefully
soon there will be some improvement in signal strength :-)``

15810-, WTWW-3 is still on with JBA carrier at 1815 May 19, and this
time I check 5085 in the daymiddle --- yes! It is also on with S7 of
country/rock music vs S6 noise level. I think there be a correlation
between these two activities of WTWW-3 and WTWW-2; meanwhile WTWW-1 is
nominal on 9475, not 5830, with SFAW, or rather as on website wtww.us
homepage, SFAWBN, which also displays a long-outdated Dave Ramsey on
9930 claim; plus contradictory times for TOITO. Searching the site for
15810 gets no hits (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. During the long-predicted tornado outbreak Monday
afternoon May 20, quick survey 2020-2040 UT, of which radio stations
are plugged into which OKC TV stations in continuous storm coverage,
at least until prime time:

KFOR ``4`` earlier mentioned only 96.1 & 101.9, but also found on
88.5, 89.7, 94.7, 102.7, 1000, 1340

KOCO ``5``: heard on 91.7 KOSU; but at 2138 KOCO crawler lists only
all the KGOU network frequencies; at 2148 KOCO also found on 1640
KZLS. One wonders how much of this be ad-hoc, perhaps TV stations not
even aware of all their repeaters.

KWTV ``9``: 107.7, 960, 1520; 107.1 & 106.3 Enid: KWTV in and out

Own live local coverage: KOKP 1020 & KQSR 105.1 Perry/Stillwater

Notable by their absence from above are a number of other major FM
signals which blithely continued with normal music or talk
programming.

98.9 KYIS had audio of some TV but quit before I could match it, ``in
and out``

KOKH ``25`` Fox also in continuous weather but unfound on any radio.
It`s a poor fourth in the market, but managing to do some OBs now.

89.1 Family Radio translator in Enid dead air; doesn`t take much to
disrupt it.

NWS overrode everything(?) for tornado warning at 2035 UT, even those
stations providing more detailed continuous coverage. This also
applied to Altice/Suddenlink cable TV in Enid. During this, channel-
changing is disabled.

Also for the duration, my rooftop TV antennas are disconnected, but I
had picked up some new rabbit ears for $12 on the Radio Shack
closeout. Also with a swiveling UHF loop between the rods; strangely,
the ears still need to be extended for better UHF reception. At
ground level, the only OKC TV station I can get, cutting in and out,
is KWTV-25. At least makes for some more DTV pixillated art if I can
catch it with the camera.

Parts of Garfield County were under tornado warning at times, but
fortunately not our part --- yet. There has been plenty of lightning
and torrential rain; flooding in our area not a problem --- yet.
Storms are to continue until midday Tuesday.

Monday afternoon storms were north/NW of OKC, and in west/SW OK, not
yet OKC itself, which would get hit later in evening.

But only KWTV blew away CBS primetime (until 0200), putting that on
KSBI; KOCO at first referred ABC viewers to MeTV 5.2, something it
seldom does, but soon ABC was back on 5.1. KFOR put NBC News on KAUT
at 2230, but itself went to NBC at 0000 UT, of course with numerous
cut-ins (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 7420, UT Mon May 20 at 0027, Romanian folk music S9+25,
while // 5980, presumed still there under wall-of-noise Cuban jamming
against no TV Martí on weekends. Alan Roe`s ``Music on Shortwave``
schedule shows this hour contains ``Zi-le D-Alead-Ale Noastre (Folk
mx)``; ex-9790 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 9700, May 20 at 0611, RRI S7-S4 in German, becoming
audible and NZ is conveniently out of the way having cut back to one
hour before 0600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 7490.2v, UT Mon May 20 from 0025 tune-in, S9-S8
WBCQ with `Encore` classical music from Radio Tumbril, another
enjoyable show hosted by Brice Avery. WBCQ switched to non-classical
fill music about 0057 before the final piece finished. 0100 WBCQ
business plug and standard sign-off --- but stayed on 0102-0105* with
more music, rock, which I suppose continued to fill the webcast (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K. 7300, May 20 at 0031, English news headlines, BBCWS ID, 0032
into some featurre programme, S9-S7; is beamed 82 degrees from
Woofferton this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1982 monitoring: confirmed Sunday May 19 at
2130 on WRMI 7780, JBA

Also confirmed, UT Monday May 20 at 0130 on WRMI 9395 following the
long-outdated YL `Son-power Radio on 5850, 7455, 9395`` ID; fair

Also confirmed UT Monday May 20 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, good S9+10/S9,
better than usual on this NE beam

Also confirmed UT Monday May 20 at 0301 on Area 51 webcast and on WBCQ
5130.39v, fair S9 at 0328 check

Also confirmed UT Monday May 20 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20 also
better than usual, and starting from the start, immediately after
``Puttin` on the Ritz` in Czech, fill music

Presumably the Monday May 20 at 1815 on IRRS 7290 via Romania
confirmed by this listener response at 1839 from Adrian Micallef:

``Hi Mr Hauser, I`m Adrian and I`m listening for the second time to
your very useful programme from the island of Malta, in the
Mediterranean Sea. Today 20-5-19 I`m using a Zenith Royal D700Y Trans
Oceanic and a Degen DE 1103, own antenna, SINFO 53553-54554. Greetings
from Malta and keep it up. I`m friend with Roberto Scaglione of
Obiettivo DX of AWR. Hope to hear from you, Adrian.``

Also confirmed UT Tuesday May 21 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair and not
upcut. Next:
0800 UT Tuesday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW [2 editions] ND
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE
2130 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v [ex-2100 on May 15] to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

** U S A. 7315, May 20 at 0028, ``World Harvest Radio, the
international voice of LeSEA Broadcasting`` in break between VOV relay
languages --- but, but, LeSEA no longer exists, renamed Family
Broadcasting Corporation last year! Someone needs to tell them about
it. 0029 momentary transmitter break and back on with stronger signal,
S9+20/10, bit of fill music, dead air and 0030+ VOV Spanish finally
starts. HFCC shows WHRI switch from 25 to 173 degrees at 0030; also
claims from 0130 it`s 260 degrees in Vietnamese, rather than English
as always heard (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM [non]. See USA: WHRI

UNIDENTIFIED. 9200, May 20 at 0036, JBA carrier S7-S6, previously
heard 5-6 hours later and stronger (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
