PTSW changes

Daniel Sampson <dsampson@...>

Ernest Riley has agreed to take over the production of the Prime Time
Shortwave database and related files for B-07. I thank him very much
for
doing this.

This will allow me to put more time into the PTSW email list. With
the
change and expected more timely information I will be moving the
existing
newsletter (email list) to Yahoo! Groups. Topica has been very
unreliable
the past two years when it comes to the emails getting out on a
timely basis
or at all so the change has become necessary. I would recommend
subscribing
to the new list as the one at Topica will remain for only a short
period of
time. Send a subscription email to
primetimeshortwave-subscribe@... A change to be made is
that
members will be able to post directly to the list but I will moderate
them
so only appropriate items make it to the list. The new email to post
items
is primetimeshortwave@...

R. Six Int'l, Scotland. Effective 11 August, Scotland's only
independent
international broadcaster, radio six international, returns to
shortwave
with a resumption of its Saturday morning broadcast on 9290 kHz
beamed to
Europe, the Far east and Pacific regions.

The programme - transmitted every Saturday between 0700 and 0800 UTC -
will
be relayed from the 100 kW facility at Ulbroka, Latvia as well as
from the
2.7 kW mediumwave transmitter on 945 kHz in Riga, Latvia.

The station has recently expressed reservations about the
effectiveness of
shortwave transmissions, and is available 24 hours a day on the
internet at
www.radiosix.com as well as via satellite and FM in various parts of
the
world at certain times of day.

The shortwave and mediumwave transmissions will continue until the
end of
September, when the situation will be reviewed.

ILG radio freq.

Philip van de Paverd <paverdp@...>

Hi all
Since ILG radio frequencies has been deleted from the website, does anyone know of a similar service to take their place?
Or perhaps is there any chance of them coming back again?
I found this a terrific website.

Regards
Philip

Re: ILG radio freq.

Joseph M. Analssandrini

Dear Philip,

I'm certain that the ILG radio frequency database is "done," at least
for hobbyists. I liked it because it could be incorporated into the
RxWINGS radio computer control program with which I operate my AOR
AR7030 Plus receiver. There is a means within that program of
converting the ILG database to a database readable and usable by
RxWINGS so that one can "sort" frequencies using almost any desired
configuration, such as station currently on air, language desired,
transmissions beamed to your country, etc., etc., etc. and then by
merely "clicking" on the station desired, if it is audible in your
area, why, there it is!

This was really great. I wrote to Jan Arkesteijn, the author of the
program, and asked him if there were some way to incorporate
PrimeTimeShortwave's database within the RxWINGS program but,
unfortunately, it appears that he has little interest in effecting
this update, at least at the present time. I have always liked
PrimeTimeShortwave's database much better than ILG's because it is
updated and corrected far more frequently.

I just wish "someone" would be able to design a database such that it
could be incorporated within RxWINGS as was the ILG database.

Best,

Joe

Thanks Ian
No, it is not the same, but it certainly is a very useful website.
ILG Radio had a complete listing of ALL the frequencies that were in use, more than 15000. I used the Excel version.
Tomorrow I will send you last year's copy (outdated now) to look at.

Phil

There's also the NDXC list, a.k.a. the Aoki list, but I sure wish it was in HFCC format.

Have you tried SWLog? <<<
Great program, Huge download, the last time I checked. Since the demise of ILG I've been existing on HFCC.

Hi Dave: I'd love to try using SWLog, but I'm unable to get it installed. In my numerous attempts, I step from one "not found" dll or some other file type to the next. Sort of an exercise in frustration. I'm starting to think that Bob Sillett took revenge on us because of the uncalled for comments that he was bombarded with from some tactless, ungrateful users. Sooner or later, I will succeed. Good listening: theboyd
