Steve,

Here's a blurb you may want to include.  Though, I think it's mostly for late model Bs.

I'm finishing up refurbing the fuel vapor capture system in my 1978 B.  It hasn't be cleaned or charcoal renewed since the car was new.
The reason I'm doing it is the car quit a couple weeks ago with symptoms of fuel starvation.  The fuel system is airtight and if any of the
tubing or electric valves are blocked the vacuum from consuming fuel can overpower the fuel pump.

The activated charcoal cannisters are $77 each (two needed) from Moss Motors.  But, there is a video on the Internet on how to easily refresh them.
I bought activated charcoal and filter material from a pet store's acquarium isle and it worked great.  Nice savings.

This little project also inspired me to start cleaning up the engine bay.

Hello!
I am compiling images for the annual MGB and GT Calendar.
Photo submissions for the 2017 calendar are arriving slower than last year.
This means two things,
  1. I need photos, and
  2. The probability of your photo being placed in the calendar is better than before; but, please do not send photos you submitted in previous years.
I would love to see your high resolution JPG or TIFF photos of MGBs, MG BGTs, MGCs, and MG CGTs by return email. If your photo is larger than, say 5 MB you can send it via this link :
TRANSFERBIGFILES.COM. Make sure to include photographer's name, and the general location of the photo so you get credit for the photo. If you use 'transferbigfiles' drop me an email with the file name in it so I can match you up with your photo.

If you have a friend that is interested in MGs please do forward this to them!

If you would like a copy of my "taking car photos" PDF  just ask and it will come back by email probably within 48 hours.
There are no left over 2016 calendars, I donated all the remains before I left Massachusetts to move to Washington.
You are always welcome to visit the website, but it is undergoing a shakeup for the 2017 ordering season.

Thanks for all you do to make owning an MG a great experience!

My son and I are the ones that made this available to the Philly MG and South Jersey Club lists.
As a former Electrical engineer I can tell you there is something we can do about it.
I have ordered a few film capacitors made for the electronics market that should be superior in every aspect
temp / AC & DC voltages and quality of construction.  I will try these out and let you know how they work out.
The most promising is one that looks like it will fit inside the distributor in place of the original crap part (it has a rating of .22 mfd / 105deg C /1000VDC)  Should be 10 times better and cost about $4.
I'll keep you posted, Nils

Moss is well aware of condenser issues. They purchased a distributor machine to perform tests and have been working closely with Jeff Schlemmer of Advanced Distributors to check and maintain quality. It is currently an uphill battle though.

My Petronics failed before MG2016 and on the way out. But fortunately it didn't leave me stranded. I have a spare points distributor that George loaned me and Pete Cosmides installed it in Louisville, KY. It is staying in for now. I might send the Petronics to the Company to see what they find.

I was thinking of having a backup Petronix in the car just in case.

Or, you could switch to Petronix Electronic ignition and never have to worry about condensers again. I switched in 2004 when my engine was rebuilt and have never had a problem since.

Gerard some the same thing a year ago. There are supposedly some better quality ones being made in europe but have not actually hit the market yet.  I am waiting with baited breath since i still run points in both of my cars.

Jeff & the rest of the Club,
Yes, the June Cruise from Nutts to the grounds for sculpture is still on. According to Rand McNally it will only take us 16 minutes to get there. Remember to order tickets (for 10 AM) & bring them with you.
If you will be attending please email me so that we know who is attending - we don't want to leave anybody at Nutts (without directions)!

Rich,
Thanks. I will check on that and if it's true delay the meeting at Nutts until 10.

I just went to the "Grounds for Sculptures" site to buy tickets for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25 and found that they don't open until 11 a.m.  Am I missing something (special time for the club to tour)?  It looks like they open on Saturdays at 11 a.m.

Dear Club Members,

Our Club June Cruise takes place on Saturday, the 25th. We will meet at Nutts restaurant (1382 River Road, Titusville, NJ - itsnuttsrestaurant.com) at 9 AM for breakfast. After breakfast we will begin a short cruise to the "grounds for sculpture" in Hamilton, NJ. The grounds for sculpture requires timed ticketing, so please order your tickets for 10 AM from their website - www.groundsforsculpture.org - before meeting at Nutts. If you need more info call or text me at 610-608-4287 or reply to this email.
