VOT continuum with prevoicing and manipulation of duration
dario.fuentes.grandon@...
Dear Praat users,
I'm preparing some stimuli for an EEG experiment where I have to use a VOT continuum that contains prevoicing (negative VOT steps). I'm not sure how to create those steps properly but I ended up trying the manipulation of duration function to increase/decrease the prevoicing of [b] in a nonword. After a quick look at the results (see images attached) I was quite happy as the increased and decreased versions look and feel like natural prevoicing without disrupting other acoustic features. Moreover, it seems that this function is quite easy to use in a script. However, because I'm not sure what is the best approach to deal with prevoicing, I was wondering whether this function is actually recommended for increasing/decreasing prevoicing or whether there are any problems that it might generate for the purposes of creating a VOT continuum. Many thanks! |

Yo encuentro que está todo muy hermoso y que se ve súper razonable y no se me ocurre otra manera de hacerlo. <3 On Thu, 19 Jan 2023 at 10:56, <dario.fuentes.grandon@...> wrote: Dear Praat users, -- Mauricio A.
