As I am one of the 'Perseus Old Timers', I want to let you know the
reason why my Perseus has not been online for a long time.
I am frequently active on the ham bands, so if my Perseus would be
remotely tuned close to my TX frequency, the unit could be damaged easily.

I agree as well. There are also a lot of Perseii sitting somewhere in a drawer doing nothing. I know a few.

But on the other hand, the question is if it makes sense to put up a server in an environment full of electrosmog.

Furthermore, I had my Perseus in the beginning also online for a few months but the number of connections made where so low that I pulled the plug. Around that time, Jaguar arrived and I switched to daily recordings.

Ciao Angelo,

Re: Password

Guido Schotmans

I agree as well. There are also a lot of Perseii sitting somewhere in a drawer doing nothing. I know a few.

But on the other hand, the question is if it makes sense to put up a server in an environment full of electrosmog.

Furthermore, I had my Perseus in the beginning also online for a few months but the number of connections made where so low that I pulled the plug. Around that time, Jaguar arrived and I switched to daily recordings.

73,

Guido.

TOTALLY AGREE at 100%

it's a pity to see 50 of 6000 Perseus units ONLY worldwide on Server net for free
access without silly password DISPLAY need like especially given on Switzerland
installations,

miss also the units in western US,
like CA, AZ, and Vancouver coast line,
or more downunder AUS / NZL too,
not to talk about Latin America area,
which were online some 5 years ago ...

not seen these days anymore.

The server might be listed here but often not.

https://www.mwlist.org/perseus_servers.php
I think that this site has not been updated long ago!

It's a pity that the very best SDR in the market has a very poor network support of
users, who are sharing their hardware.

AND

I've never understood why a locked with a password Perseus has to be shown
public, although during the server's setup there is always the option not to be
published...

With all the comments, I agree, since I purchased my Perseus, some six years ago, initially it was impressive with all
the 'free' sites...now well all I can say I would reconsider a unit if I was only just using the Internet ...

Barry, you are right!   I, too, much prefer the Perseus native software to the KiwiSDR!   73,  Walt

Another option available to all is the extensive KiwiSDR network of several hundred remote SDRs, without the need for anything but an internet connection.  Perseus sites are well represented in Europe, and to a lesser extent in Japan, Australia and eastern North America, but absent elsewhere....Walt

Dear Johan,

you can only connect if the owner tells you the password. With over 5000 Perseus sold it‘s a bit sad that less than 1 %  are accessible.

Dear group,

With my Perseus SDR for remote listening I try to connect other Perseus SDR receivers.
Some of them are telling: "Password required".
I don't know how to find that password or it's not allowed for me to connect to them?

Regards,
Johan

Not possible Johan unless you know the owner.

The server might be listed here but often not.

When the prompt comes up to save the file, just edit that to the location you want and next time it will just go there...
