Praat 6.2.23 Issue with SoundRecorder dialogue, during Save to list operation

Hello again,

This time I think I've got a real issue to report.

I've noticed this problem several times, that if I make a recording at sample rate R1 (e.g. 16000/s) and then inadvertently change the sample rate to R2 after making the recording, and then click "Save to list", the sample rate used for the recording in the list is R2 rather than R1.

I didn't realize the exact sequence of events that led to this problem until today when I decided to figure out exactly how this happens.  Once I figured the sequence out, it's 100% repeatable.

There are two issues with this:
1) I think the sample rate should be established when the recording is made, not during the save operation using the current dialogue setting.

2) It is too easy to accidentally change the sample rate in this dialogue.  Clicking anywhere in that area of the window (not just the buttons) will change the rate. I think a drop down menu would be preferable and less error prone.

Further, I'd like to suggest that for convenience the sample rate default should be something that is preserved between restarts of Praat.

Thanks for reading this,

- Corey

Hello,
I agree with your point 2). It would be helpful if the sampling rate were kept until intentionally changed. Or at least that it does not change by clicking anywhere  in the window.
