Note the greater variety of times for evening English to NAm, which
we
thought would be advantageous in different timezones. In our
mornings,
1530 is later than we preferred, but it needs to be no earlier than
that in order for a new day`s programming to be ready, rather than
repeating the previous day`s as has been the case so far (Glenn

Glenn:
Thanks for the info and suggestion and yes,WOR 1376 will be saved to cd as per your suggestion as it contains useful information.I certainly hope as in the case of Bob Barker, you don't plan to retire yet! I'll look up the info from the link and 73's.Noble

Re: [ptsw] Radio Japan schedule change?

Glenn Hauser

Wrong. The 11705 transmission in English is at 1400-1429 UT (which is 2300
JST). To answer the original question, yes, NHK`s cuts are a lot like BBC`s of
a few years ago. At least NHK has not yet cut off English to North America on
SW.

Since a lot of ptsw info comes from or via DX Listening Digest anyway, may I
suggest that you read it there first? This should make it less necessary to ask
questions which have already been answered.

Re: Antennas or New Radio?

Kelly <Skofnung@...>

Sorry Noble,

That was actually the first time I had posted, even though I have been recieving group E-Mail since it switched to yahoo and before. I just haven't had time to read them all to keep up with the regular member posts. I will try to do better. Anyway, back to the subject.

I have a big V outside with coax running inside the house with a variable attenuator in line. I have noticed I can turn the signal all the way down and still get a little signal to the radio. The thing is that coax has a lot of shielding that is designed to filter out outside signals and keep the signal inside stay there.
The signal I was getting must have come from the little end on the coax.

Now using the shielding of the coax for an antenna is another matter...

Re: [ptsw] Radio Japan schedule change?

Denny Dollahon <ddollahon@...>

I saw the schedule change on the Radio Japam web site today. The
broadcast I used to listen to was 1 hour to North and Latin America.
They no longer have any English service to Latin America. Does this
also signal the start of bigger cut backs in service like the BBC did
in 2006? Denny Dollahon.

This is Noble not"Kevin".Thanks for the information.Would you know if putting a leadin to the arial will work? I tried it but signals were weaker.I know the RS antenna is fine for portables, but one could get better reception with a steel based antenna.I had a CB radio that worked better with an outdoor rod whip,so,the antenna i use on SW is a typical 100 foot Coax(75 ohms) coaxial television cable. It has worked for many years since moving to my current QTH in 1993.Good Luck with your project and 73's!
