** CHINA. 9215, Sept 14 at 1225, VP music and then Chinese // 11785,
9660 and best 9680, i.e. CNR1 jammers. Then I search out more WOOB:
10820, Sept 14 at 1230, JBA Chinese
10960, Sept 14 at 1231, JBA carrier
11170, Sept 14 at 1232, JBA Chinese
11440 & 11460 & 11540, Sept 14 at 1233, JBA carriers
13530, Sept 14 at 1237, JBA carrier with flutter; and no others in the
12s, 13s, 14s or higher.

All the WOOB ones correlate with SOH/CNR1 jamming in Aoki/NDXC and
EiBi, except unlisted 11170, new to both of them (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 13 at 2013, RHC in Portuguese; and 15370 in
French. Wires crossed? Supposed to be vice versa, per Aoki/NDXC and
EiBi. RHC`s own website is still displaying B-18 schedule!
http://www.radiohc.cu/fr/interesantes/frecuencias
which does not include either language on either or any frequency
during this semihour! Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100, Sept 14 at 0525, RHC English is S9+20 of dead air; at
least it is usually strongest now, while 6000 is JBM and 6165 JBA
carrier. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, Sept 14 at 1234, RHC fair here and better than //
fundamental 6000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13700, Sept 14 at 1305, RHC fails to provide an F# FM service
today, just this and 13740 on AM. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** FRANCE [non]. 17660.018, Sept 14 at 1253, French S9+10 and somewhat
undermodulated, some deep fades to S6;; off-frequency makes me think
of Sa`udi like just-logged 15380.059 Qur`an, and SRI/SBA do have
French on 17660 --- but not until 1355.

At 1200-1300 it`s RFI via MADAGASCAR, which explains the good signal
being T-E rather than T-A. Fluent W&M conversation about African
affairs, chopped off abruptly at 1300*. Only a trace of Saudi on
17705, making RFI the SSOB and virtually the OSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 790-, Sept 14 at 1215, low audible het looping SW about the
same as KFYO Lubbock ID, presumed XENT, La Paz BCS, as in MW Offsets:
790 789.9586 MEX XENT-AM Radio Fórmula (La Paz) 2018-11-01
790 789.9993 USA KFYO (Lubbock, TX) 2018-08-29
I.e. 40.7 Hz apart. No other station anywhere is listed that far below
790. Nominally 10000/750 watts but IRCA Mexican Log says ``night power
seems much higher than 750``, and is staying on AM.

I also had a definite ID of XENT on 790-, April 11, 2018, after the
frequency had been reported at 789.96 by John Wilkins, CO (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 870, Sept 14 at 1208, XETAR in sign-on routine, starting
late? Or just protracted in multilanguages, but several IDs heard (not
XERTA as I mistyped in previous report about KFJZ, USA). In Spanish,
mentions that they will be on air for 12 hours, ``iniciando doce horas
de transmisión``, i.e. still a daytimer which perhaps WWL/listeners
appreciate (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Level 2 tropo blob over central to eastern OK, Sept 14 at
1408+ UT provides a bunch of Bad DTV signals on RF: 8, 10, 11, 12, 21,
22, 26, 30, 35, 36, mostly correlating with Tulsa market, and some
decodes:
20, KQCW-HD 19-1
28, Ion 44-1
31, OETA-DT 3-1 [seldom seen Eufaula KOET, with all 4 channels]
34, KMYT-TV 41-1
But none higher, not even 45, whence KOTV must have repacked by now.

Also, RF 16 KOCM-DT, Daystar Norman is Bad, failing to decode due to
DX QRM, which now must be KWHB Tulsa, 26 kW repacked from 47; altho
there are 7 other low-power Okies on 16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 15380.059, Sept 14 at 1250, VP Qur`an, SRI/SBA Riyadh
as scheduled at 06-09 & 12-13 per EiBi; more precisely as 0545-0857 &
1155-1357 per Aoki. One of few stations on band beyond Cuba, and much
better than 15450 Turkey English toward Europe & North America which
has been a total loss all summer (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1999 monitoring: confirmed first
SWBC, Friday Sept 13 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9-S6 vs Cuban pulse
jamming already; but no upcut.

Confirmed at new time and frequencies, UT Saturday Sept 14 at 0130 on
WRMI 5850 to the NW, S9+20/30 interrupting Bible quotation, ex-24
hours later; and also now on // 5010 to south, and still on 7780 to
NE, both JBA here in HNL. At 0159 on 5850, my last few words
overridden by music fill overlap!

Confirmed by Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria: ``GERMANY World of Radio#1999 via

Alan Gale, England reports: ``Hi Glenn, Nothing at all heard here on
9485 today. The Romanian station was spanning the full 10 kHz from
9485 to 9495, but I could just about see a carrier on 9485. A search
of the usual webSDRs showed nothing but splatter, but this one in
Mala, Sweden did reveal you briefly at around 1455 UT, so at least I
can confirm that the broadcast was actually on there today:
http://aspliden.mooo.com:8073/
Alan``

Confirmed via http://oh5ae.dyndns.org:8073/ SDR in Finland, not at
1445, but audible by 1452 Sat Sept 14 with huge splash from 9490
Romania. Not heard on UTwente SDR.

Via OH5 I also check 7265 and 6190 in case HLR jumbled frequencies as
Ivo suggested. At 1450, 7265 has something with music; 6190 Chinese,
et al.? So neither of those would really be better for us at 1430.

** U S A. (7490v), UT Sat Sept 14 from 0000, WBCQ webcast with WTO
opening of AAAWWW, but turns out to be TimTron subhosting, apparently
on short notice as AW & AW are away at her family`s gathering in
Ass-Houlton. Messes with cart machine trying to get it to eject or
insert. He thinx they are ``quadricasting`` on 5 frequencies, but
checking 6160v, finds it off the air; plays a tune while he goes out
to try to fix it. Later says it may need a new driver tube. Also says
9330 is on but ``piss-weak``. Punxuated by belches here and there.

By now some guy named Jason has joined him to co-host. Who`s he? Never
heard his last name. He is also live-streaming video of this via his
phone on FB, but never says where to find it! Tim wants to take phone
calls to the usual 207-538-9180, but finds out it won`t work since
that number is still set to forward to AW`s cellphone, and he doesn`t
know how to change that. So Jason prompts TT to recall his adventures
in radio in Maine, having known him for almost 20 years. Rest of show
is about the various stations Tim has built and/or worked for until
losing jobs. Jason sounds like a DJ, and they do talk about the
domestic side of WBCQ, WXME, ``all-rock, AOR``, so maybe he works at
that station.

Meanwhile by 0015 I have checked for the SW frequencies vs my hi local
line noise level: 9330v JBA carrier, 7490.2v best; 6160v JBA carrier;
5130.3v second best; and 3265- as usual inaudible.

Here`s John Carver`s version: ``Show starts on time this evening but
with TimTron as host. Says he was up there because of some problems
with the superstation but never gives any details. He also stated that
6160 was down till he had a chance to fix it. He moved off mic and
worked on a cart machine for a few minutes and then played some music.
While the music was playing he ran out and restarted 6160. After the
music finished Jason wandered into the studio and was co-host to Tim.
Allan and Angela are off visiting with Angela's parents. No phone
calls this evening as Tim can't remember the control codes to stop the
phone from forwarding all calls to Allan's phone. Long talk between
the two of them about how Tim got started working for radio stations
in Maine before WBCQ existed. 6160 did not make it through the hour
and was down again. Program was off the air at 0102. John, Mid-North
Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 870, Sept 14 at 1158 UT, must be KFJZ Fort Worth again,
gospel huxter in Spanish from the south giving phone 214-723-4520,
i.e. Dallas area code. Then a song/hymn with a tropical beat
frequently reuttering ``victoria`` and ``gloria``. By 1208, XETAR is
on and in again from the SW, separable as KFJZ is fading (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 880, Sept 14 at 1203 UT, strong music east/west vs ~6 Hz SAH
with KRVN from the north, not Arkansas, but soon ID in English as
``KHAC Tse Bonito``, and KWIM, and KTBA, ``exalting the name of Jesus
across the nations``, i.e. AZ/NM reses. KHAC had been notable for
suppressed LSB, carrier plus USB only, so I recheck it both on the
DX-398 and R-75, finding that now it is DSB like almost all other
``AM`` stations, equally modulating on both sidebands!

Now I am wondering why I am not simulhearing as good or better signal
from 50/50 kW neighbor 660 KTNN? Because KHAC is obviously on 10 kW ND
day power instead of 430 watts night, both non-direxional; despite
official FCC Sept sunrise not until 1300 UT! (Oct: 1315 UT); while
KTNN would still be direxional away from us (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM. 12020.0, Sept 14 at 1235, carrier here, not 12019 --- can
VOV finally have fixed this long-standing off-frequency? EiBi still
shows 12019 including English at 1230, but no trace of a signal there,
nor is anything else scheduled on 12019 or 12020. Aoki/NDXC already
shows 12020, but has never been attentive to variants: almost
everylisting ends in -0 or -5 whether true or not, except V of Tibet`s
constantly changing 1-kHz steps around via Tajikistan (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 3325, Sept 14 at 1222, JBA carrier detectable, despite
my high local line noise level registering S9+20 on this band, so must
be good propagation. Ron Howard has been reporting NBC Bougainville,
pre-independence referendum, on an extended schedule way past 1200*;
but it could also be VOI via RRI Palangkaraya. Perhaps he will have
noted which or both were on today. Also have a JBA carrier on 2850, no
doubt the only 105-m band station, KCBS Korea North (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 14325-USB, Sept 14 at 1241, checking Hurricane Watch Net
for more to come; at first nothing, then a very weak K2? contacting an
ON4 Belgium and DJ4CH in Germany; closest to weather discussion was
remark that ``iron ore in the ground around here draws lightning``.
Seems plausible, but true? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15253.50-USB, Sept 13 at 2012, S4, 2-way in Spanish,
with crackle. Why am I the only one ever reporting such INTRUDERS into
our SWBC bands? Does no one else care? Of course, as more and more
broadcasters evacuate, such bands are more and more tempting to invade
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ASCENSION. 17800, Sept 13 at 1358, JBA signal where I seldom hear
anything on morning bandscans. Listed as DW in Hausa daily at
1300-1357; indeed off at 1424 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11860.4, Sept 13 at 1323, lite Cuban noise jamming overlaid
several times a minute by a very rapid series of beeps, all same
pitch, too fast and too many to count, as heard tuned to 11860.0-USB,
and then located frequency of beeper which is inaudible in AM mode,
i.e. not modulated but just CW-like.

Also at 1325 I hear exactly the same thing happening on 11930.4. Radio
Martí does not start either frequency until 1400. Occasional beepery
of different spans, combinations and speeds, has been heard previously
out of Cuban jammers, intriguing; could Arnie explain? Ha. And is this
something ``wrong`` or not? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13554, 13485, 13630, 13775, 13840 approx., Sept 13 at 1327,
strong FM spurblobs out of RHC 13700-AM transmitter, each about 10 kHz
wide, at intervals of approx. 70-75 kHz which may vary slightly over
time. AND yes, all with F# above middle C constant tone, just like
original outbreak years ago, but tuned in FM mode, modulation is quite
readable, while 13700 source sounds fine in AM.

By 1348 I search for further outliers and detect at least the F# tone
circa: 13990, 14060, 13844, 13410 - which was a trace around 13415
earlier. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 540, Sept 13 at 1147, ``La Ranchera de Paquimé, 540 AM``
and FM [90.5 listed], canned ID they emit every few minutes from XETX,
Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, near the frontera, and heard
immediately upon tune-in, WSW separable from earlier southerly Spanish
talk, probably XEWA SLP, unseemed religious like KDFT Ferris TX. IRCA
Mexican Log says both these XEs are staying on AM (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 580, Sept 13 at 1149, romantic song in Spanish from SSW,
and no WIBW unless that`s causing a SAH. 1200 ID as ``La Rancherita
del Aire``, which is Piedras Negras, Coahuila, with new official calls
XELRDA to match its slogan, altho it`s really rebranded XEMU which
lost the frequency and then bought it back, still llamando itself
``XEMU`` tho I heard neither call this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 840, Sept 13 at 1204 UT, Spanish from N/S, ID in passing as
``Radio Aleluia``, fade by 1206. That`s KVJY Pharr TX in the RGV as
now listed in the NRC AM Log, religious format. --- I thought this was
the unlikely station being relayed by XEPRS 1090 BCN, but it wasn`t
religious. What is the status of that deal?

IRCA Mexican Log as of Sept 1 explains under 1090 XEPRS: ``// KPAV
[sic, typo?] 104.9 FM Alamo TX. No longer // XEPE 1700 AM. Ads and
announcers in English and Spanish. With no lessee, owner is relaying a
relative`s FM station. Mentions 840 AM on air (and on `About` page of
FB), but KJAV-FM is reportedly no longer // KVJY 840 AM`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 870, Sept 13 at 1155 UT, screaming gospel huxter,
a mental case, in Spanish, --- ``¡¡¡Cristo viene!!!`` from N/S,
presumed KFJZ Fort Worth TX, but I would like to get an ID. Last time
he finished before 1200 but there was no legal ID before going right
into next infomercial. Today I clench my teeth (and eardrums?), and
keep listening. Keeps on right across ToH; at 1203 says he`s going to
terminate in 5 minutes --- but still going at 1208 when XERTA finally
gets started with XE NA from Chihuahua, barely audible from SW. And
*still* predicating by fade-out 1215, never hearing any local
references or contact info, but it was a sermon recorded in a
``noche``. All along there has been a medium SAH with WWL, which
despite easterliness, outlasts KFJZ. Could someone in The Metroplex
confirm whether KFJZ now be 100% Spanish, brokered miscellany? And
what slogan do they ever ID? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 88.1, Sept 13 at 1342 UT, KWOU Woodward is inbooming for
StarDate, so tropo is up; after breakfast to DTV bandscan; some Bad
signals on the few open UHF channels, but I always check down to VHF
6, knowing that 5-4-3-2 would be pointless for DTV tropo around
here.

And indeed at 1440 UT I *do* finally have a Bad signal on 6! This has
to be KBSD Ensign KS = Dodge City, which managed to keep its old NTSC
channel -- and there are *no* other RF6 stations in Kansas, Oklahoma,
Missouri or Arkansas (but 17 across TX, LD or LP including
Franken-FMs, no full powers).

Bill Hepburn`s tropo map predicted for 15 UT shows Level 5 Good
enhancement from Woodward thru here up into central Missouri, but
Dodge City is outside any of that.

RF 13, KETA OKC is also Bad, not decoding, blocked by some other DX,
despite antennas aimed toward it. That could also be caused by Garden
City, KUPK, but there are other 13 full-powers in Pittsburg & Topeka
KS. A glimpse of the CCI shows a Home Depot ad circa 1438 (Glenn
Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, Sept 13 at
1141-1146, before LSR of 1212 UT: all from NW on the altazimuth
wrist-mounted DX-398, i.e. Japan, Korea, etc.: 747, 774, 828, 972,
1134, 1242, 1566. 1134 and 1242 harbor 100 kW private Japan stations;
1134 also 500 kW in Korea S, but 1242 only 10 kW there. 972 slightly
stronger than the rest (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11876 & 11884, Sept 11 at 1359, weak spurblobs out of 11880
very strong dead air prior to China Plus relay, which continues until
undermodulation finally comes up at 1404, missing most of CRI `news`.
But the spurs were tweaked away at 1401. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15143.05, 15146.1, 15133.9, 15130.8 approx., Sept 11 at 2045,
weak spurs out
of RHC 15140 open but unusually strong and crackling carrier at S9+25.
Should also be one at 15136.95 but not noted. 15140 is supposed to
quit at 2030 after French. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Sept 12 at 0553, RHC English is S9+20 but just barely
modulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1050, Sept 12 at 0602, XEG Monterrey with super-hype voice
actor full Spanish ID claiming 100,000 watts ``en efectivo``, the
strongest station in Mexico or the US. Effective? meaning in a certain
direxion, but less transmitter power? That term is usually applied to
FM where ERP is almost always much greater than transmitter power,
taking into account antenna gain. Still plenty of QRM, and XEG has not
been the dominant 1050 signal at night for a long time, so I question
their claim. And it`s supposedly ND day and night. IRCA Mexican Log
shows nothing but 100/100 kW and it`s also $tereo with no FM (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 15430, Sept 12 at 1328, bit of S Asian song, dead air,
1330 resumes YL announcement and hymn. Aoki shows AWR via Trincomalee
in Bengali until 1330, nothing afterwards. But EiBi has it: 1330-1400
daily in KHS language, i.e. ``Khasi / Kahasi: India-Meghalaya, Assam
(0.8m) [kha]`` --- so how many of the 800K speakers are really
listening to this, and of them, how many are converting to 7D
Adventism?? Believe it or not, this transpolar is the strongest signal
on band, S4-S7, much more than US or Cuban signals on 15825, 15230,
15140, 15115 DRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1998 monitoring: Not confirmed Wednesday Sept
11 at 2100 on WRMI 9955; does not cut on until *2059:43 with one
iteration of IS & ID, and then, and then, something in French!
Mentions paix, instead of WOR. Yes it`s a new time for Radio For Peace
International, as clearly IDed at 2109, altho the websked still shows
WOR as of 1512 UT Sept 12; and the RFPI times only as Friday 2000-2100
15770; UT Sun 0000-0100 5950 9395. So goes another of our longtime
spots on WRMI.

Confirmed Wed Sept 11 after 2100 on WBCQ webcast while 7490.2v is a
JBA carrier.

Also confirmed UT Thu Sept 12 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, JBA in HNL.

Next WOR 1999 should be ready by early Friday Sept 13 (if not delayed
by storms), for first broadcasts at 2200 on 9955, UT Sat new time 0130
on 5010 & 5850, and also 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISITENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. Since AW keeps twitting that the WBCQ SuperStation (I call
SS, not to be confused with Spanish; make that S-S?) will be back on
the air shortly testing its latest frequency assignments, 12120, 15705
and 17735, I keep random checking, but nothing heard yet, nor on 9330:
Sept 10 at 2058; Sept 11 at 1658; Sept 12 at 1544. Latest twits of
Sept 11 and 10 provide good looks at Allan, and Angela:

bison-beastly anti-American nonsense in store for us:

** U S A. 5890, Sept 11 at 0546, WWCR back to its old trix, running
S9+40 of dead air, far outside its scheduled hours; while the others:
5935, S9+30 of DGS; 4840, S9+30 of Paul Joseph somebody; 3215,
S9+10/20 presumably TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 860, Sept 12 at 1224-1226 UT, KKOW Pittsburg KS is still
playing a polka every morning, with English lyrix, outro as ``--- Be
My Sweetheart``. Segment also greets birthdayers, in this case the DJ
himself who will take his day off tomorrow (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re the three 1540s in Texas, after my report of KGBC
Galveston off-frequency-minus, Stephen Luce, Houston replies:

``Glenn, KGBC is no longer running the Tejano format, having switched
to Spanish language religion a few months ago. During critical hours I
have heard KEDA underneath KGBC, so it might be them.

"Tejano" refers to Texas Hispanics (particularly south Texas) whose
families have lived in the state for many generations. The Tejano
music style enjoyed its peak popularity in the 1990's, but has fizzled
since then, with little new product being released. There have been
attempts to revive it on radio, but the listener demographics skew too
old, which is why the format failed on KGBC (not to mention the poor
1540 AM signal in the broader Houston market.)

Also, has anyone confirmed what co-channel KZMP in Dallas-Fort Worth
is now running following the demise of ESPN Deportes Radio?``

To which Mauno Ritola, Finland, replies: ``Stephen, they have been
heard relaying KXYZ 1320, but apparently not all the time? Seems to
carry ranchera, just checked, attached. KZMP 1540.mp3``

ID on that is ``La Ranchera 103.7`` --- but in the WTFDA FM DB, not a
single Texan of the dozen on 103.7 is Spanish, let alone ranchera, and
the local one for The Metroplex would surely be KVIL, still shown as
alternative rock. Or were they saying 106.7?? Hard to distinguish in
off-air-recording. YES! WTFDA DB already has it:

``KZZA 106.7 MUENSTER TX 75.0 75.0 620.0 620.0 33-26-13 97-29-05
Spanish 548E Title & Artist La Ranchera La Authentica [sic] Musica
Mexicana 106.7 FM Rock [sic] RANCHERA LA RANCHERA 106.7 //KZMP 1540``

One might expect Muenster to be speaking German rather than Spanish; a
town of 1.5 kilopersons, it`s way out west of Gainesville on the way
to Wichita Falls (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 11769.903, Sept 9 at 2033, VON one of better 25mb signals
at this time, S9-S7 but very undermodulated, can`t tell the language
but presumably not English. Must also check here when 7254.9 be
missing for the 0600 broadcast, as Ivo Ivanov found it on instead,
``Voice of Nigeria on wrong 11770v, instead of 7255v kHz, September 10
from 0600 Hausa, from 0700 Fulfulde and upcoming from 0800 English``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 930, Sept 10 at 0028 UT, WKY OKC in English! With the
demise of ESPN-D[eportes], what to do with this legacy station? Sports
talk in English! In fact, at 0047 plugs sibling station WWLS The
Sports Animal (98.1) which is also on KWPN 640 Moore, but not // at
the moment. At 0201 UT I find that 930 is // 640 but running 7 seconds
behind it. And again at 0620 UT when both are on ESPN Radio (in
English).

What a great variety Radio License Holding CBC, LLC are providing!
BTW, these two stations are not part of any other AM cluster in OKC.
according to FCC Licensee info. Oh, yeah?

At 1459 UT Sept 10, I monitor the ToH breaks on all three stations.
640 and 930 are not // but 930 is // 98.1, if not synched. At 1502
legal ID on 98.1 starts with WWLS, then a bunch of mostly AM
affiliates all over OK, to which WKY has been added at the end; as
part of Cumulus. And the same multi-station ID comes around 27 seconds
later on 930. But FCC AM Query shows Cumulus is *not* the licensee of
any AM station in OK. How about FM? Allegedly, ONLY ONE: 107.3 KOMS
Poteau! What is going on here? Well, RLH CBC LLC must be a subsidiary
of Cumulus, but why? Try to reach the former on Wikipedia and you are
redirected to Cumulus without explanation. Could CBC stand for the
obvious?

On FM, the following in OK are licensed to Radio License Holding CBC
LLC, per FCC FM Query: WWLS-FM 98.1 The Village [NW OKC suburb where I
used to live], KYIS 98.9 OKC, KATT 100.5 OKC, KKWD 104.9 Bethany.
Except for 104.9 which I could not hear anyway, the other three FM
would get knocked off the air simultaneously via storms.

WKY used to run some commercials and PubAffs shows in English; so now
will they insert anything in Spanish? When ESPN-D appeared, WKY
dismissed their ``La Indomable`` Spanish DJ staff. From Nov. 2014:
http://www.w4uvh.net/WKY930AM-ad.jpg

Former ESPN-D affiliates everywhere must be trying to find something
to replace it; will English or Spanish prevail? See my recent report
of 1650 KSVE El Paso TX (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1580, Sept 9 at 1757 UT, I notice that KOKB Blackwell is
back on the air; might have resumed Sept 8 before I noticed. Had been

** OKLAHOMA. 88.3, as of Sept 10, I have been meaning to note that the
Family Radio satellator in Enid, K202BY, has been totally off the air
again for about a week. Not just dead air! A little less QRM for my SW
caradio feeder set on 88.3; and with it off, 88.3 open again for KOSR
Stillwater, if not DX (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

NE/SW before fade. That`s Carthage MO, near Joplin, ENE. Could Scott`s

BTW, not to be confused with KDMO, the airport ID in Sedalia MO

Also confirmed UT Monday September 9 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, poor vs

Also confirmed UT Monday September 9 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, VP S5

Regarding the UT Sun 0130 on 5850 overtaken by VORW, Jeff White has
agreed to add WOR to UT Sat 0130 on 5850 to the NW for the foreseeable
future. Unless there be further changes, this may also be // 5010 to

** U S A. 15825 & 13845, Sept 9 at 1451, WWCRs hitting S9+30 rather
than JBA carriers, demonstrating that HF sporadic E is still in play;
ham Es map at 1526 shows only one Es spot over Georgia with 82 MHz
MUF; and no contacts on 28 MHz. But at 1625 there is a 32 MHz MUF
about halfway between Nashville and here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1539.95 approx., Sept 8 at 0602 UT, LAH against 1540.0
stations such as KXEL. I`ve been noticing this for some time. On MW
with all the QRM, it`s harder to measure to three decimal places. In
the past this has been KGBC Galveston TX. DF seems to fit, and
apparently it is off-minus still or again, as Terry Krueger, now moved
to Niceville FL in the Panhandle, has just reported to DXLD:

``1539.903, TEXAS, KGBC, 0918 August 28, 2019. Very poor, with
Mexi-tunes on peaks, and confirmed it's KGBC per D. Crawford who had
it a few days earlier and since on 1539.903. And not to be confused
with the still off-channel and variable KBOA Kennett MO on
1539.996-1540.005, this check on the low side with "Too Much, Too
Little, Too Late" by Denice Williams & Johnny Mathis.``

Per 2019/2020 NRC AM Log, which does not deal with offfrequenciness,
latest KGBC format is Tejano, U4 2500/250 watts. Beware, so is KEDA
San Antonio, Tejano, which I guess refer only to music style. However,
música is feminine, so why isn`t it called ``tejana``; machismo [where
the ch is not pronounced k!]? Also, is it possible for a station
outside Texas to be Tejano? Or e.g. if it play the same style of music
from OK, would it be ``Oclajomano``? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** INDIA. See OMAN [non]

** MEXICO. 800, Sept 7 at 1210, Spanish virtually zero-beat with KQCV
OKC, which I null as much as possible; discussing border issues at
Juárez; 1211 mentions ``Calibre``, keyword for XEROK, contraxion for
``Canal Libre``, as if it were still a ``clear channel``; 1211 rooster
crows (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 870, Sept 7 as I try to ID the SS from the South as KFJZ
Fort Worth [see U S A], by 1202 I am also hearing the choral Mexican
NA from the SW, which has to be XETAR; 1204, multilingual XETAR IDs;
1208 fades up ``XETAR, Su voz en la Sierra Tarahumara``, but I`ve
heard it much better before at SRS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 7 DTV, Sept 7 around 0415-0440 UT, KOCO ``5`` is on
the verge, continually breaking up during the Jimmy Kimmel show and a
bit of Nightline. One of my TV antennas has trouble getting a
sufficient signal from our `local` ABC affiliate. So I have a fest
snapping still after still of pixillated DTV breakup art, 67 of them;
to be winnowed down to the best of the best with the most variety for
my gallery. QRX (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 36 DTV, Sept 7 at 1352 UT, some tropo from Tulsa area
judging from maps and Bad signals, but this one decodes as: DTV 17-1
TBN HD. That is not helpful, but as W9WI.com confirms, this is the new
repacked channel for 1000 kW, KDOR-TV in Bartlesville, ex-17; so it
will not interfere any more with Enid`s K17JN-D, whatever its
masquerade. PSIP lineup:
17-1, TBN HD
17-2, Hilsong [sic, gotta delete a letter to get it down to 7]
17-3, COMBO
17-4, Enlace
17-5, TBN SD
W9WI.com disagrees on a couple: 17-3 JUCE; 17-5 Salsa. As with some

** OMAN [non]. 9620, Sept 7 at 1443, since I have the OH5AE SDR in

distortion, and no trace of Oman. 1445 ID in passing as All India

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1998 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov reports
from Bulgaria: ``GERMANY, World of Radio#1998 via Hamburger

0630-0700 6190 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg CeEu English Sat, fair to good``

Barely confirmed audible on 9485-CUSB Hamburger Lokalradio, via OH5AE
SDR, Sat Sept 7 at 1445, vs heavy splash from 9490 Romania. Before
that undetectable on UTwente SDR.

Alan Gale reports: ``Hi Glenn, I'm hearing World of Radio here in
north west England again today, not very strong but it's definitely
there on 9485 kHz and even came up a bit towards the middle part but
then faded out completely after around 1450 UT.

I tried it on my SDRplay today and found that a USB bandwidth of
around 1.5 kHz worked best, but with the splatter it wasn't easy to
understand too much of what was being said, especially with some
fading on the signal as well. As you can see from the waterfall
display, a LSB signal would have no trouble at all, it's just the
upper sideband that is suffering, and even a double sideband AM signal
would probably fare better as you could at least tune lower or use
your IF shift to remove some of the splatter. Alan.``

Also confirmed, Sat Sept 7 at 2100 on WRMI 9955 after IS & ID loop,
S9-S7 and fluttery, upcut at ``---with World of Radio 1998``.

NOT confirmed UT Sunday Sept 8 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, which had been
our only WRMI frequency across North America; instead music, and soon
VORW mailbag. WRMI sked has been revised to show 5850 // 5010 during
this hour but still claims WOR on both now; while VORW was already
scheduled this hour on UT Fridays; a mistake, John, or a change? I do
confirm that much weaker 5010 is now // 5850. And not // to any of the
others WRMIs.

Confirmed UT Sunday Sept 8 at 0347 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO,
about 12 minutes into so started late around 0335; good S9+20 but
considerable storm crashes, from eastern NM into the OK panhandle.

** U S A. 9330.13v, Friday Sept 6 at 2151, WBCQ is on here at S8 with
hard rock music instead of NOAA Weather Radio relay. Must be gearing
up for AAAWWW. At 2222 the modulation is cutting off and on.

7490.21v, Friday Sept 6 at 2153, `Behaviour Night` music, but too much
noise here to enjoy Sir Scratchy and his ancient tunes.

(7490), UT Sat Sept 7 from 0000, WBCQ webcast of `Allan and Angela
Weiner WorldWide`, since I am busy editing on computer, don`t even try
to hear it on SW. Ramsey calls in almost immediately, and I keep
listening since there is hardly and politix this week, just about the
SuperStation and technology, such as railing against computer
dependence --- keep it out of our transmitters!

But first at 2359 Sept 6, I notice that previous program wrapping up,
radiosermontime.org thinx he will be on WINB 9625 [sic] tomorrow, and
also on WWRB 5050. Clunk, hangs up phone. That weblink does not work.

First, AW makes it clear that he does *not* want to be stuffed
post-mortem, note that Angela! Even if it`s legal in strange Canada.

6160 has been retubed by TimTron, at a cost of tens of thousands of
dollars; and blew 800-amp fuses.

Lack of equipment support: Ampegon that went bankrupt are dicks.
Continental people are dickish.

One guy formerly with Ampegon, RF engineer named Norbert is now here
working on the antenna. Antenna tuning unit is in the tubular sexion.
50 and 100 ohms have to be matched for different frequencies. The ATU
has four caps which cost $18K each. Two coils are ganged together by a
chain, which broke. A special 8-mm chain, hard to replace, but Angela
located one which was shipped in from NC, arrived today. It`s like a
bicycle chain, and lubricated like one. AW went up 40 feet to install
it, and now that is working. Tonight`s show is ``quinta-casting`` on
3265, 5130, 6160, 7490, 9330=backup not SS.

At 0055 looks thru the new issue of Free Radio Weekly, just published,
mentions pirates logged and frequencies, but no dates, times or
credit; including YHWH by me which he thinx is religious --- hee hee,
yeah, anti-Christ, as I often denominate it but not this time. Then to
e-mail. Confirms that 9330 has been relaying NOAA Weather Radio, from
FL, SC, NC, and would do that again if needed. Thinx that Our Father
is responsible for steering Dorian away from US mainland. Prayer until
0104, then plugs 6160 available 24/7 at $35 an hour; or would like to
lease it out full-time.

5130 is a ``loss-leader`` subsidized partially by Larry Will and AW,
now offering a fall pirate special at $10/hour for a minimum of two
hours --- avoid getting busted with a 10-megadollar fine. Some time
also available on 7490, but not 9330 or 3265; finally ends at 0107.

Here`s John Carver`s version: ``Tonight's show started on time on
7490. Allan and Angela in the studio. Opening talk concerned a
statement about wanting to stuff Allan when he died. Allan said no.
First phone call at 0005 from Ramsey, pointing out to Allan that Roy
Rogers had Trigger stuffed when he died. Discussion about having
people stuffed and then one on preserving people's heads after they
died.

There has been some support from the old Ampegon company starting to
trickle through. They've sent an engineer from Germany who has been
helping them adjust the antenna. A chain that is used during the
antenna change broke. Angela found a man in North Carolina who could
duplicate the chain. Was shipped out before the hurricane and Allan
and John had to go forty feet above ground to install the chain. They
had to modify the antenna adjustment plate for the new chain to work
but it's working properly now.

Long discussion about how poorly digital and computerized things work
and how Allan wishes they would be built the old way. Reading of
emails at 0054 beginning with the Free Radio Weekly. Closing prayer at
0101. It was announced that they have a special on airtime on 5130.
Two hour minimum time slot at ten dollars per hour. Program was off
the air at 0106 and then into Brother Stair. Despite the signal
reports this evening I had a poor signal or no signal on the
frequencies I tried. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

700, Sept 6 at 1205, ``La Poderosa de Parral, 90.3``, i.e. XEGD,

NOAA Weather Radio, but can`t catch any local mentions, let alone ID

Still storming. Still beaming on 9330khz with weather info. Blessings

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search: I hear a 1 kHz het

this is a waste, insignificant, but I know I am really getting all
these signals from multiple countries, even if any audio for a
``definite ID`` is unlikely here in deep North America. Usual method:
on R75, 9-kHz steps tuning USB 1 kHz below each channel to detect
tell-tale hets of 1000 Hz.

This is at 0255-0304 UT Sept 6: 531, 621, 684, 711, 774-, 837, 954,
999, 1098, 1107, 1503, 1566, 1575. 621 stands out strongest, probably

pilot 999 is most likely COPE, Madrid, Spain, by proximity and power
50 kW.

different: MW bandscan at 1 kHz below each 10-kHz channel in USB, to
``hear the hets``. Even tho this is far from an ideal quiet location
and far from ideal equipment (R75 with 100` E-W longwire, meaning it`s
a bit deaf to the N/S, such as not hearing 820 WBAP), I listen for
frequencies with more than one carrier beating --- some of them very
slow, to slow, to medium, to fast --- and skipping those with no
signal or definitely only one signal. It would take a *lot* more time
to count the beats and calculate each SAH.

This indicates that there are remnants of groundwave from some
second-tier stations around here I seldom or never hear in the clear.
Of course, I am not interested in amassing station totals so am making
no such claims, just an exercise in monitoring and propagation. I will
include the most likely sources based on proximity, top station first.
Remember that we do have some of the highest inland ground
conductivity around here, in the 30s.

I do this between 1840 and 1903 UT Sept 3, i.e. just after local mean
noon always at 1832 UT, when there will be the *least* possibility of
MW skywave, especially now still in summer. Some frequencies with one
fairly strong semi-local seem to be wobbling; hard to be certain if
transmitter fault or receiver overload. As usual when tuning MW or LW
on this receiver, both Preamp 2 and Preamp 1 are OFF. But further ATT
is not engaged. And of course there is no DFing with the LW.

Quite possibly no other DX editor will wish to dedicate the space to
publish this, but here it is in my original log report, which took at
least twice as long afterwards to compile as to carry out.

** CUBA. After many months, I`m again hearing multiple FM spurs from
RHC; on almost daily morning bandscans, no sign of them until now,
Sept 3 at 1337 as I am tuning downward, first encountered circa 13830
but covering 10-11 kHz, 13825-13836. Also 13758-13772, 13626-13637,
13562-13572 weaker; trace circa 13500.

Very strong AM signals on both 13740 and 13700 before 1400, but these
FM spurs are obviously out of 13700 at approx. 65 kHz intervals; and
they are still there after 13740 is off at 1400 check.

Then I search further: FM on 13894-13903; trace circa 13963: these two
higher blobs I had not noticed initially. The closer ones are very
strong too. Come to think of it, I did not notice any F# tone along
with them which used to accompany, but rechecking at 1520 they are all
off as is 13700. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

breakup, trying to cram multiple satellite channels, K17JN-D Enid has
been fixed but still anomalous. Now both the STBox and the Sanyo DTV
get the same subchannels, no longer the extra ones up to -202.

This is obviously still our local K17JN-D satellator from same site
just west of Enid, N of Chestnut Ave, W of Boomer and E of St Hwy
152.

But now it`s identifying as KCYH-LD!!! and remapping to ch 41!!!
That`s really the Clarion Broadcasting Group parent station in Ardmore
at the other side of Oklahoma. FCC TV Query shows it on RF 34, but a
CP for 41, and yes, that CP is still at G.C. for Ardmore, not Enid;
and FCC still lists K17JN-D with its near-Enid G.C.

When tuned directly to 41-2 and 41-4, the STB shows no signal on RF
34, but that may be saved from some DX long ago.

Here`s the lineup now, not breaking up at all:

41-1, KCYH-LD, 3ABN bug LR

DO NOT DESTROY RADIO ROMANIA INTERNATIONAL!

The Romanian Syndicate of Journalists MediaSind, through the Radio
Romania Branch, expresses its concern at the intention of the SRR
president-general director, Georgică Severin, to suspend the shortwave
broadcast of the Radio Romania International station.

Due to the superficiality with which the responsible factors of the
institution treated the problem of the allocated budget, the Romanian
Broadcasting Society lost, at the last rectification, 10 million lei,
an amount without which the good functioning of the company cannot be
ensured.

In order to cover this consistent deficit, according to some public
statements of the President - General Manager, the expenses with the
shortwave transmitters owned by Radiocom, which broadcasts Radio
Romania International (RRI) programs in 13 languages, would be cut.
dialects.

The 'solution' to closing the shortwave emission, even if it is the
most handy, having immediate effect, is a totally wrong one. Indeed,
as hypocritically motivated by the Georgica Severin decision, these
transmitters are not useful in the country, with the expansion of the
FM network.

The gravity of the decision of the Radio management is, however, a
huge one, undermining even the national interest, with which even
Georgică Severin has no right to play. Let us not forget that Romania
has the second diaspora in the world, as a percentage of the
population, after Syria. From the recent estimates of the Ministry for
Romanians Everywhere, around the country live about 9.7 million
countrymen whom we have to treat as Romanians with full rights, who
have the right to information, including by Radio Romania
International.

The head of the SRR, Georgică Severin, had to make energetic and
repeated requests from the Government in order to obtain sufficient
funds for the good functioning of the institution, including for the
antennas, taking into account the future presidential elections of
2019 and parliamentary from 2020. Why Is the main means of
transmitting messages to Romanians abroad exactly during this
pre-election period being abolished? Should we consider this gesture
merely as a sign of disrespecting the diaspora?

On the other hand, it should be noted that RRI issues programs for the
Aromanian communities in the world, as well as for foreigners, in
general, interested in Romania and the geographical area in which we
are, RRI being thus an efficient polyglot software soft diplomacy
tool. .

Let us not forget then that the shortwave broadcast has a strategic
character, because, in case of necessity, of disasters, of calamities,
but also of suspension, by hostile decisions of Romania, of the
Internet, the Romanian state can communicate with the Romanians from
abroad and with the world at large. As it is known, the Internet is
extremely vulnerable to political decisions. Also, in the case of
catastrophic floods, earthquakes, conflicts, short waves remain the
only reliable way to communicate with the world.

Therefore, the idea of stopping the shortwave broadcast, coupled
with another simplistic idea that RRI will successfully broadcast on
the Internet, can produce serious effects, jeopardizing Romania's
national security.

Exiting the Internet only means, in fact, closing the RRI station,
which is in contravention of Law 41. According to art. 1 of the law,
SRR makes programs for abroad, not online content; broadcast means
radio broadcast, not online!

The exit of the RRI from the shortwave frequencies (this is a heritage
of about 7,000 frequencies that are traded biannually by international
broadcasters) will result in the loss of frequencies in favor of other
countries. At the same time, Radiocom stations in Ţigăneşti, Săftica
and Galbeni, where the 5 stations used for RRI are located, will be
closed and Radiocom employees will be relocated or even fired. And as
according to a harmful Romanian tradition, any provisional decision
becomes final, it is hard to believe that it will return to the
previous situation, to the issuance on short waves, even if the
Government would allocate the necessary funds.

Closing the shortwave transmitters, without offering other means of
transmission in exchange, would practically equate to the
disappearance of the station; radio means broadcast on radio waves,
analog or digital; a station on the Internet is no longer radio, it's
just a multimedia product.

The next logical step, after a possible shutdown of the shortwave
emission at RRI, will be the personnel restructuring. See the unhappy
experience with Radio3Net station, which is only online and
experimentally on DAB, in Bucharest, which has under-sized staff, even
under the conditions of online production.

We consider that giving up the short wave, in whole or in part, is not
a decision that falls within the competence of a president-general
director because it concerns Romania's strategic interests. In this
situation, the CSAT opinion should be requested and, in the
Parliament, the Law on the organization and functioning of the SRR
should be changed. Or, Georgică Severin is far from having the
agreement of these institutions.

The role of RRI has been and is very important: promoting the country
abroad and spreading Romania's opinions worldwide. By giving up any
transmitter, whether from long, short or medium waves, the main object
of activity of the SRR is affected, which is the realization and
dissemination of programs (according to art. 15 of law 41).

Taking into account the serious situation that could arise as a result
of the decision of the head of SRR, MediaSind Radio Romania requests
the Parliament of Romania to intervene in an emergency regime to stop
the destruction of the Radio Romania International station.

** U S A. 5050, UT Sun Sept 1 at 0119, no signal from WWRB, nor on any
possible 3-MHz frequency; perhaps the Saturday night broadcast is
already over, altho on Sunday night = UT Monday it was still running
two hours later along with 10100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** VIETNAM [non]. 7315, UT Sun Sept 1 at 0123, VOV relay via WHRI in

Officially registered as VV after 0130 which has been in English as

UNIDENTIFIED. 11999 approx., Sept 1 at 0130, weak SSB 2-way I cannot

** CUBA. 9778-9779, Aug 31 at 0348, CRI Plus English relay on 9790-AM
at S9+40/50! Also has FMish spur around this area, and somewhat
readable if tuned in FM mode. Much weaker one on hi side around 9801;
another blob circa 9668 may have been something else. Something`s
always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640.04, Aug 31 at 1345, RHC 9640.0 with hum & crackle, and
additional carrier +40 Hz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Aug 31 at 0354, Station YHWH presumed is JBA
in HNL with Noise Reduxion switched on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1490, Aug 30 at 2132 UT; Aug 31 at 1835 UT, KMFS Guthrie,
Jimmy Swaggart`s sobbery radio station, continues open carrier/dead
air, reconfirmed by DF from Guthrie direxion. I wonder if they know,
even care about this, back in Bâton Rouge (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17 DTV, Aug 31 at 2305 UT, K17JN-D Enid, 3ABN
satellator, no change, still multiple channels all broken up as it
tries to cram entire satellite transponder feed thru broadcast TV
transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Friday August 30 at 2203, REE Justin Coe playing some
Joan Baez and talking about her; why? her last concert in July before
retiring was in Madrid. Usual VG signal at this hour but affected by
local hi line noise level which now is extending up to 12 MHz, altho
diminished (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1997 monitoring: confirmed first
SWBC, Friday August 30 at 2200, on WRMI 9955, S9-S4 and not upcut
unlike the airings at 2100.

Also confirmed UT Saturday August 31 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S9+10/20
including high line noise level which built up again quickly after our
heavy rainfall temporarily quelled it Friday morning.

Also confirmed Sat Aug 31 at 1448 the 1430 on Hamburger Lokalradio,
9485-CUSB, not on the UTwente SDR, but barely audible on the OH5AE SDR
vs huge splash from 9490 Romania.

Also confirmed Sat Aug 31 at 2100 on WRMI 9955 after IS & ID loop.
That stopped by 2100:00, but WOR JIP a sesquisecond later at 2100:01.5
when I am already at ``--- 1997``, as the first eight words already
started playing out several seconds earlier before the unsynchronized
transmitter picked up the feed. I wonder if this happpen to other 2100
programs? Next:

Earlier WRMI was bracing to close down all transmitters if winds were
high enough to cause antenna arcing; this now seems less likely, but
Okee might still be on the edge of the projected path of Hurricane
Dorian. They hoped to keep the `test` frequency of 5800 on the air
without explaining how.

No further FB notices by end of August, but here is one reply earlier:
``Jorge Garzón Gutiérrez --- ¿Precisan monitorizar la fx de 5800 para
comunicar si hay algún fallo o comprobar la calidad? Lo podemos
comunicar desde el norte de España. Mucha precaución y coraje!!!``

Also for the record, a phone number change: ``August 29 at 2:51 PM ·
WRMI Audio by Phone --- The telephone number to hear our live stream
on 9955 kHz has recently changed. The new number is +1-641-741-1762.
We will try to update on online and on-air announcements as soon as
possible`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. (7490), UT Sat Aug 31 from 0000, AAAWWW on WBCQ, this time
more talk about radio and tech than politix, so listen some more. At
0023 he says that the Super-Station will be testing ``this`` week on
three new frequencies, 12120, 15705 and 17735 at various times,
probably staring at 50 kW level, then 100, 150, 200, 250, 500, 600.

(This corresponds to the latest HFCC registration as 500 kW, Arabic
only, 60 degrees only --- so who needs a rotatable antenna? from 0900
on 15705, 1200 on 17735, and 2000-0857 on 12120 --- oblivious of the
continuous RTTY on 12120 who won`t be too happy about being blasted by
500 kW of broadcast RF. Per UDXF Logs it`s the US Navy`s ubiquitous
NAU in Isabela, Puerto Rico).

So WBCQ must have got the needed documentation on how to tune up on
other frequencies than 9330. But are there any ex-Ampegon engineers
back at WBCQ by now?

9330, BTW is on the air now and close to 9330.0, but NOT the SS. At
0055 I check all five frequencies despite the HLNL: 9330.0 S9 and
almost as good as 7490.1 at S9+10; 6160.1 at S9+10; 5130.37 at S9+20,
but 7, 6 and 5 readings include the HLNL. 3264.9 is as always JBA.

As usual he gets to E-mail near the end of the hour, says there isn`t
much this week; but somehow keeps going way over until 0118, cut to
``He Is Coming Again`` hymn, except on 5 MHz which has changed to
unreadable talk something. Here`s John Carver`s version:

``Tonight's show started a few seconds early on 7490. Allan and Angela
in the studio this evening. Opening comments about Florida and the
hurricane. First phone call at 0012 from Freddie. Superstation is down
for now because of antenna work so the 9330 broadcast this evening is
from a classic transmitter. It was also announced that the 6160
transmitter had been retubed at a cost of thousands of dollars.
Special fall rates for 6160 of thirty-five dollars per hour. Allan
said time on the transmitter is open except for AAWWW slot. He also
announced that the 6160 transmitter was running compatible side
band.

It was also mentioned that soon there would be open time on 3265 for
sale. In response to Freddie he said that the plenum had not been
replaced as of yet so 3265 was still running on backup transmitter.
Then Allan said to watch his twitter feed next week as testing would
resume on the superstation. They would be trying 12120, 15705 and
17735.

Next phone call at 0027 with caller singing the praises of a
discontinued Grundig receiver. Angela then had a question about an
article she'd read about 5G dumbphones and increased radiation and
health risks. Allan went into a long discussion about the different
types of radiation, effects of microwaves, amount of radiation from
dumbphones from 1G to 5G. Phone call from Ramsey at 0041 continues
discussion of harm of RFI, EMI etc. Phone call at 0049 on the other
phone while Ramsey was still on the air. Finished the call with Ramsey
and then Pirate Joe gave a signal report and then continued the
discussion of radiation from devices.

Reading of emails at 0059 and closing prayer at 0109. Program was off
the air at 0118 and 7490 went into what was assumed to be Brother
Stair. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 1090, Aug 31 at 0403 UT, dead air loops E/W, no doubt KAAY
Little Rock tho some understation talk is JBA. By 0405 KAAY revives
with country hymn (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9369.0-USB, Aug 31 at 1343, 2-way in Spanish INTRUDERS
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 0022 UT September 1

Glenn Hauser logs August 28-29-30, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** BRAZIL. 4885+, Aug 28 at 0617, JBA carrier just enough to tell it`s
slightly offset+plus, but is it R. Clube do Pará or the usual
understation, Rdif. Acreana, Rio Branco. Can anyone confirm which or
both still active? Someone was wondering if these stations had burned
up, but I would not expect that in the cities rather than the jungle.
I was lucky to detect this much before 2.6 inches of rain abated my
line noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Aug 29 at 1356:
10160, Chinese, VP
11100, Chinese, VP
11460, Chinese, then music, S4-S7
Three more WOOB JBA carriers on 12350, 13150 an 13320 compute to be
1390 KCRC mixtures with RHC or RM on 13740, 11760, 11930 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 7600, Aug 30 at 1321, CNR1 jammer, S5-S7 vs intermittent
RTTY 7597, // 9680 but no highers found.

At least I can DX the 7 MHz band, as we got 2.6 inches of rain! since
0730 UT which washed out the high line noise, probably temporarily;
and now I can hear the weaker lightning crashes. Aoki/NDXC shows 7600
is a Sound of Hope frequency available 23 hours a day, so so is the
jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Aug 28 at 0607 check, NO signal from VON. How can a
major (well at least high-power) world broadcaster be so unreliable?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1490, Aug 30 at 1652 UT and still past 1730, DEAD AIR
form KMFS Guthrie, a tremendous improvement over the usual gospel
huxtering: no one at station may care, or cannot even stand it either
enough to monitor when it break down (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Correxion: The TBN ``14`` call on RF 15 is KTBO, not
KOPX, which is the Ion station. Fixed:

I had not checked OKC DTV stations during the storm, but bandscan Aug
27 at 1817 and 1930 UT finds RF 15 and 16 missing! I.e. TBN 14 and
Daystar 46, nothing but gospel huxters. Both KTBO and KOCM-DT are back
at next check 0450 UT Aug 28, but KOCM signal is Bad, mostly not
decoding (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Tonight [UT Thursday Aug 29] I am getting extremely
strange stuff in Enid on RF ch 17, which I assume is just the local
3ABN transmitter K17JN-D (altho there are signs of tropo on some
other, open channels).

First tuned around 0400 UT Aug 29, re-surveyed after 0500. Around 0430
I snapped a number of photos. EVERYTHING is totally broken up. There
is too much of it to capture for my DTV Pixillated Video Art Gallery!

But here are what I snapped, mostly on different subchannels one after
another, but not keeping track of exactly which be which. Some are
partially recognizable, others pure ART, as also linked from

On the STB PSIP display, DTV 59-1 thru 59-7, similar lineup to what
w9wi.com has for the Amarillo ch 17,
{e.g, K17HI Amarillo

including some audio only channels such as 59.7 Radio 74 which we also
get on 89.3 KIEL Loyal.

59!!! we have never had an original 59 around here and W9WI.com has
only two stations on it elsewhere.

On my SANYO DTV these display as 17- whatever and keep going to 8, 10,
11, 13, 61, 71, 75, 111, 122, 133, 201 and finally 202, as I keep
changing channel upward, none of these having been programmed in. Some
are labeled AUDIO ONLY, which I think I have never seen before on OTA
DTV. Some are UNSUPPORTED AUDIO CODEC. 17-8 has glimpses of Russian
text, NADEZHDA bug. All are breaking up video and/or audio, even tho
the STB signal meter is strong, not steady but fluxuating, still well
into the Good range.

Here is the lineup as best I can determine:

59-1 thru 59-7 display as such only on the STB, none higher like on
the Sanyo as 17-1 thru 202

UAC = unsupported audio codec error message mid-screen

Same thing happening following days, still morning of Aug 30 (gh)

Glenn, The info you refer to (channel lineup) is from the Galaxy 19 Ku
satellite (transponder 11842 H). See attached jpeg. The 3ABN feeds are
on the same satellite.
https://www.lyngsat.com/Galaxy-19.html
(Scroll down to 11842 H and you will see the list)

So this has to be coming from one of your local LD's or DTV repeater
stations that are sending out that satellite MUX. IF they are not
supposed to be doing that, then someone obviously changed something in
their satellite receiver from what you have been familiar seeing.

You can always send an email to the owner...?

(Jim Thomas, Springfield, Missouri, ibid.)

I believe Jim's analysis is spot on. Someone made a mistake and is
trying to stuff the 35 or 40 Mbps DVB-S satellite transponder through
the 19 Mbps OTA transmitter, which is causing your awful breakup and
the long and somewhat incoherent-seeming list of channels. I don't
know quite why it's mapping to 59-x, that's weird, but the rest of it
makes perfect sense.(- Trip Ericson, http://www.rabbitears.info Aug

I am not going to try to contact them, rather monitor how long this

Irina. Meanwhile I have inquired of the boardops if this be a
permanent change? No, Robert says it`s a timing issue, back to normal
next week. [WORLD OF RADIO 1997]

** U S A. 5800, Aug 28 at 0610, trace of music, could be // 9395, not
5950; the strange WRMI ``test frequency`` they hope to keep on the air
even if all the other transmitters have to close down during high
winds from Dorian, even power outage.

This further raises the question, is 5800 really somewhere else than
Okeechobee? Like maybe the abandoned 9955 site Hialeah? WRMI has been
very mum about this; altho in Jeff`s HFCC 100 kW at Okeechobee is also
claimed for 5800 since ``RMI`` means Okeechobee, only; but would not
be the only imaginary info in HFCC. Ivo still employs the obsolete
site abbr. YFR (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475, Aug 30 at 0407, WTWW-1 on the air with day frequency
at night, no 5830; here it`s holding up at S9/+20 with hateful SFAW,
referring to ``Governor Chickenlooper down in Colorado``. Wonder if
this be more recent than by defunct PPPP (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1520, Aug 28 at 0618 UT, stupid sports talk vs KOKC,
especially when nulled, but making fast SAH. In past this has proven
to be KOLM Rochester MN, must be on 10 kW day power rather than 800
watts night U8. KOKC has hobbled itself by refusing to fix its
tornado-damaged antenna, staying with STA of 10 or 12 kW ND, rather
than 50/50 kW U2 as it is still licensed, per new NRC AM Log, which
does not get into STAs no matter how non-temporary (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 10125-LSB, Aug 30 at 1334, INTRUDER, 2-way lots of

UNIDENTIFIED. 13572.75, Aug 30 at 1340, Spanish 2-way INTRUDERS, about

** CUBA. 13700, Aug 27 at 1346, RHC is S9+10 but just barely

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Fulfilling dire warnings all day, a major storm
hit the OKC area (but not Enid!), the evening of Aug 26, early UT
August 27, resulting in the major TV stations blowing away their
entire primetime schedules for wall-to-wall coverage. Mike Morgan on
KFOR even called it an ``inland hurricane`` since winds were up to 80
mph. Caused a lot of damage, with hail, flooding, many power lines
down; up to 85 kilocustomers blacked out at peak per OG&E
Systemwatch.

Not until 0542 UT do I start checking whether any radio stations are
affected, and some are, even in the Enid area:

1520, Aug 27 at 0542 UT, KOKC is dead air, still so at 0554; I can`t
hear its FM translator on 95.3 either, whether off or dead air as it`s
marginal anyway.

1640, Aug 27 at 0545 UT, KZLS ``Enid`` (Hennessey) is dead air, maybe
because it`s programmed out of OKC. Still at 0554;

however at 0552 I nulled its carrier as much as possible to hear
another station with music. Normally it`s WTNI Biloxi MS, reported in
MW Circle as ex-sports:

``** U S A. 1640 WTNI [Biloxi MS] --- Yesterday I moved my antenna
from its summer position (about 270 degrees) to the winter one (about
300). LA has been a dead loss from here this year although to be fair
I have been away a great deal.

I was rewarded with good reception today after months of very little
(conditions I think rather than the antenna move working a miracle).
It's probably been reported elsewhere but I noted that 1640 WTNI seems
to have abandoned sport. ID noted as "This is Classic Country 103.5
The Possum". Also 1680 KRJO noted with "99.7 My FM" [Monroe LA]
(Paul Crankshaw, Aug 21, MWCircle yg via DXLD)

Thanks, Paul. WTNI used to simulcast 1490 WANG sport "The Champ". The
change of 1490 WANG to "103.5 The Possum" and country format was
reported in March in MWN. However at that time 1640 WTNI retained the
sport format. Neither NRC nor IRCA have subsequently reported that
1640 WTNI has now rejoined 1490, ditching the sport format for
country. Wikipedia says that this change occurred in June 2019, but I
can't find independent confirmation.

KRJO's slogan "99.7 My FM" appears also not to have been reported by
NRC or IRCA. The format change to Adult Contemporary was noted in
March 2019, although the format, slogan and repeater 99.7FM addition
all date from 2016 according to RadioInsight
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/107211/99-7-myfm-debuts-in-monroe/
73 (/Andrew Brade, ibid.)

Hello Andrew and Paul, 1680 KRJO noted by my addition to last year`s
NRC log and in 2019/20 log. 1640 WTNI still shown as ESPN in 2019/20
NRC Log and now amended. Best wishes & 73s (Barry :-) Carlisle UK.

1000, Aug 27 at 0550, KTOK OKC is still on but audio breaks up; by
0616 dead air.

Other OKC AM signals seem nominal at 0550+, 930, 800 and 640.

Then I check FM from 0554 Aug 27:
88.3, K202BY Enid is dead air instead of Family Radio. It doesn`t take
a storm for this one to fail, again & again. Still dead all day
105.5, K288FX North Enid is dead air at 0602 instead of relay KYLV
88.9; resumed by 0500 UT Aug 28, gospel rock and K-Love 88.9 OKC ID

In OKC area, major FMs are still on, EXCEPT
93.3, KJKE Newcastle, not heard at first, but then at 0554 weakly;
QRP? from 100 kW? Or possibly storm interfered with propagation
98.1, WWLS-FM The Village is definitely off at 0555, still off at
1313, and 1600 UT; still off or QRP? at 0500 Aug 28
98.9, KYIS OKC, definitely off at 0555, still off at 1313 but on by
1600
100.5, KATT-FM, definitely off at 0555, still off at 1600; but 1619 on
caradio, OKC area ads, so suspect it`s also QRP
100.5, KTFR, Chelsea OK, 25/25 kW, 92m, is presumably the Spanish I
hear briefly overcoming weakened KATT, Aug 27 at 1615 UT on caradio;
Chelsea is in NE corner of OK on Hwy 66 between Claremore and Vinita
103.5, KVSP Anadarko, 100/100 kW, 600m rimshotter into OKC market, is
dead air at 1613 UT, but rock at 1622.

I had not checked OKC DTV stations during the storm, but bandscan Aug
27 at 1817 and 1930 UT finds RF 15 and 16 missing! I.e. TBN 14 and
Daystar 46, nothing but gospel huxters. Both KOPX and KOCM-DT are back
at next check 0450 UT Aug 28, but KOCM signal is Bad, mostly not
decoding (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 100.9, Aug 27 at 0558 UT I notice that the new K265FL
Enid translator of KGWA 960 is displaying on RDS as KGWA-FM! Is there
no rule against imaginary callsigns on RDS? And still no stereo
pilot, altho I have not checked during the detestable Sean Hannity,
whenever he`s on (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1580, Aug 27 at 0546 UT, emergency sounder and warning from
NWS Tulsa about storms in NW Arkansas, also loops E/W and not // 1020
KOKP; so this must be KHGG Vam Burem AR again, rather than KOKB
Blackwell OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1996 monitoring: turned on UTWente
SDR and tuned in 7290, Monday August 26 at 1814 to hear me already
halfway thru WOR at the YHWH item! But 1815 cut to Aïda theme, 1816.5
re-start WOR 1996. Usual very strong and loud signal, modulation just
below the distortion threshold, from IRRS via ROMANIA, but with some
deep selective fading distortion. This can be considerably reduced by
LSB or USB tuning, or even better, synch.

Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, Aug 26 at 1915 UT on caradio I notice that KLEY, 250
watts in Wellington KS, is back on the air, the first time noticed
since at least May 3. I haven`t checked for it every day but I`m sure
it hasn`t been for more than a week. 1929 ID as ``The Wave 100.3`` as
they have kept the ``translator`` of a silent AM station on the air as
I confirmed that at local range July 10. I`ll bet 1130 is gone again
before long, but it`s still JBA Aug 27 at 1943 UT vs HLNL (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 92.9 WBFM, Aug 26 at 1959 UT, Spanish music, unusual to hear
on this channel; 2002 ID as ``La Mexicana`` on 92.9 and 101.5, with
calls which are: 92.9 KMML Cimarrón KS, 32/32 kW, 186.0 m. 101.5 KSMM
its Liberal KS relay, 100 kW. Cimarrón is between Dodge and Garden
Cities on US 50/400, 274 km = 170 miles from here. I have heard KSMM
before when it was substituting for another Spanish absent, KOCD
Okeene OK nearby --- not still silent as still shown in WTFDA DB.
There is still a bit of tropo boost in the afternoon (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Aug 26 at 1500 UT, Hepburn map predicted level 4 high tropo
enhancement around here, more than maps have shown in a long time, but
very little DTV DX to be seen; just Bad signals on RF 20 and 34,

recall hearing CHR mention Thule before, but must show occasionally in

Confirmed UT Monday August 26 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S9+10 in HLNL

with a much stronger signal. I had not heard this for over a year;
possible only during the limited UT Sun & Mon activity of WWRB, and
not in the B-seasons when on 90m instead. Then it would be worth
checking for 2 x 3185, 3195 or 3215, whichever in use, on 6370, 6390

** U S A. 760, Aug 26 at 0150 UT, WJR is nulled as I am trying to ID
the Spanish LAH on the minus side, but more signal is coming from
something in English with ``Place for Mom`` national ad but then Glen
Beck plugging his show ``tomorrow at 7 am on Freedom 93-7, Real News,
Real Talk``. That`s now the branding of KDSP Thornton CO = Denver
market, U4 50/1 kW, obviously a flip from NBC Sports as of a year ago.
0159 UT ad with 303 areacode, 0200 Fox ``news`` sounder. I wonder if
KDSP employ digital signal processing?? Rather the call was likely
denoting ``Denver SPorts``. Now, FCC AM Query shows it`s KDFD as in
``Denver FreeDom``, since 6/25/2019. Official LSS in Aug is 0200 UT;
September 0115 UT.

As for 93.7, it`s a mere 99-watt translator in Lakewood, K229BS
[apropos call!], wagging the 760 dog; WTFDA DB still shows it
originating with ``KDSP`` 760 but does have the new slogan ``Freedom
93.7`` [sic, with a point] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 760-, Aug 26 at 0143 UT, WJR Detroit in Michigan
talkshow suffers from a low audible het on the minus side. I pull some
Mexmx by nulling WJR, i.e. NW/SE, but it`s hard to tell where this QRM
peak, as there is more QRM from Colorado really from the NW [see USA
log]. At 0156 an SHVA in Spanish but can`t copy any ID. In the NRC AM
Log 2018, the only USSSes on 760 are two Floridians, both on at night
but with wrong formats: WLCC Brandon 1 kW religious, and WEFL Tequesta
1 sesquikW ESPND; even less likely two Radios Progreso in Cuba.

Could it be Mexican? The most clockwise is on the AZ border, XENY
Nogales, Sonora. Was slightly off-minus, 29 months ago per mwoffsets:
``759.9898 MEX XENY-AM Radio Xeny (Nogales) 2017-03-25``
i.e. -10.2 Hz which unseems quite enough for the LAH I hear. While WJR
itself was only 0.2 Hz high as of a dekamonth ago. IRCA Mexican Log
last year shows XENY 5000/100 watts with music formats, but no mention
of offfrequenciness. Perhaps someone closer can confirm its exact
frequency (and existence) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
