** CHINA. 12190, July 19 at 1225, strong S9-S7 CNR1 jammer with YL
narration over music, which leads me to a quick bandscan to 1230
between 10.9 and 15 MHz: widely variant signal levels, the ? ones
being JBA carriers: 11825 with mixture; 11785, 11540, 11460, 11440,
11120, 11100, 10960? 12880?, 12950, 13020?, 13070? (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** U S A. Follow-up to my previous report about Oklahoma`s 1320, KCLI
Clinton, mentioning that 950 KFSA Fort Smith AR was off air following
flooding:

``Formerly silent stations informing the FCC that they are back on the
air: 950 KFSA AR Fort Smith – Silent May 26; on the air June 13.
(AM Switch, NRC DX News July 23, published July 16, via DXLD)``

Never hear KFSA here anyway, direxional awayward; 950 dominated by
KJRG Newton KS when it can slide by local 960 KGWA (Glenn Hauser, Enid

** U S A. 15810-, July 18 at 1801 (following up previous report),
WTWW-3 is still on but now with double audio! Gospel huxter talking,
maybe not PPPP, and hymn with lyrix at equal level, so not intended as
background, still at 1826. Carrier is wobbling slightly, which is
typical, or I might suspect they are axually running two transmitters
at once on same frequency.

15810+, July 19 at 1544, JBA carrier but this one slightly on the plus
side, and much2 weaker than 15825 WWCR at S9+10/15, so probably
something else, maybe local device, unless maybe WTWW be on exciter
only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 730, July 19 at 0558 UT, dominant signal is sports talk in
English, string of ESPN promos, including one for ``ESPN
Charlotte``, and at 0600 UT, ``The Game, Charlotte, 730 AM and 97.5
FM``. No call copied but listed as WZGV, CoL Cramerton NC, U1
10000/165/psra 206 and also W248CO, on 97.5. Cramerton is a west=side
suburb on the way to Gastonia. So it`s dominant with only 165 watts?
Right ---

730 is an intriguing DX frequency, with a couple dozen USA stations
but none legally running more than 1000 watts at night, many less than
100 or even less than 10! In fact the only 1 kW is KQPN West Memphis
AR.

Because 730 was a Canadian/Mexican ``clear``. Canada has two 50/50 kW
stations in Montreal and Vancouver, and in between 10/5 kW in
Manitoba. As for XEX Mexico City, it used to be dominant with 100/100
kW, but suspect it has been downgraded. No sign of it now, at least on
my E/W longwire toward NC. Annoying splash from 740 KRMG Tulsa

Also just before ToH, heard mention of an area code 412 phone number,
which is Pittsburgh PA --- unless on a network feed, that could
correspond to 730 WPIT, U1 5000/24/psra 225 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** U S A. KGOU has more about the changes at StarDate:

``Sandy Wood Retires, Billy Henry Becomes Voice of StarDate

Sandy Wood, the popular and charismatic announcer of the StarDate
radio program, is retiring after 28 years on the air. Her final
episode will air July 16.

Listen 0:35 Sandy Wood: "Keep looking up."
https://cpa.ds.npr.org/kgou/audio/2019/07/Stardate_SandyFarewell_0.mp3

StarDate is the longest running nationally syndicated science program
on American radio. Produced by The University of Texas at Austin’s
McDonald Observatory, the program began in 1978. It brings a daily
two-minute message of astronomy and skywatching to 2.3 million weekly
listeners via more than 300 stations across the country. Wood took
over from original announcer Joel Block after the program’s first
dozen years.

“Since 1991 I’ve been with you every day, telling you about the
wonders of the universe,” she says at the end of the July 16 episode.
“Recent health problems, though, have left me unable to continue, so
this is my final episode. My thanks for all of the support from our
StarDate audience — the best in the universe!”

StarDate producer Damond Benningfield has worked with Wood since her
original audition. “This really breaks my heart,” Benningfield says.
“Not only is she an amazing announcer, she’s one of the kindest and
most thoughtful people I’ve ever known. She’s also a hoot, so our
recording sessions are probably going to be a lot duller without
her.”

Wood’s first broadcast aired September 16, 1991, and she recorded a
total of 10,166 episodes. She also recorded several podcasts for
McDonald Observatory projects, and she narrated videos that play at
the observatory’s Frank N. Bash Visitors Center and other venues at
the Fort Davis campus, as well as on various web sites.

“I very much appreciate Sandy Wood’s dedicated service to McDonald
Observatory. Her enthusiastic and consistent delivery of astronomy
news for StarDate has built a large and committed audience of
astronomy enthusiasts,” said McDonald Director Taft Armandroff. “As I
travel the country and speak with fans of astronomy and The University
of Texas, there are always questions and good wishes for Sandy Wood
and StarDate.”

Wood has been a broadcaster since the 1960s, serving as a radio DJ and
talk-show host, and voicing programs and commercials for local,
regional, and national clients, including NASA.

Billy Henry [portrait]

Voice talent Billy Henry will be taking over for Sandy Wood beginning
July 17, 2019. Billy is no stranger to public radio, serving as the
voice for Brain Stories and going on to record hundreds of voiceovers
for TV, radio and film including Texas Tourism, Schlotzky’s, Southwest
Airlines, NASCAR, Guitar Center, Dell, AMD, Velocity Credit Union, the
IMAX film, Texas: The Big Picture, and many more.

Henry is involved in many creative fields. In addition to doing voice
work, he is a composer, musician, teacher, sound designer, and “maker
of things,” including musical instruments.

He has written hundreds of pieces of music for clients , movie scores,
and music for theater and dance productions and toured the world with
The Court Yard Hounds and the Dixie Chicks. He teaches at Texas State
University in San Marcos and has taught at UT-Austin as well.

“While I might not be able to stick it out for 28 years like Sandy
did, I’m looking forward to telling you about the universe for a long
time to come,” says Henry in an audio introduction recorded for
StarDate’s many affiliate radio stations.

Billy Henry’s warm voice and conversational delivery style will
continue the StarDate tone established by Sandy Wood during her tenure
with the program`` (via KGOU Newsletter July 18 via DXLD)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1670, July 19 at 0621 UT, very poor signal mentions
``1530 AM``. Usual 1670 here of the only four Unitedstatesians is WOZN
Madison WI. I can`t find any group relation to a 1530 station, nor for
the other three 1670s, one of which is Spanish anyway (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 2750, July 19 at 1216 UT, weak carrier fading; not even
2850 North Korea is audible. Not a spot for local mixtures. If a MW
harmonic, it could only be 5 x 550, where KFRM KS dominates daytimes
here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, July 18 at 0604, JBA carrier, surely from R.
Kiribati. Too late for anything from Eurafrica in the summer, but not
too early for propagation from Xmas Island. Last trace of 846 heard
here (along with several others) was April 29 at 1121-1128.

At 0607, I also have a JBA carrier noticeably off-frequency minus from
774-, but not sure what that could be. Surely not Iran or Indonesia as
in
http://mwlist.org/mwoffset.php?khz=774
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 15575, July 18 at 1357, KBS World Radio, S7-S9 W&M
English hosts chatting, almost readable, and concluding the hour, 1359
a bit of (what else?) K-pop, 1400 theme and opening in Korean. Best
heard yet, allegedly now pumping 250 kW our way over a path barely
viable at midsummer.

Meanwhile, VOK from the North is better as usual on 25m, 11710 S7-S9
but louder, //? weaker 11735 also finishing English hour with typical
triumphant music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K. The BBC Proms season 2019 is about to start with the First
Night on July 19; until Last Night 14 September; on BBC Radio 3
webcasts. All the details here:

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1990 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday July 17
on WRMI 9955, but not until late cut-on, JIP at 2100:50, S5-S7. Such
are the risks of being the very first program on any transmission. At
least most of it, if 9955 stayed on.

Simulcast on WBCQ 7490.1v? Wed July 17 at 2100, JBA carrier, as usual
in deep summer, almost all the signal absorbed on the way. Checked
webcast at 2120 and heard: Equal mixture of me and Brother Scare!
Notified the boardops ASAP, but by 2128 recheck of webcast, now it`s
not funxioning at all. Unknown if same mixture was also outgoing on
7490. Did anyone hear it?

Not confirmed UT Thursday July 18 at 0100, NO signal on 7780 WRMI;
while 7730 & 7570 are nominal with BS, always much stronger than 7780
even when it`s on. Still AWOL at 0128. Strange that with 14
transmitters, WRMI is often missing rather than substituting another
if there`s a problem with one of them. Thus there was something wrong
with the last three scheduled North American broadcasts of 1990, so I
hope most have already heard it anyway. If not:

** U S A. 5130.4, UT Thu July 18 at 0150, this weak WBCQ is on with
talkshow, seems Hal Turner same as much stronger 7490.2, and not synch
on 9455 WRMI. 9330v is still silent. HT live (not recommended) is UT
Thu 0000-0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, July 18 at 0546, S9+10/20 of dead air, i.e. WWCR again
for no apparent reason. The other three are nominal: 5935 S9/+10 of
PMS; 4840 S9+20/30 modulating algo; 3215, S9+10/20 of BS (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15809.963V, July 18 at 1352, S7-S8 of music, obviously
WTWW-3 in a rare appearance on this or any frequency, wobbling
slightly. Last dates I logged it were May 18 and 19 on 15809.918.

Still there at 1429 today while NO other WTWWs are on: 12105, 9930,
9475, 5830 or 5085. Still at 1648 with ``Amazing Grace``. 9475 is
still off. Ivo Ivanov was hearing 15810 as early as 1200 today, and
Wolfgang Bueschel measured it at 1240 on 15809.971 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, July 18 at 0559 UT, WJNL Kingsley MI 50 kW daytimer
continues cheating all night, wrapping up talkshow
something-Reality-Radio --- is it Beyond? Not on their station list
http://beyondrealityradio.com/stations-list/
but time fits as Mon-Thu 12-2 am ET [04-06 UT]. I`m sure this is WJNL
yet again, altho at ID time, KGYN is atop. Now the SAH is 156/minute =
2.6 Hz.

Or is it Public Reality Radio? Originating with WPRR 1680 Ada (Grand
Rapids)?
http://www.publicrealityradio.org/
Nothing there about being on the WJNL group too, but I see some
erstwhile left-wing hosts are to be heard: Stephanie Miller, Thom
Hartmann! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 13550, July 17 at 1357, Chinese talk and music at S6-S8, no
doubt a CNR1 jammer, to timesignal and off 1400*. I started too late
today for a full bandscan, as many more also close at 1400. Strangely,
13550 is not among the 146 *jammed SOH listings in Aoki/NDXC. But EiBi
has both of them possible until 1430, with SOH on 13550.1. Wolfgang
Bueschel`s exhaustive bandscan as of July 5-12 includes SOH (only):
``13550.053 S=3 0504 UT 2130-1430 SOH Xi Wang Zhi Sheng Chi 1-7``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13739.241, July 17 at 1400, RHC self-knocked way off
frequency again, // 13700.0 which is somewhat weaker and both still on
the air. One of them is usually off by now. EiBi shows 13700 is Bauta,
13740 Bejucal, both until 1400. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non?]. 1600, July 17 at 1321, KUSH Cushing local
talkshow with ripple --- either CCI from an unstable transmitter or
its own? Vietnamese from KRVA The Metroplex seems in background and
would be the obvious spoiler, via high-end residual skywave almost a
bihour after LSR; but never noticed any such problem from them before;
recheck at 1354, now KUSH is clear. Other close 1600s are in AR, MO,
KS and NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17530, July 16 at 1404, S9 open carrier, off and back on
again; obviously VOA Grimesland in routine early check long before
scheduled only English broadcast at 1700-1830; BTW, if they did this
before 1400 anyday, would conflict with VOA Somali via Vatican; or
after 1400 Sat/Sun VOA Kinyarwanda via São Tomé, per HFCC (Glenn

** U S A. 9330.00, July 16 at 0109, WBCQ-6 with WLC Radio is OFF ---
and not heard since as of 1605 UT July 17. Artie Bigley forwards twit
from Allan Weiner July 16: ``Worlds superstation off line TFN while we
tune up to higher frequencies and make improvements to the great
antenna.``. Nor have we noticed any reversions to Brother Scare on the
old 9330.1v transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, July 16 at 1404, KVOH already S9+10, opening Spanish,
probably with sporadic-E boost (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825, July 16 at 1404, WWCR S9+20 thanks to sporadic E
boost, so much so that it audiblizes a squeal on the #1 transmitter
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, July 17 at 0559 UT, WJNL Kingsley MI among
multi-station ID of the group, so fast I have never been able to copy
details, and 0600 ``news now``; top among CCI with more than one SAH,
but primarily timed at 152/minute = 2.53 Hz. The 50 kW daytimer
continues cheating all night. Now another report of this at the very
same time July 17 from Steve Zimmerman, Milwaukee WI, to the WOR io
group:

``Hi All, Per Glenn Hauser's tip, I am hearing WJNL with city-grade
sigs on peaks, but some deep fades as well. Tune-in at 0550 with a
blizzard of commercials, followed by a show engaging conspiracy
theories, then multiple IDs for MI stations on AM and FM. ToH news at
0600.

In spite of the fact that they run 50 kW ND, they are very difficult
to hear here on daytime groundwave, even though the path is mostly
over Lake Michigan. Ground conductivity in that part of MI is poor at
best, so maybe that has something to do with it. Rx: ICF-5900W and
built-in antenna. 73, Steve Zimmerman, Milwaukee, WI`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 88.1 WBFM, July 16 at 1342 UT, `Stardate` via KWOU Woodward
concludes with Sandy Wood saying this is her last show! She is
retiring due to health problems. We`ll miss her very much; these
2-minute capsules she always filled with a sense of wonder, whether
elementary astronomy or something intriguingly deeper. She must be
older than she sounds with her lovely voice.

I`ve always felt the Stardate website did not give enough credit to
Sandy; in fact searching on site, this is about all we can find:
https://stardate.org/astro-guide/gallery/celebrating-sandiys

``Celebrating the Sandi/ys Featured on July 4, 2016

Two key players in the StarDate and McDonald Observatory public
outreach programs are celebrating milestones in July. Sandy Wood
(left) is commemorating her 25th anniversary as the voice of StarDate
radio. Her first recording session was on July 23, 1991. And Sandi
Preston is retiring from McDonald Observatory on July 4. She is the
Observatory's assistant director for education and outreach, and
executive producer of StarDate radio.``

We heard her successor July 17 at 1458 on KUCO:

``The New Voice of StarDate
https://stardate.org/content/new-voice-stardate

Billy Henry in the studio while recording his first StarDate episodes.
Billy Henry, a voice talent, musician, composer, and college lecturer
in Austin, will become the third narrator of the StarDate radio
program in its 41-year history. He assumes the title from Sandy Wood,
who retired from the program effective July 16. Henry’s first program
will air the following day.

“I feel extremely privileged to be a part of the StarDate team,” says
Henry. “I’ve been listening for years and now I get to be the voice.
What a great experience.”

“I’ve had the privilege to work with the first two StarDate
announcers, Joel Block and Sandy Wood, and I know that Billy will
maintain the high standards these great talents have established for
the show,” says StarDate producer Damond Benningfield. “Billy and I
have worked together before, so I knew he would be a really good fit
for our style and content. I’m looking forward to many years of
working together.”

Henry is involved in many creative fields. He is a lecturer at Texas
State University in San Marcos, teaching classes in writing music for
TV and film, mixing for TV and film, and an introduction to desktop
production. He has also taught at The University of Texas at Austin,
and done sound design and other creative projects for the theater
department.

Henry has written or mixed hundreds of pieces of music for commercial
clients ranging from Chili’s to AT&T to Southwest Airlines. In 1999,
he wrote the score for the film “American Detective,” and in recent
years he has joined the world tours of The Court Yard Hounds, Shakira,
and the Dixie Chicks.

Henry also describes himself as a “maker of things,” including musical
instruments. He also has a pilot’s license and is working toward his
commercial rating.
Greetings from Billy Henry [41-second clip]``

Around here we get Stardate M-F only at 1342 UT on KGOU and relays; if
we miss that as KWOU 88.1 relay propagation from Woodward is sporadic,
via KUCO 90.1 at 1458 UT; and if we miss that, repeated on KUCO at
2358 UT. I gather there are also editions on Sat & Sun not scheduled
by our stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

opening Spanish. In a surprise move, VR relay via IBB Grimesland NC
has re-expanded back to 30 minutes, after many months curtailed to
only 15 starting at 0145 (but carrier usually on at least 10 minutes

DAY-BY-DAY ARCHIVE OF GLENN HAUSER`S LOG REPORTS:
Unedited, uncondensed, unchanged from original version, many of
them too complex, minutely researched, multi-frequency, opinionated,
inconsequential, off-topic, or lengthy for some log editors to
manage; and also ahead of their availability in these weekly issues:

Glenn Hauser logs July 14-15, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CUBA. 11950, July 15 at 2201, RHC on early, undermodulated S9+10,
seems like live speech by some Commie, apparently a `Mesa Redonda`
special event an hour earlier than usual, since not // 11760 et al.,
and 6000 JBA also seems same as 11950. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 7379.241, July 15 at 2222, RHC French auto-knocked way off
frequency from 7380, S9+10; as happens sporadically here or below
15370 or 13740, presumably same transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7254.94, July 15 at 0551, VON with a ballad in English,
``I`m not afraid ---`` something, segment repeating at 0554, 0556
after pauses; 0557.5 cut to usual drumming and flutish IS, S9+20/30
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1230, July 15 at 0038 UT, Oh2, WBBZ Ponca City must
be off again, no strong signal this long before sunset; or is that its
carrier now with growing graveyard skywave? Yes, it is! Legal ID at
ToH 0100 then back to dead air.

Meanwhile I have been walking around the block with the PL-880 on this
frequency trying to track source of high line noise level. It`s
slightly CCW from N/S with a sharp null (which should be occupied by
WBBZ), and little change from different sides, signifying it`s
radiating from some distance away.

1230, WBBZ is back in business, S9+20 by 2225 check July 15 with rock
music, ``Sunny 1230`` slogan. At least not ``Sunny 104.7`` this time
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1990 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
July 14 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, JBA vs noise level

Also confirmed UT Monday July 15 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S9+10 vs noise,
and much better VG S9+20 on synchronized 9395

Also confirmed UT Monday July 15 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, poor vs noise

Also confirmed UT Monday July 15 at 0300 on Area 51 webcast, and at
0326 check modulating on WBCQ 5130.37 poor S9+10 vs noise level

Also confirmed UT Monday July 15 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, VG S9+10/20
with lite pulse jamming audible. Czech? song fill right up to WOR.

** U S A. 7570, July 15 at 0019, WRMI-11 is off again, despite
schedule as 23-04 UT; no loss with nothing but BS. Still going on
7730, 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs July 13-14, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CHINA. 11540, July 14 at 1318, CNR1 jammer, as almost always. Vs
RFA Tibetan via Kuwait

12190, July 14 at 1319, CNR1 jammer at S5-S9. Vs Sound of Hope

12820, July 14 at 1320, CNR1 jammer at S5-S9. Vs Sound of Hope

13640, July 14 at 1321, CNR1 jammer at S4-S8. Vs Sound of Hope

14640, July 14 at 1342, JBA music, probably CNR1 jammer vs SOH

14900, July 14 at 1343, JBA music, Chinese talk, CNR1 jammer vs SOH
relaying RFA; all per Aoki/NDXC.

11785, July 14 at 1323, CNR1 jammer, but mixed with Firedragon, as I
was using this one to check // with the others. Vs VOA Chinese via
Philippines (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15120, July 14 at 0052, CRI Spanish relay is S9+10, much
stronger than // 5990, but 15120 is JBM, at least not crackling today.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, 9535, 9570, 9640, 15230, July 14 at 1315, all these
RHC/CRI frequencies are missing; while RHC is still running on 11760,
13700, 13740, 15140. Something`s always wrong at RHC/RadioCuba ---
maybe correlates with one of the transmitter sites offline. Quite a
different selexion from 24 hours earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 17560, July 14 at 1345, `Auld Lang Syne` and
announcement in French, i.e. CRI via Kashgar where Uighurs are being
brainwashed. Strongest signal on band amid very few others (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, July 14 at 0035, pirate music, torchsong,
S9+20 but about = the high local noise level; in sporadic chex, no ID
caught, still 0100+. These say Wolverine Radio, keyword ``nothing``
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,55968.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6879-USB, July 14 at 0037, piratemusic on odd
frequency, slightly weaker S9 than 6950, and thus even worse vs noise
level. These reports say Mix Radio International, earlier on 6876,
6877, 6878:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,55969.0.html

At 0057 I find it has shifted to 6881-USB, but stops without
announcement at 0100:25*; more reports including when on 6881:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,55966.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 88.3, WBFM, July 13 at 1902 UT, K202BY, Enid Family Radio
satellator which has been open carrier for months (altho it got an STA
to be ``off the air``), is now really totally off the air; in fact
first noticed a couple days ago. Thus opens up a good Es FM DX
channel, if the MUF will ever get up there! There are weak marginal
signals from KOSR Stillwater, the local low-power fill-in when major
KOSU 91.7 moved much closer to OKC; and some gospel huxter which I am
concentrating on IDing. It fades way up and down but tropospherically
over unstable hot path, rather than ionospherically. Bible reading is
in progress, finally outro 1910 as Psalms 81-87, to be resumed
tomorrow at 88 (only 10 minutes a day??), on ``Bible Broadcasting
Network``, and into hymnstring. That clinches it as the station I
suspected, next nearest from Wichita KS, KYFW, 17/17 kW, only 43m
height, and with BBN as in WTFDA database.

89.1, Oasis Enid translator is still blocking a much more desirable
Wichitan, KMUW public radio. 92.1, KAMG-LP Enid is still on with dead
air after one day of modulation in May to prove it wasn`t totally
dead. 88.3 free of K202BY also facilitates using 88.3 as RF feeder
frequency for SW radio in the car or even home (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 407 kHz, July 14 at 0545, ND beacon HRU, which is 25 watts
from Herington KS. Noise level has lowered enough to get a bit;
nearest lightning areas are in NM and off the LA coast. Also have
Okies 255, SW, 25 watts Stillwater, tuned to 253; and even 341, EI, 25
watts Enid. Once I can hear again any Y-beacon from Canada, I`ll know
we`re back in season (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1990 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
July 13 at 2100 on WRMI, 9955, fair S6-S8.

Also confirmed UT Sunday July 14 at 0130 on WRMI, 5850, good. As
sunset earlies, expect this one gradually to improve westward.

Also confirmed UT Sunday July 14 at 0342 midpoint via WA0RCR, 1860-AM,
MO, S9 to +10 vs high local noise level of S9; so started circa 0328,
must have been right after I first checked, hearing another.

None of the three Hamburger LokalRXadio airings confirmed yet. Next:

** U S A. 9330.00, July 14 at 0343 tune-in, WBCQ-6 in S9+20/30 dead
air, then hits WLC IS loop but brief cutoff at 0344:42. Must be having
problems rather than apocalypting at this hourpart. By 0600 recheck
only a JBA carrier, propagation dropout? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, UT Sun July 14 at 0041, WRMI-10 playing ME music, from
the World Music stash? Not what one would expect during ``Buscando la
Verdad`` scheduled now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5970, July 14 at 0555, WEWN with S9 of Spanish dead air
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, July 14 at 0459 UT, quick check immediately finds
mention of Traverse City, as WJNL 50 kW daytimer continues cheating
since at least June 24. QRM from more than one station KGYN, maybe
WPHT and/or KUBR; predominant SAH count now is 138/minute = 2.3 Hz
rather than 3+ Hz with KGYN (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1857 UT July 14

Glenn Hauser logs July 12-13, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CUBA. 11980, July 13 at 0019, Chinese song at S1, same as on
stronger 5990 CRI relay of which 11980 is second harmonic. Same as
also on CRI Spanish 15120 fundamental, but this transmitter has
crackling audio altho at 0021 the carrier is steady and not breaking
up. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13740, July 13 at 0023, RHC Spanish is on again via
sporadic/unscheduled frequency, VG S9+40. Something`s always wrong? at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9570, July 13 at 1305, CRI relay is S9+20 but
overmodulated/distorted, introducing `China Theatre`. Something`s
always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, July 13 at 1326, RHC is S3-S5 but just barely
modulated, matching the situation on fundamental 6000 which is S8-S9.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, July 13 at 1322, RHC is absent, but audible on 15230
at only VP S2-S3. 13700 & 13740 are also both off at 1357, 11760 off
at 1358; but 9640 and 9535 are still on. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9654-9663 approx., July 13 at 0015, extremely distorted weak
spur talk, peaking circa 9660, immediately suspected to be coming from
9690 Spain --- and so it is, by matching modulation peaks and pauses
on another receiver. 9690 itself sounds fine. I then look for more of
these and find them, not quite as strong as 9660: 9715-9719-9727,
9745-9752-9755, i.e. approx. 30-kHz intervals --- but not on the minus
side circa 9630 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 8764-USB, July 13 at 0534, Tropical Storm Barry info with
G.C., by robot who has trouble pronouncing ``quadrant``. Also confused
about calendar asserting ``Saturday July 14`` and ``Sunday July 15``
which are one day off for this year but correct for 2018y! Let`s hope
their life-and-death weather info be more accurate. Per EiBi this must
be USCG Chesapeake VA, NMN, scheduled 0515-0550 alternating with
Honolulu and Port Reyes; again audible at 1536 during the 1530-1605
NMN span. Other NMN frequencies are 4426, 6501, 13089, maybe 17314,
some probably day-only or night-only. Time to tune in WWL 870 with
real humans (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1990 monitoring: missed checking
the first USA SWBC, Friday July 12 at 2200 on WRMI 9955; did anyone
hear it?

Confirmed UT Saturday July 13 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, poor in local high
noise level.

Also confirmed Saturday July 13 at 1130 on WRMI 9955, good S9,
immediately following ``Sandunga`` on marimba music fill, no ID break
and no upcut.

Not confirmed Sat July 13 at 1430-1500 on HLR 9485-CUSB via UTwente
--- as usual for weeks now, not even a trace of signal, just huge
splash from 9490 Romania. Haven`t heard from Alan Gale either who
would sometimes hear it in UK when UTwente could not. Next:

** U S A. 15180, July 12 at 1920, still no signal from WBCQ-6 500 kW,
the new frequency erroneously registered at 07-10 UT, really meaning
19-22 UT (more below).

9330 is also off at 1936 check. But on in Arabic at 2037, VP S6-S7, so
presumably started at 2000. Off at 2358 retune, but that`s the
antenna-rotation break; *2359:20 amid IS loop, now inbooming and
reopening WLC Radio in English.

7490.18, UT Saturday July 13, can barely detect William Tell Overture
opening `AAAWWW`, due to hi local line noise level. The NRD-545 noise
blanker does a fine job of eliminating the buzz but also makes the
remaining program audio virtually unintelligible. Strangely, someone
on the phone is more readable than AW, so I give up. By 0056 or so I`m
listening to the loud & clear webcast, and some comments sound very
familiar --- is it a repeat? No, by 0100 AW mentions the two new
frequencies 15.180 and 11.705 to be used in daytime once they have
been programmed into the antenna/transmitter. It`s still a work in
progress, which must account for all the downtime in the daytime.

Artie Bigley heard from AW that AAAWWW would be carried on 9330 but
not this time. I`d think the contract would have reserved some hours
for WBCQ`s own programming. John Carver heard it all, and reports:

``Tonight's show on 7490 started on time after a few minutes of fill
music. Allan and Angela in the studio. I move to 5130 as the signal is
much better there. Phone call at 0007 from Freddie. Allan says that in
the future AAWWW will also air on 9330 but tonight is on 7490, 5130
and 3265. Allan refuses to say what the electric bill is for the
superstation but says it's in the high five figures every month. Says
it takes 900 kW for the transmitter to put out 500 kW. Allan got
Freddie off the phone in fifteen minutes this evening.

Another phone call at 0023 moves the conversation to TV. Phone call at
0031 continues the TV discussion. Phone call at 0040 brings us back to
radio. Caller doesn't care for the DSP in most of the new radios today
and wonders if there's any way to bypass it. They also discussed HD
radio and FM. The general consensus was that digital should get out of
radio.

It was announced that Angela recorded her first radio commercial today
for their FM station. It was mentioned that construction was ongoing
at the superstation so Angela hasn't been able to plant flowers there.
Some more talk of Angela's gardens. Phone call at 0056 from Pirate Joe
with signal reports. Reading of emails at 0059 and after one email
program was cut off with no closing prayer or comments. Program was
off at 0100 and immediately they went into a rerun of an old AWWW.
John, Mid-North Indiana``

At 1400 July 13 check, 9330 is off again. Apparently no longer
bothering to turn Brother Scare on the old transmitter when the new
one be down; nor have I noticed him at additional hours on 7490+,
continuing at 22-23 weekdays anyway (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 5800, July 13 at 0532, Oldies at S8 and WRMI ID by Bob, //
9395; secret transmission still missing from the WRMI skedgrid. I
often detect a JBA carrier on 5800, but not often definite modulation.
At this hour only one other transmitter of the 14 is scheduled, 5950
with SMTV, so who knows which of the other dozen, and which antenna
are on 5800, not to mention *why*? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11855.749, July 12 at 0533, JBA talk, S1-S2, obviously the
always off-frequency R. Aparecida. Next check at 1206 I remeasure it
at 11855.754 (11780 RNA is also audible now) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 9255, July 12 at 1328, VP talk in Chinese? Aoki/NDXC shows
this as a *jammed Sound of Hope frequency. No others noticed in this
area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 7435, July 12 at 1152, pulse jamming vs weak
Chinese talk, i.e. CRI eastward from Beijing during this hour. Radio
Martí is on 7435 only at 03-05 UT: the incompetent DentroCuban Jamming
Command lets it run anyway, Commies vs Commies! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** CUBA. 13739.243, July 12 at 1258, RHC is only S5-S7 here, and once
again knocked itself way off-frequency, 1301 ID; while // 13700.0 has
just come on much stronger, S9+20. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1319.959, July 12 at 1220 UT, low audible het
caused by KCLI Clinton always off-frequency, beating against something
I really can`t null, probably KLWN Lawrence KS approx. opposite
direxion. With both nulled I get some music, but I am really looking
for KWHN Fort Smith AR which is news/talk, since the July/August MW
News reported from UK:

``NORTH AMERICAN NEWS --- 1320 KWHN Fort Smith, AZ ]sic] –
operating at reduced power (1 kW vs licensed 5 kW) from a longwire
antenna due to flooding, also affecting 950 KFSA which is silent``
Just how much power can a longwire tolerate?

I do not measure KCLI until 1543 UT when there is no confusing QRM.
The MW Offset list shows relatively recent data, but no KWHN:
http://mwlist.org/mwoffset.php?khz=1320

1319.9615 KCLI (Clinton, OK) 2018-01-23
1319.9947 KLWN (Lawrence, KS) 2018-01-23
i.e. 33.2 Hz apart, but KLWN off-frequency-minus itself by 5.3 Hz;
while my measurement of KCLI puts it 41 Hz below exact 1320.000 (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 34, July 12 at 1354 UT, KMYT-TV 41-1 Tulsa is
intermittently decoding, as Hepburn tropo map forecast for 15 UT shows
Enid in a fair/level 2 band, Tulsa in moderate/level 3. A number of
other Bad VHF/UHF signals, such as somewhat decoding on RF 21, KUOT
OKC at 1410; but I stick with this one exploring its subs:
41-1 is MyTV – no surprise
41-2 is GetTv
41-3 is GritTV
41-4 is HNI per PSIP, but H&I per bugs mostly in the LR corner; it
stands for Heroes & Icons, a channel we don`t get from OKC. 1400 UT
starting `High Chaparral`. Pro arte, I snap a number of DTV pixel
breakups on 41-4, such as:

** U S A. 9330.00, July 12 at 0526, WBCQ-6 with WLC Radio is holding
up tonight, still VG S9 to S9+10. Next chex starting at 1200 find NO
signal on 9330, nor at 1542. As I mentioned in previous report,
revised HFCC sked appears to be 12 hours out of whack. So if we don`t
hear 9330 at 19-24 UT, we should instead look for Arabic on 15180 at
19-22 and 11705 at 22-24. That makes a lot more sense propagationally
than starting 15180 at 2 am EST in Maine!

7490+v, July 12 at 1151, no signal from WBCQ (or WWCR yet). No sign
yet of WBCQ putting Brother Scare on this transmitter at ``all unsold
times``, since the other apocalyptix at WLC have pushed him off
9330+v. I wonder if he will be shoehorned into various `open` hour or
half-hour slots during the existing briefer span, instead of AAAWWW
playbax, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 530, July 10 when visiting Wichita, no signals heard there
or around South Haven from the Kansas Turnpike Authority`s TIS
relaying Wichita NOAA Weather Radio. The FCC TIS list does not find it
(or never?) and it`s the very bottom entry in this long roster
http://www.mwlist.org/mwlist_quick_and_easy.php?area=3&kHz=530
since no callsign was known for it. With `K530AM` Vance AFB still
silent, on a quiet day we ought to be able to detect something from
nearby Kansas if any exist (Glenn Hauser, KS, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1190, July 12 at 1215 UT, ``69 degrees at our studios in
Beloit``, i.e. KVSV, U4 2300/90 watts should now be on day power,
immediately overcome by EWTN promos, from further KDMR Kansas City MO,
U2 5000/500. KVSV in north-central Kansas, pattern is circle tangent
direxional to NW, not very good for us to the south, while KDMR is ND

** CUBA. 6100, July 10 at 0602, RHC English is S9+40 and splashing out
to plus/minus 15 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,

** CUBA. 13740, July 11 at 0130, surprised that the BST-1 caradio
memory stops here at RHC Spanish. I think this frequency has been off
air evenings for a long time. It`s not in Aoki or EiBi, Aoki does not
even show the morning broadcast at 11-14. RHC`s own website
http://www.radiohc.cu/interesantes/frecuencias
still shows the B-18 sked! When 13740 was for Buenos Aires at 22-05.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** CUBA. 7365 & 7335, July 11 at 0548, wall of noise jamming and
hardly a trace of Radios Martís; usually RM is way over jamming here,
but auroral conditions must be taking out Grimesland NC way up north
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100, July 11 at 0550, RHC English is S9+30 but
undermodulated, and the carrier is cutting out rapidly and
irregularly. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

6165 is S9 but JBM; 6000 is S9+10 and undermodulated; 5040 is
S9+20/30, good modulation except for some hum, but cuts off early at
0553*. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** CUBA. 15370.0, July 11 at 2222, RHC Spanish is S9 but JBM; at least
it`s not off-frequency today! Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn

** MALI. 13640, July 11 at 2224, undermodulated weak S8-S9 talk,

** OKLAHOMA. 1140, July 10 at 1255 UT, KRMP OKC with W&M talkshow, and
as I bandscan down, hear the same conversation a few seconds later on
1050, presumably KGTO Tulsa. Then they split for some different PSAs
and ads on 1050. Both are sloganned ``Heart & Soul`` apparently some
syndicated service, and so is the other 1050, KXCA Lawton, weaker and
further but which previously I have heard echoing against KGTO. By
1302 UT, 1140 & 1050 are // again but in music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** U S A. 9330.00, July 9 at 2220, WLC Radio via WBCQ-6 toward the end
of its first UT day on air continues in Arabic, rather
strange-sounding compared to what we hear from genuine Arabs –
including mentions of Western names, and, Allah-forbid, never a bit of
Qur`aning! Much weaker signal during Arabic eastward compared to
English westward. Schedule we had from HFCC showed changing to English
at 2300, but there is no transmission break before then and indeed
after the ``IS``, looping slightly over one minute, heavy on the
dramatic cellos (could someone identify where this music came from?),
one more hour in Arabic after AW`s quick legal ID in English.

By 2354 has built up to only S8-S9; off at 2355* for antenna rotation,
back on at *2358:45 now S9+20 with IS; 0000 opening English, after YL
apocalyptic intro as via ``Montichello``, the two British guys
co-hosting with informal-sounding banter; one is Dave Wright, the
other Miles something. They don`t sound like they are looney tunes.
But starting with correct nomenclature advisory for deities, etc. At
0556 recheck, no signal at all, perhaps still on but not propagating.
Super-power cannot overcome uncooperative MUFs!

9330, July 10 at 2353, good but not super signal, off-mike Arabic
speech from echoey venue, distortion fades. 2356:25 change to IS and
WBCQ ID once,, off at 2357*, 2358:30 attempts to cut back on but off
again; finally back to stay at *2400:35, JIP bigsig English already in
progress as UT July 11 starts.

By 0553 recheck, down to a JBA carrier; 1326 rerecheck, no signal
detectable vs noise level of only S2. Others have now reported that it
went off just before 0800 when Arabic should have resumed, and further
reports find it missing from 9330 all day July 11. I check UTwente SDR
at 1818 and all I hear is OTH radar clicking(?). At 1820 on my own,
still no signal. By 2303 has finally come on with Arabic, poor
S9/S9+10. Finally at *2359:30 cuts on English bigsig again.

Meanwhile, HFCC as of July 11 shows quite a different 500 kW schedule
for WBCQ, still Arabic and English only, but times jumbled, and even
some new frequencies as yet unconfirmed; it`s backdated as from 24
May, obviously imaginary:

15180 07-10 Arabic 75 degrees
11705 10-12 Arabic 75 degrees
9330 12-16 English 255 degrees
9330 16-18 English 300 degrees
9330 18-20 English 57 degrees
9330 20-07 Arabic 75 degrees
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1990, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Guess
what: languages are 12 hours displaced from original schedule: bet
someone mixedup am and pm! (gh)

** U S A. 5085, July 10 at 0603, WTWW-2 poor S8-S9 with flutter in
music, so is the Pete Santilli far-right talk show gone again?

Propagation is degraded: 5830 WTWW-1 and 5935 WWCR are JBA carriers at
0604 July 10, also displaying Doppler flutter. 4840 WWCR is slightly
better, merely poor, also with Doppler; while 3215 WWCR remains OK, VG
at S9+10. Lowest band holds up when highers do not.

24 hours later, July 11 at 0553, propagation is still disturbed: Now
5085 is a JBA carrier as well as 5830 and 5935; 4840 is S9+10/20 but
not solid (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12050, July 11 at 1330, WEWN carrier is cutting off the air
quite accurately once per second. So we hear Spanish talk only in bits
when it`s on, but JBA at S7. By 1402 has become OK (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WORLD OF RADIO 1990, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, July 10 at 2258 UT, KLEY Wellington KS is still off
the air as it has been since at least May 3; have checked it maybe
once or twice a week since then. Its 250 watts daytime used to make it
just fine to Enid, despite direxional-north pattern. Now there is no
doubt whatsoever, since I am driving right by KLEY a few miles south
of Wellington, circa 60th street SE, on the east side of US 81. Now
all signage has been removed and no cars or indication of any
habitation. There are still two towers of different heights for its
ex-direxional day pattern; and about half a dozen big ugly dishes on
the south side of the small whitewashed building.

So I tune to 100.3 and there it is! With rock music and late 2302 UT
ID as ``KLEY 1130-AM and K262CQ 100.3 FM, Wellington``; plenty of
local ads, and 2304 UT, ``The Wave, 100.3 and 1130, from the Wheat
Capital of the World``, and some music by Prince. But, but, how can a
silent AM station have an FM translator??? Announcing 1130 does not
make it so, duh. And I`ve already explained how Enid is the Wheat
Capital, not little Wellington.

Perhaps FCC has not been notified? There is nothing at AM Query about
Facility 31895 being silent. At night it might as well be, with 0.001
kW power. Long live KWKH! (Glenn Hauser, KS, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9380+, July 11 at 1321, very poor RTTY; one peak seems
about 9380.9; maybe the same OC mystery previously on minus side of
9380 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100, July 9 at 0606, RHC English with VG modulation, and

and undermodulated, unreadable. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7254.9, July 9 at 0602, VON is back here and big S9+10/20
in Hausa. Wolfgang Bueschel says this rotatable antenna is stuck aimed
toward North America, lucky us.

11769.9, July 9 at 2041, JBA carrier, signature off-frequency of VON,
presumably running until about 2100 (Glenn Hauser, OK,, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 13-2, July 9 at 1616 UT, PBS World via KETA, during
Christiane Amanpour & Co., blasting interruption for EAS test ``as
required``, but before program audio resumes, we hear a minute of a
horribly modulated commercial for Capital One! The system is relaying
some station which is *not* doing the test, or maybe already finished
it (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, I have left a receiver on here most of the day July
8, the target date for World`s Last Chance to take over WBCQ-6, but
nothing heard except occasional traces of Brother Scare on the old
9330.1v transmitter.

Finally #6 cuts on abruptly at *2322 with AW`s quick canned ID, and
into praise? music in Spanish; more music with ID at 2335. Is this WLC
yet? Not quite.

WLC just started at 0000 UT July 9, British accents, not Egyptian.

It should not be necessary to cut the transmitter while the antenna is
being rotated (unlike other antenna switching), but there was a break
at 0355:20 to 0356:55 during their music span.

It`s pretty clearly not multilingual changing every hour as originally
planned and on the WLC website; yet, another group just posted that
schedule as if it were correct.

So far since 0000 it`s all been English, right? I did hear a minute or
two of openings and wonder if they are playing the same English hour
over and over? I have paid very little attention to their nonsense,
but they want to be sure we are prepared, for ``the end is near``!
They also make a big deal of the ``correct`` names for their god and
offspring.

Observer has this which must have been about WLC, but did anyone ever
hear 9330 in Arabic any time in June? Maybe now we will find them
going from English to Arabic at 0800 and all the way to 2300? This
came out of HFCC.

``WBCQ-6 The Planet, Monticello, TEST in June 2019
0300-0700 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 280 deg to WNAm English
0700-0800 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 047 deg to WeEu English
0800-1500 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 060 deg to N/ME Arabic
1500-2300 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 090 deg to NoAf Arabic
2300-0300 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 255 deg to MEXI English``

Also, is 7490 now running 24 hours with BS at ``all unsold time`` as
AW promised? I really meant ``all-night`` except for the WWCR hours. I
would not expect any change there. Anyhow, 7490 WBCQ was not on late
at night with BS or anything, as of 0600, nor during the daytime when
it`s JBA if at all.

Assuming now 9330.00 be always 500 kW as WLC requires, signal weakens
greatly --- super-power cannot overcome propagation! By 0600 July 9, I
can tell it`s still 9300.00 but JBA! At 0625 up a little at S1-S5 to
tell it`s WLC English.

Probably did switch to Arabic at 0800; my next check at 1232 finds it
now in Arabic, S8-S3, nowhere near the signal we used to get during
tests aimed thisaway, so the rotating direxional antenna must be very
effective, i.e. not wasting signal off the back. After 1440 and
various daytime chex, it remains VP here in Arabic; at 2034, rating
only S3-S5, while nearest neighbor SW station 9265 WINB is slightly
better S4-S6, and no comparison to WWCR blasting on 9350 and 9980.
Maybe WBCQ-6 will blast again itself changing back to English thisaway
at 2300?

Meanwhile, Kai Ludwig in the WOR iog has found more interesting
background about World`s Last Chance and its founder:

``It appears that Galal Doss remained in Egypt not so completely
unnoticed as elsewhere:

http://www.orthodox-christian-comment.co.uk/curiosities-seventhdayadventist&egyptchrstians.htm
https://atoday.org/is-the-new-president-of-egypt-an-adventist/

And he not just calls the pope an antichrist, in 2005 he made a really
cute prophecy:
http://www.remnantofgod.org/GalalDoss-FalseProphet.htm

Someone with a bit more time to spend could also check if a first
impression is correct: That Doss could be a bad Antisemite. By the
way, it seems that Doss is a mere three years younger than Stair. Kai
Ludwig`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7570, July 9 at 2043, JBA carrier vs S9 local line noise
level, and no signals on 7730 or 7780. Must be WRMI: yes, websked
revised to show it with APS Radio, 14-23 UT Tuesday and Thursday only!
How odd. Aimed right at us 315 degrees, but useless in summer daytime.
Maybe makes it to Mississippi? 9455 is also on with VP signal and that
too is sked as APS, in this case M-F 2000-2200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830 & 5935, July 9 at 0608, both Nashvillians WTWW and WWCR
are inaudible, so both off the air? How about lower? 4840 WWCR is
still S9+20/30 with BS and so is // 3215. Maybe a very sharp MUF
cutoff around 5 MHz? (Glenn Hauser, OK, D LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 9470, July 9 at 1355, WEWN into ``Salve Regina``
with heavy CCI in Chinese, soon uncovered completely as WEWN is
finished with English until the afternoon. CNR1 jamming/RTI (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, July 9 at 0559 UT, tune in just in time to hear ToH
break, from ``Reality Radio`` to multi-AM/FM station ID including WJNL
and mention of Mackinaw City, as the 50 kW daytimer in Kingsley MI
continues its all-night cheating since first heard here June 24. At
first dominant, must have been during a KGYN fade which soon comes
back up during sportstalk (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9379.577, July 9 at 1235, open carrier fading S4-S2, so
not a local device. Probably the same one Rick Barton, AZ reported as

Glenn Hauser logs July 7-8, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** BRAZIL. 9630.4, July 8 at 0132 and 0537, JBA carriers no doubt R.
Aparecida, active now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, UT Mon July 8 at 0122, RHC mailbag show in English,
suptorted which is getting to be the norm on this frequency; better on
// 6165. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, July 8 at 0531, RHC in Spanish instead of this hour
scheduled English; something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ECUADOR. 6050, UT Mon July 8 at 0124, S5-S7 talk in unknown
language, presumed HCJB rather than Tibet in Mandarin; but per EiBi
this segment is supposed to be in Spanish Sun-Thu, Quechua/Kichwa
Fri/Sat. Could it be those are local days rather than UT days? Better
signal than usual, anyway (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA. 7380, July 8 at 0117, ME music, poor, ACI from 7375 Romania
but 7385 WHRI is not on. HFCC shows it has to be AIR Bengaluru in
Sindhi service 0045-0200, 400 [sic] kW at 300 degrees (Glenn Hauser,
OK,, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH [and non]. 15575, July 8 at 1319, KBS World Radio,
so-called North American service in English, JBA carrier even worse
with Doppler flutter. This is the date they were going to boost power
from 100 to 250 kW, but propagation is subnormal.

11710, July 8 at 1345, their friends in the North are doing much
better understanding Propagation 101: choral music at S7-S9, and much
better than // 9435; but VOK has their own drawbax, self-jamming noise
more audible during following English announcement on 11710 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. July 8 morning bandscan for signs of tropo DTV DX finds a
few Bad signals on `open` VHF/UHF channels, but one station is in
solid: RF 21, KUOT-CD, OKC, at 1359+UT, PSIP only KUOT on all five:
21-1, Cornerstone, 40th anniversary slide
21-2, IBN bug UR
21-3, 3ABN bug LR; blurry but legible photo:
http://www.w4uvh.net/KUOT-CD3.jpg
21-4, AFTV bug LR
21-5, Hope Channel bug UR

This lineup matches rabbitears.info which also shows an unused -6.
KUOT transmits from the SE side of OKC, just beyond Valley Brook (a
suburb one never hears of), near SE 97 street and Bryant, 591 feet
AGL, ERP 15 kW and slightly direxional to NW across the bulk of OKC,
not for us. Distance about 117 km = 73 statute miles. Holds up for
several more minutes; Hepburn tropo map predicted only marginal
level-1 enhancement between there and here (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 7260, July 8 at 0119, ME music, S9+25, i.e. VOT Spanish
hour also on 9870. What in the world are they doing broadcasting to
our Hemisphere amid the exclusive ham band? Correxion: this is NOT
IRAN as in my last report; I must have mixed up the lines as VIRI is
OK on 7260 until 0020 in French to W Africa (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7206-LSB, July 8 at 0151, KC4AA working simplex pileups, S5,
occasionally heard when they pause. Maybe they think he is on Navassa
or Antarctica? But QRZ.com lookup shows this exotic call now belongs
merely to:

KC4AA USA flag USA
WILLIAM G MILLS
188 ELLIS MILL RD NE
MILLEDGEVILLE, GA 31061-9020
USA

His contacts include FL, GA, as if here were away from there. His QRZ
info does not say he is anywhere else now, but all the excitement
makes me suspect he be DX.

In 1991-1994 he was HZ1AB in Sa`udi Arabia. I have a QSL from ``Hot
Ziggity, One American Boy`` but I think it was long before that,
probably a different op, club station? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 7268-LSB, July 8 at 0154, K2A, ``13 Colonies, representing
New York``, special event station. Not so piled up here as on 7206.
QRZ.com shows:

K2A USA flag USA
Kenneth Goetz-K2A & K2Z QSL Manager
74 Jerome Ave.
Cairo, NY 12413
USA

And here is the current QSL:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.qrz.com/a/k2a/K2Acard1.jpg
Presumably same call will be applied to other Events subsequently.

While tuned here, I hear an RF blast from my nearest streetlight
igniting at 0155 UT, only 3 minutes after our latest LSS of the year,
but western sky is cloudy (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1989 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
July 7 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, very poor [but we hope better in NE
America, Europe?].

Also confirmed UT Monday July 8 at 0130 following extraneous
``Sun-Power 5850, 7455, 9395`` ID, on 9395 WRMI, good and much
stronger than now // 7780 almost synchronized having just joined
together.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 8 at 0230 on WRMI 7780 again, poor-fair
in noise level.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 8 at 0300 sharp on Area 51 webcast, but
WBCQ 5130.36 not checked until 0327 when it`s dead air! Earlier around
0230 it was S9 to S9+10 with music. Still dead past 0330.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 8 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, S8-S9 vs noise
after operatic music fill. Next:

1816 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania, ND
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
0800 UT Tuesday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW [2 editions], ND
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE
0930 UT Friday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW, ND

Also check 9330 WBCQ for unscheduled airings during testing phase.

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday
cycle, so freshest new airings are on weekends]

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, July 7-UT July 8, WBCQ-6 remains off the air like
it was last Sunday night, and still off at 1711 check July 8, the
target date for World`s Last Chance at flat-earthiness to take over.
At 0115 check, Brother Scare could be heard on old transmitter circa
9330.2, and again at 1706. I`m leaving a receiver on 9330 today as
much as possible: I cannot hardly wait (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENNG
DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, July 8 at 1348, KVOH already on early again with
praise music, S7-S8 and the SSOB far beyond traces of Saudi on 17705,
17615+ but not 17895. Program sked still claims not until *1400 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

NEW HAUSER INTERVIEW

In May, Charlie VanSant, a WLW alumnus, interviewed me for his show
`Monitor` on Cincinnati RRS, June 27. Here it is, 10.3 MB, 28:34:
http://www.w4uvh.net/HauseronMonitor20190627.mp3

This has been added to linx for other gh interviews at the bottom of
http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html
(Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 12880, July 7 at 1317, CNR1 jammer, S9-S6 during Sunday
evening cultural show, dramatic music and narration stronger than //
11540

13070, July 7 at 1317, CNR1 jammer, S3-S4

13150, July 7 at 1317, JBA carrier maybe another jammer; unlisted
Aoki. No, that would be local mix of 11760 RHC + 1390 KCRC

10960, July 7 at 1319, JBA carrier, maybe another; listed as vs SOH
relaying RFA. No other WOOB ones found 10-15 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 15575, July 7 at 1356, KBS World Radio hits S6 but
totally unreadable, allegedly in English. They told Alan Holder, Isle
of Wight, that from July 8, full power of 250 kW would be restored,
after almost a year reduced to 100. Will it be 2.5 times stronger? Ha,
that`s not how it worx. Far more effective would be moving to 9 or 11
MHz band, or even better arranging a relay if they really care to be
heard in North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475, July 7 at 1939, WTWW-1 is on day frequency instead of
night frequency, but only S9 peaks and JBM with PPPPP. Certainly
ailing (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 10550, July 7 at 1320, that open carrier at S6-S5
punxuated by clix about once a second (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1955 UT July 7

Glenn Hauser logs July 5-6-7, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** BRAZIL. 9630, 9664, 9725, 9818, 11815, 11856, July 7 at 0147-0148,
notable by their absence, not even JBA carriers from the mostly
off-frequency ZYs. Nor 11780 which I assume is off now, tho regularly
active earlier. The others seem to be disappearing from the ether one
by one. Or: curtailed skeds, and/or péssima propagação, as Carlos
Gonçalves, Portugal has reported all these except 9725 and 11856 in
late June at other dayparts; plus also 9515, 9550 and 11895 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, July 7 at 0132, RHC is suptorted S9+20/30, JBM, but I
can recognize it`s Arnie ending his other show `Breakthru`. Only //
6165, at 0135 is S9+25/35 and undermodulated but sufficient by
comparison now in jazz show. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 4765, July 7 at 0156, still no signal from R. Progreso. If
anyone ever hear it again, be sure to report; nominal sked was
0030-0400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 7260, July 7 at 0140 tune-in to music on AM, then a bit of
dead air and off, so I wonder if it`s an ham screwing around; until I
uplook 7260 in EiBi to find Iran in Spanish to Caribbean listed during
this hour. Lawless nation: ¿what are they doing broadcasting inside
the 40m hamband into our Hemisphere?

11660, July 7 at 0149 tune-in, convenient ID immediately in Spanish
for VRII, poor-fair S4-S7. This one from Sirjan to Central America
scheduled 2350-0250 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also
UNID 6151.5-USB

** KUWAIT. 17549.97, July 6 at 2225, R. Kuwait, JBA in Arabic, and
again by this hour both the Strongest Signal On Band, and Only Signal
On Band; knocked off-frequency just to make it more interesting,
taking over that task from RHC which now is right on 15370 and 7380
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6875-USB, UT Sun July 7 at 0137, dense rock music at
S9, no pauses or announcements past 0200. Many reports here
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,55749.0.html
starting at 0033, and no ID until 0202 as Mix Radio International; if
only I had stayed with it 2 minutes longer --- but I`m already late
for `Weekend Radio` on WCLV. HFU guys report it still going at 0240.
First pirate I`ve heard in quite some time except for YHWH (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 11980, July 6 at 0529, VOT is S9+10/S8, so despite my
previous comment, would be enough to enjoy some music, except it`s all
Turkish talk now, and somewhat muffled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1989 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday July 6
at 0130 on WRMI 7780, fair but not enough vs high local noise level.
Also reported by Mark Coady, Ontario: ``7780 USA WRMI at 0144 with
Glenn Hauser's “World of Radio” - Fair July 6``

Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, reports: ``GERMANY, Reception of World of Radio
via HLR on 6190 CUSB, July 6

https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2019/07/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_6.html
0631-0700 6190 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg CeEu English Sat, weak
signal``

I try not to be awake before 1200 UT, but Mark Coady, Ontario reports:
``9955 USA WRMI at 1155 with Glenn Hauser's “World of Radio” - Fair to
Good July 6``

NOT confirmed Sat July 6 at 1430 on HLR 9485-USB; no signal at all via
UTwente SDR, just huge splash from 9490 Romania. As usual.

Confirmed Sat July 6 at 2109 the 2100 on WRMI 9955, fair-good.

Also confirmed UT Sun July 7 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, S9+40/50, yet can
still hear some nearby lightning crashes from SE Kansas if not West
Texas. Fill music overlaps my introduxion, and even more of it
overlaps my outroduxion just before 0159.

Next broadcast may not be, as at 0158 I am getting no signal on 1860
kHz AM from WA0RCR, Wentzville MO; still no signal at 0328 when WOR
would be playing; despite S9+10 high local noise level, I can still
detect an LSB ham on 1940 kHz. Next:

1030 UT Sunday HLR 7265-CUSB Germany to WSW
2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Monday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 7780-new to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 [maybe also 9330?] to WSW

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, Friday July 5 at 2343, WBCQ-6 with `Radio TimTron
Worldwide``, S9+30/20. Getting to be a habit in the hour before
AAAWWW, but presumably not any more once the flat-earthers take over.

9330.00, UT Saturday July 6 at 0000, WBCQ-6 starting `Angela and Allan
Weiner WorldWide` with Wm. Tell Ov., says quadricasting on all 4
frequencies, but no point in my bothering with the other three. Now I
am hearing slight overmodulation/distortion for the first time on this
bigsig --- need to back off the mod level just a tad, or as kvz would
say, a titch. I`m otherwise busy so leave it to our correspondent in
mid-north Indiana, John H. Carver, Jr.:

Tonight's show started about a minute early after a couple minutes of
fill music with voiceovers by Allan. Listening on 9330 this evening.
Allan and Angela in the studio complaining about the heat in Maine.
Angela is half naked according to Allan and he ended up taking his
shirt off. Freddie is on the phone by 0007. Talk of heat, 4th of July,
mowing grass and tractors. Allan and Angela were off last week for an
antique auto tour.

Freddie off the phone at 0036 allowing Tony Straka to phone in. Allan
says WLC will start broadcasting on Monday and so next week they will
be turning the antenna to hit different areas of the world. Phone call
from Freddie again at 0043 asking Allan if he could run an episode of
Trailer Trash Radio over the superstation. Allan says he will have to
find the old tapes, have someone transfer one to a CD so it could be
broadcast on the new transmitter and would have to be done this
weekend as WLC starts Monday.

Reading of emails at 0048 and a phone call from Larry Will after the
first email stating that he had access to the Trailer Trash tapes and
could transfer the episode that Freddie wants to the station. More
email at 0053 and immediately another phone call. Back to email and
phone call at 0056. Back to email. Automation cuts Allan off at 0100
and then fades down and Allan is faded up again. Closing prayer at
0101. Program was off the air at 0104``

At 0440 recheck I notice that 9330.00 is playing VORW.

9330.00, Sat July 6 around 2100 not on yet, but at 2207, unfamiliar DJ
is playing tunes he says are all from YouTube videos (so no copyright
concerns?), billed as ``WBCQ Shakedown Cruise``. Nice eclectic
selexion including ``Guantanamera`` at 2221. Too-quick closing at 2259
gave name and website neither of which I could catch; and 2300 into
another TimTron giving today`s date (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, July 6 at 1941, yet again WTWW-1 is on night frequency
in the day, S7-S8 seems dead air, but straining, I think I can hear it
JBM. Nothing on 9475. By 2232 recheck, 9475 has finally come up with
SFAW.

5085, Sat July 6 at 2335, WTWW-2 starts `Theatre Organ in the Ozarx`
only five minutes late, and lasts only 28 minutes! until 2403. After
Bob Heil`s opening, no further announcements heard, just continuous
music, which of course I am really enjoying in $tereo on webcast
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, July 7 at 0142, S9+35 of dead air from WRNO. Their
live air never has anything worth listening to anyway (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, July 7 at 0329 UT, ad for something in Mackinaw City,
so it`s surely still WJNL in Traverse City market, dominant now over
KGYN even on the east-west longwire. Prompted by my inquiry, Don
Hosmer now reports it to the WOR iog:

``I live 60 miles east and just south of WJNL's Kingsley xmtr site. I
am hearing the Jim Bohannon show from 0315 to present 7/06 on 1210
kHz. I get a fair signal using my directional W6LVP loop aimed at
Kingsley. But on my longwire and G5RV dipoles, co-channel Philadelphia
station WPHT (IDed at 0355) overpowers WJNL. No sign of their sister
station WJML 1110 kHz which is a 10 KW daytimer vs. WJNL's 50 KW. I
don't regularly listen to MW and can't tell if they are stronger than
in the past. Don Hosmer, W8SWL, West Branch MI USA``

Thanks, Don; from your obs, and my sufficient but not strong
receptions, WJNL may not be running the full 50 kW ND at night; maybe
the 2.5 kW critical-hours power which they should be using anyway
before sundown sign-off [non] and after sunrise sign-on [non] (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6151.5-USB, July 7 at 0134, weak 2-way INTRUDERS in
Spanish. Amazngly, at this time no broadcast signals are to be heard
on 49m band between 6070 CFRX and JBA carrier on 6155, which would be
Zahedan, Iran in Arabic until 0230 (and I see in EiBi, immediately
followed by BBC in Farsi for an hour via Uzbekistan; what a
coincidence) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) see also IRAN

** CHINA. 12870, July 5 at 1333, CNR1 jammer at S8-S9.

13550, July 5 at 1334, CNR1 jammer at S6-S8

14850, July 5 at 1335, CNR1 jammer at S5-S7.

All three are //. This time I did not dig further for carriers or
beyond the 12-15 MHz range. Wolfgang Bueschel reminds us of his
exhaustive survey of SOH/jammers from April 6, which he has just
rechecked via remote receivers in E Asia, in the 1158-1600 UT period:
he was not hearing 12870 or 13550 at whatever time he went by, and had
not yet reached 14850 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, July 5 at 1309, `Amigos de Cuba` friends-only mailbag,

wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11850, July 5 at 2140, RHC Spanish here is JBM, much softer
than // 11760. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15369.22, July 5 at 2145, S9 RHC Spanish knocked itself way
off-frequency from 15370.0. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn

** KUWAIT. 17550.0, July 5 at 2144, JBA carrier amid Radio Kuwait`s
optimistic Arabic quadrihour for C & W North America nevertheless
qualifies as both the SSOB and OSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, July 5 at 0300, VP carrier vs noise level,
then barely recognize Josiah on Station YHWH just as expected. Others
confirm him on here tonight; Rick Barton, AZ heard him cut on at 0243,
and Walt Salmaniw, BC says he was already off when he tuned in at 0353

** U S A. 9330.00, UT Fri July 5 at 0307, WBCQ-6 at S9+30/40
exclaiming ``marijuana`` several times, ``Radio Free Euphoria`` and
then a song about dope. RFE is really on the WBCQ sked only at 02-03
UT Sun on 5130+v, i.e. part of Area 51. HF Underground archive has
many logs of RFE when it was really a pirate on 42mb, mostly in the
2009-2012 era.

9330.00, Fri July 5 at 2137, WBCQ-6 obviously the antique music of
`Behaviour Night` which is scheduled this hour on 7490.1v --- also
there but *not* // and not synchronized, VP with line noise level
cutting on and off, mostly on. I continue listening to 9330 for next
announcement saying he is commemorating the birthday of Bix
Beiderbecke, March 10, 1903 --- so this episode is obviously an
archived one from March of some year --- if an exact match, it could
not be 2019 since March 10 was on a Sunday. Presumably the barely
audible episode on 7490.1v is a ``new`` one.

9330.00, July 5 at 2200 goes into another oldie show, giving frequency
as ``7.415``, two hyper DJs but no title heard. 7490 sounds like
Brother Scare now as usual during this weekday hour. Soon there is to
be a lot more of him on 7490.1v, filling ``all`` unsold time, since he
can no longer be on 9330.1v at all (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, July 5 at 0541, WTWW-2 again with `Pete Santilli Show`
of far-right talk. I suspect it start around 0400 weeknights, after DJ
rock music strip (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, UT Fri July 5 at 0318 UT, Jim Bohannon show, soon
breaking for an adstring, including AARP, MSF PSAs; Pace Publishing,
babbel.com. With usual ~3 Hz SAH against KGYN. From previous research
I`m certain this is still 50 kW daytimer WJNL, Kingsley MI, cheating
at night.

Recheck at 0600, ``WJNL News`` ID and bong before some network news. I
thought the Michigan ARE Tipsheet would be interested in this, but
despite my numerous previous logs of this almost nightly since June
24, no notice of WJNL; no MAREs reported it either nor anybody I can
find since then. Is anyone paying attention? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** ANTARCTICA. 15476-, Thu July 4 at 1416, JJBBA carrier slightly on
the low side, signature of LRA36 on the air; as confirmed by Manuel
Méndez, Spain, later, extremely weak around 1900. I cannot detect it
at 1915 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 7730, July 4 at 1248, VP in Chinese; and a JBA carrier on
7570. Better known as WRMI frequencies, but now surely CNR1 jammers.

WRMI 7570 is apparently still off the air like it was last night,
instead of with SMTV as scheduled 11-14 UT. However, CNR1 jamming
would not be expected until 1300 VOA Mandarin hour via Thailand
start.

7730 is a Sound of Hope, Taiwan frequency 23 hours a day and thus
subject to continuous jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11670, July 4 at 0138, RHC Spanish is JBM, much softer than
// 11700, 11760, 11850 --- it`s more like the JBA spurs on 11840 &
11860. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** CUBA [and non]. 9535, July 4 at 0541, RHC Spanish is still running
now colliding with Algeria in Arabic via FRANCE, which is on 9535 at
05-06 only, expecting it to be clear! Sometimes RHC past 0500 on 9535
has switched to English feed, not this time. Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, July 4 at 0135, music from XEPPM, back on the air
after about a week out of air, S9+10/20 but that includes the high
local line noise level. Manuel Méndez, Spain, reported it earlier, and
Ron Howard too, who forwards this: ``from Facebook (WRTH), from Luis
Alejandro Vallebueno: "Radio Educación XEEP, 6185 kHz has been
reactivated today [July 2] at 18:00 GMT with 1.5 kW. Information via
Julián Santiago Díez de Bonilla and Pilar Cruz"``. Original rated
power as in WRTH 2019 was 10 kW. We used to hear directly from JSDB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1989, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 11769.9, July 4 at 1923, S5-S7 carrier, no doubt VON maybe
still in English but can`t hear any (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** TURKEY. 11980, July 4 at 0545, ME music, VP S5-S7. HFCC shows it`s
VOT Turkish at 04-06, 500 kW at 310 degrees toward W Europe and also
USward. In previous years this transmission was listenable here for
the music, but not with solar flux below 70 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1988 monitoring: confirmed
Wednesday July 3 at 2100 on WRMI 9955, and finally *not* upcut,
automation back in alignment after IS & ID loop, S7 vs S6 noise level
when tuned to next vacant frequency. However, *no* signal, not even a
carrier audible from simulcast on WBCQ 7490+v, and despite HNL,
generally VP summer reception, think that transmitter is not on air.
However2, WOR confirmed on webcast check at 2128, again followed by
the variable-key singing of the late Goddess Irina I at 2130.

WOR 1988 also confirmed UT Thu July 4 at 0116 the 0100 on WRMI 7780,
JBA vs S9+10 local noise level, seems from nearby powerline; worst on
the lower SW bands and also peaking amid the MW band around 1200 kHz.

** U S A. 9330.00, July 3 at 2100, WBCQ-6 is on at S9+25, opening
another `Allan Weiner Worldwide` playback from when it was ``live`` on
7490 and 5130, sometime last year when Angela was just a girlfriend,
`half-nekkid`, as it was 85 degrees (in Fla) and they were just back
from a Caribbean cruise – I remember hearing that the first time.
Meanwhile, cannot detect any signal at all on 7490+v when World of
Radio should be airing.

9330.00, UT Thu July 4 at next check 0117, a very mean-sounding talk
host must be Hal Turner as scheduled weekly, 01-03 on WBCQ 7490+v, and
which frequency is still undetectable here; confirmed as such by same
thing // if not synchronized on 9455 WRMI, which activates this
frequency only on Wednesday night for Turner, flanked by an hour
before and after of BS.

9330.00, UT Thu July 4 at 0330, VORW gets a chance on WBCQ-6 500 kW,
John in a mailbag acknowledging first-name-only reports mostly of 9395
(WRMI). May not know he`s on 9330 right now; then music requests
3-in-a-row. Don`t expect anything but World`s Last Chance ministry on
9330 starting July 8 unless that target date slip again (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7570, July 4 at 0125, this WRMI is unusually off the air
while 7730, 7780 are still going; and 9455 with Hal Turner // 9330
WBCQ but not 7490 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505v, July 4 at 0124, WRNO is on again with gospel music at
S9/+10. Strangely with regular fading about once per second, like a
subaudible het --- in this case I can`t imagine from what, as HFCC
shows nothing else scheduled now; Goa and Dushanbe are on 7505 at
other dayparts. Self-imposed transmitter problem? 0327 recheck now
WRNO in Chinese, so still some `Grace for Today` even if not all-night
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1989, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825, Wed July 3 at 2105, WWCR gets sporadic E boost to
S9+5, nice flamenco classical guitar music, ``olé`` and 2106 starting
``Luz para las Rosas`` by the ``ministerio Hermana Rosa de Hierro``
(Sister Iron Rose), what a name. Perhaps that is a subset of what`s on
the program sked Wed at 2100-2130 on WWCR-1: `La Voz Alegre` with Rex
Morgan. That would be same as the Spanish service from Madagascar
World Voice, which axually originates in nearby Franklin TN (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, UT Wed July 4 at 0325, WTWW-2 is off, no rock DJ
tonight, altho 5830 WTWW-1 remains on with undermodulated SFAW. Next
check at 0535, 5085 still off and could easily overcome the S9+10 line
noise level if it were on; while 5830 is S9+20/30 of dead air. So no
Pete Santilli far-right talk show tonight on 5085. Altho he said he
was on 3 hours a night UT Tue-Sat, he might be on SW only two nights a
week, as I heard UT Tue & Wed on WTWW.

5085, next2 check, UT Fri July 5 at 0105, plug for a ``pray for me``
circle at WTWW, 0107 a Ted ham ad, 0108 hymn, so no more rock DJ even
when on? No, 0119 Ted intro Motown music; at 0200 ``Greatest Hits of
All Time``, Ted`s night to DJ, 0203 Herman`s Hermits. Modulation now
is annoyingly distorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENNG DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, July 4 at 1921, again today, WTWW-1 stays on night
frequency all day – S9 but high noise level, at first seems dead air,
then JBM; nothing on 9475 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 9470, July 4 at 1256, ``Salve Regina`` from WEWN
but also a fast SAH from something in Chinese. Altho WEWN targets the
FE in English about to close at 1300, 9470 is a very busy frequency,
with CNR1 jamming RTI at 12-13. I`ll bet no one hears EWTN over there
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 10550, July 4 at 1259-1300+, S2-S4 carrier open except
for some clix about once per second; what? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11825, July 4 at 1305, open carrier/dead air. Maybe VOA
Mandarin via Thailand not turned off at 1300 or CNR1 jamming of same.
If it were off-frequency 11825.5, per EiBi at 1300-1330 it would be
FEBC Hong Kong via Bocaue, Philippines in the KHA dialect of Tibetan.
This signal much stronger than the CNR1 jammer still running on 11785
vs VOA Philippines (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer hunt July 3 finds the following:

10550, July 3 at 1316, JBA carrier --- maybe not, unlisted

10960, July 3 at 1316, Chinese from CNR1 jammer

11440, July 3 at 1317, CNR1 jammer much stronger than 11460

12820, July 3 at 1349, CNR1 jammer in Chinese, S1-S2

12870, July 3 at 1349, CNR1 jammer best of all S4-S5.

No further WOOB ones found. The five above all check in EiBi as CNR1
jammers against Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12200, July 3 at 0558, RHC English is S7-S9 and still past
0602+, second harmonic of 6100; and 12200 is the SSOB! Somewhat
stronger than 11610 WEWN, everything else on 25m JBA carriers.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 11769.9, July 3 at 0558, no signal from VON here, nor on
7254.9 nor 9689.9; however shortly after 0600, Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria,
found it ``weak`` back on 7254.9 which I did not check again (Glenn

The broadcast is normally on hard-to-hear 5130+v WBCQ; on this
occasion maybe also on 500 kW 9330, but not mentioned by Tom. AW said
something about that previously, or was it last week?

Yes, an earlier twit from Tom publicized AW being on the show June 25!
So is this in addition to or instead of? (Glenn Hauser, 0010 UT July
3, WOR iog via DXLD)

Yes, tonight on http://tmedlin.com/video-2-2/

Gets to AW audio-only on the phone interview at 0115, at first very
undermodulated. And yes, now also on 9330, but bad distortion level,
then improving. At 0100, 9330 had switched from an AWWW playback to
WHVW feed, so I figured Amateur R Roundtable would not be on that.

So far it`s just about AW`s early pirate or ``civil disobedience``
radio days.

Silly me, I started out watching a W5KUB ``live stream`` of Tom
messing with the computer, until I read the fine print -- it was from
2016, which hardly qualifies as live now. ``Live stream`` naming
should be deleted after the fact.

Then I found the real live stream which was about 8 seconds apart from
9330. Later that had been reduced to only one second.

Among the info gleaned from what AW said on this interview:

WBCQ=6 is not full 500 kW power yet, but almost. Will be in a couple
of days. (This contradicts previous info from WBCQ that it had been up
to 500 kW for several days now.) ERP is almost 20 megawatts at 9 MHz.
The 200-ton Ampegon antenna is precisely balanced and can be moved by
hand rather than two 3 hp motors, very quietly. 9330 is currently
aimed 270 degrees true, toward Mexico and Central America (no, that
would be 240 degrees or less). It takes 2.5 minutes for the antenna to
rotate 360 degrees. Has TimTron hooked his ham rig up to the Ampegon?
Not yet. Tom would like to do that when he visit Monticello. The very
large final tube cost $80K. Another one for standby is on order. 5130
transmitter is #2. WBCQ property occupies 200 acres (earlier he gave a
smaller figure over 100). The Weiners live in a house ``down the
road`` and there is no RF overload problem at ground level from the
500 kW. Will have new QSL cards for the first time in 20 years. But AW
hardly has spare time to send them. Please include SASEs. The entire
interview lasted until 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, July 2 at 1932, WTWW-1 is still on night frequency,
not 9475. I hear that Ted is in a wheelchair, so may have mobility
issues getting to and from and around inside the station. But
shouldn`t it be remote-controlled for frequency changes??

5085, UT Wed July 3 at 0610, WTWW-2 is on again with the Pete Santilli
far-right talk show, plugging his survivalist food; guest on phone is
``Ben Time Traveler``, still going at 0621. Haven`t found when this
start and if rock DJ lineup earlier be curtailed (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, July 2 at 1933, missing earlier, now KVOH is S5-S6
and modulating (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
