Dan zal ik ook nog wat Nederlandse feedback geven;

1. Op het moment dat een (Long) Sound afspeelt dan hangen vervolgens onder Linux alle scherpmjes. Je kunt de omvang van het scherm niet aanpassen en het hoofdscherm wordt niet bijgewerkt. (dit lijkt me een breaker)

Reproduceren: geluidafspelen, scherm maximaliseren, (zwarte rand), neem niet een te lang geluid, want je moet eerst het scherm weer correct krijgen om het geluid te stoppen.

2. Als de lijst met "input source" in het opname scherm langer is dan de scherm omvang dan gaat de slider en de knoppen er onder over die lijst heen. Ook als de bronnen een langere naam hebben gaan ze onder de meter door.

3. In mijn versie op Linux gaan er wat UTF/Unicode tekens fout. Het teken voor "modifiable sound" is 301C. Voor Derived spectogram en Derived Pitch heb ik wel tekens. Wellicht is dat een lettertype probleem.

4. Veelvuldig klikken op Visible part of Total duration zorgt er voor dat er 'Plays' worden gequeued, lijkt er dus op dat ze niet snel genoeg worden afgehandeld. Wellicht zit dat op het zelfde niveau als als het eerste probleem

met bijna bedoel ik dat de tab het nog niet doet. De pipewire-pulse, d.i. de PipeWire PulseAudio replacement, is een nieuwere versie geworden onder ubuntu 22.10 en doet het, althans bij mij perfect, zowel korte als lange segmenten.

Wat betekent *bijna* weer goed? Dat impliceert "niet helemaal", toch? En komt de verbetering door een systeemupdate in 22.10?

Praat has been made compatible with new operating system versions, such as MacOS 13 Ventura (this system version may have solved an audio output problem). Praat will run fine on Ubuntu 22.04, though Ubuntu 22.10 contains a problem, namely, the use of a PipeWire version that is not fully compatible with PulseAudio (better to switch PipeWire off if you experience audio output problems).

2. USER INTERFACE

All windows that "view & edit" a time- or frequency-based object now contain "legends" pointing out what you can view or edit. Their menus have been reorganized by object type and have an internal hierarchical structure. You may initially have to search the menus for where your favourite command went, but I predict that after a week or so you will not want to return to the previous situation.

3. FUNCTIONALITY

The FormantPath window (for editing formant curves by locally changing the formant ceiling) is fully functional.

Scripting: again more support for vectors, matrices and string arrays. On the command line, you can now use "--send" to send a script to a running Praat, without having to use the sendpraat app.

4. FINALLY

There are many improvements in stability, speed and documentation, so Praat 6.3 is advised for everybody. If you have compatibility concerns, then rest assured that scripts designed for older Praat versions should continue to run; plug-ins and added buttons may yield a warning (not more than once in every Praat session) if a menu where a command was installed is no longer present (Praat will make a sensible guess for an alternative menu).
