Shimmer maximum amplitude factor

Feinberg, David

Hi Paul et al
I am trying to figure out what Shimmer's Maximum Amplitude Factor represents.  I can't seem to find anything in the manual on shimmer parameters (only a list of the different algorithms), but I think they are the same for Jitter, but Jitter doesn't have an amplitude parameter.  I took the definition for Maximum Period Factor from Jitter here and modified it accordingly... Is this correct?

Maximum Amplitude Factor is the largest possible difference IN AMPLITUDE between consecutive intervals that will be used in the computation of shimmer. If the ratio of the amplitudes of two consecutive intervals is greater than this, this pair of intervals will be ignored in the computation of shimmer (each of the intervals could still take part in the computation of shimmer in a comparison with its neighbour on the other side).

Thanks,
David

dear David,

yes, this is exactly correct.

best wishes,
Paul
