Hi all,
If those of you who receive the newsletter via email could let me know if you received your copy I would greatly appreciate it. I had some issues with sending and I want to make sure it was sent correctly.
Also just an FYI - the newsletter is the real one, it is not a draft. I did not realize it said that when I sent it out and I don’t want anyone to be confused :-).
I hope to see you at the GT tonight (at The Metropolitan Diner in North Wales). I also look forward to seeing many of you at the PMGC vs DVT Mini Golf Challenge at Freddy Hill Farm in Lansdale on Saturday (7/16) at 10am.
Thanks and Safety Fast,
Kristi

Re: 1978 MGB Engine Quits
Keith, hi my name is Gerard I have a 79B, I am no expert but I would like to offer a suggestion. You said you were removed some of the Emission control system? When I first got my B, two things cause the engine to stop abruptly one was a vapor lock generated in the fuel line near the carburetors(my Zenith Stromberg was replaced with twin SU HS4's) The second and this is my particular theory could be a fool the anti-run on valve. There is also a fuel cut off valve under the drivers dashboard, which is designed to shut off the fuel flow if the car flips over. Validate the operational condition of these items it may be a place for you to start. Good luck keep me posted and let me know what happens. Gerard ........ gdangelo6118@...

Vintage MG Racers in Michigan
Vintage Motorsport Newsletter 7/7/2016 by Scott and Cyndi Paceley
Tony's Track, But Just for a Day
Speedway, IN -- What do you give as a farewell gift to an Indiana native son who's competed in five Indianapolis 500s, won the Brickyard 400 twice, and is the only driver to win IndyCar and Nascar championships? If he's Tony Stewart, you give him a dirt track in recognition of his final appearance at IMS in this year's July Nascar event.
IMS gives Stewart a special loud playground. photo: Fritz Frommeyer
"He really loves short-track racing," IMS president Doug Boles said of Stewart, "So it was a pretty easy decision for us."
More than 50 truckloads of dirt later, a 3/16ths flat track sprang up inside the big oval's turn three. Working with USAC, there were six midgets at IMS the evening of July 5 to run exhibition laps on the new surface, which held up well. Stewart, of course, had his turn at the wheel, along with former IndyCar driver Sarah Fisher, and Bryan Clauson, USAC champ and two-time "500" starter. Other USAC drivers also participated.
"Never in our lifetime," would Stewart have thought of seeing cars race on a dirt track inside the Speedway.
"My pavement career happened because of (competing on) dirt tracks," he said. "If you can control a car on a track like this, you can race anywhere."
The temporary track was built just for the day and is being removed, but Boles didn't hide the fact that this could lead to something permanent. If that would happen, "We would never do a weekly race here" like so many short tracks do, he said. "It would have to be something pretty special."
Don't count it out. -- Fritz Frommeyer
Penske Receives IMRRC's Argetsinger Award
Corning, NY -- A capacity crowd at the Corning Museum of Glass was treated to an evening of tributes, shout-outs, slide shows and interviews June 30 as the International Motor Racing Research Center presented the Cameron R. Argetsinger Award to racing icon Roger Penske.
From the left, Duke and J.C. Argetsinger, sons of Cameron Argetsinger, Roger Penske and Bobby Rahal.photo: IMRRC
Penske, whose Team Penske is celebrating 50 years in the sport this year, received the award from Argetsinger's sons J.C. and Duke, along with Bobby Rahal, four-time Indianapolis 500 winner and chairman of the IMRRC's Governing Council.
Later in the evening, Penske fielded questions about his personal life and career, along with the story of a $100 bet with fellow driver Augie Pabst that ended with a car in a hotel swimming pool.
This was the IMRRC's third consecutive presentation of the award recognizing outstanding contributions to motorsports in the name of the founder and organizer of the first races at Watkins Glen, NY. Multi-team owner and former driver Chip Ganassi was the first recipient of the Argetsinger Award in 2014. NASCAR icon Richard Petty was the 2015 honoree.

San Francisco CA -- Questions over the structural integrity of the Civic Center Plaza, site of the Sept. 10 Ferrari Festival in the planning for months, have prompted organizers to call off the event.
Safety concerns forced the Ferrari Festival's cancellation photo: Golden Gate Ferrari Festival
A statement from the Ferrari Owners Charitable Foundation cited the lack of adequate time for a structural engineering firm to explore concerns about the plaza's safety for attendees.
As VM noted in the June 23 eNews, the event plans called for a display of more than 400 Ferraris on the Civic Center Plaza, as well as a special appearance by 2016 Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi, as part of raising $500,000 for Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.

The Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance has a 60-consecutive-year history of honoring and celebrating excellence in automotive design and engineering. The selection committee's exacting standards for authenticity and excellence guarantee an exclusive group of cars in the event, offering the public a rare look at some of the world's most celebrated automobiles.
To extend the philanthropic reach and impact of the concours, the Hillsborough Concours Foundation was established in 2010. In addition to the Hillsborough Schools Foundation, all net proceeds from the concours will benefit Autism Speaks, and The Guardsmen, a San Francisco-based volunteer organization dedicated to helping at-risk children thrive.

VM 's July/Aug 2016 Issue is On Sale Now!
Don't miss the 16.4 Jul/Aug 2016 issue of Vintage Motorsport
172 pages! The July/Aug 2016 issue is one of our biggest ever, with the ex-David Hobbs McLaren BMW 320i 650-hp Turbo on the cover and in 7 pages of the "Salon" photo feature. Pete Lyons explores the history of Don Nichols and his Shadow Can-Am cars while Burt Levy jumps in the cockpit of a Shadow DN4 to tell us what's it's like at speed at Road Atlanta ("um, scary..."). Porsche fans won't want to miss the story of "Moby Dick," the ultimate 911 race car and we explore the history of sports car racing at Candlestick Park--yes, that Candlestick Park. We tell the fascinating story of fuel injection pioneer Stu Hilborn while Jimmy Vasser talks about his favorite race -- in an Indy car, of course. What's a Waggott? You'll find out here! We also hit the road in a beautiful 1961 Lotus Elite and cover event action from the Monaco Historiques, HSR's The Mitty, VRG's Jefferson 500, the Sonoma Historics, Historic Gasoline Alley, The Quail Motorcycle Gathering, HMSA's Barber Motorsports Park and VARA's High Desert Classic. Plus columns from D. Randy Riggs, Pete Lyons, Jochen Mass, Burt Levy and more.
