To the best of my knowledge, P-RSL did not own any revenue freight cars so this is definitely a foobie.

Well, there used to be a big RCA factory on the river in Camden just south of the Ben Franklin bridge. I remember seeing the “His Master’s Voice" logo in the clock tower of the building (replacing the clock). Campbell Soup Co. also had a big plant there nearby. Were there industrial rail spurs to the riverfront at those locations? If so, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that RCA owned some rolling stock as pictured.

Michael:  You are correct about RCA and Campbell Soup facilities in that area.  Neither had revenue cars with their logos - although a few toy train manufacturers have lettered cars for Campbell Soup (LGB in particular).  As Glenn Kaiser reported, this RCA car is a "foobie" - meant to sell nostalgia to model railroaders.

As others have noted, this is a fantasy paint scheme.  This will be the second set of cars Berwyn's has offered with this scheme.  The first set, which was advertised back in March, was in the MTH Premier (scale-size) line and was a double sheathed, 40' red boxcar.

I know for certain that Campbell Soup had a siding because I shoved four boxcars in their building while working a job out of Bulson Street in March of 1981.  I can no longer even tell where that siding was because it and the building are now both gone.

Eddie drew up those diagrams sometime just before World War 1.  When the entrance to Cooper's Pt was reconfigured via the Ferry Lot instead of Main St. all of the tracks on Delaware Ave. were changed.  Some of the industrial sidetracks had to be changed to connect with the new track arrangement.  I don't know how much Campbell's Soup was affected.  On Eddie's diagram the sidings listed as J. Campbell was the soup company.

I know for certain that Campbell Soup had a siding because I shoved four boxcars inside their building while working a job out of Bulson Street back in March of 1981.  I can no longer tell where that siding was because both the building and the siding are now gone.  (My previous message did not go through properly.)

The Campbells building for shipping was at Delaware and Federal St next to Van Schiver Furniture. In my time we had 21 A, 21-B, a dedicated switcher that stayed right at the door and when the green light came on, drill was made and loads taken to Coopers Point for the 27-B runner to move to Pavonia after they did the Pine St. work. We also had 27-C which did a little of everything including interchange with RDG Linden St.       1959-1964     Later Campbells moved to 36th St, site of River line facilities now

RCA had a diesel , John Stone where is that picture ?

My father had a medical office (radiology) on Cooper Street, which was “doctor’s row” in Camden. Various specialists took over the old Queen Anne private homes along there and fed each other work. The RCA and Campbells factories were visible down the street and I remember truckloads of tomatoes passing the office and heading for the plant at the end of growing season in Cumberland and Salem counties. At that time of the year the whole area smelled like tomato soup.

Only the best tomatoes, though: the famous “Jersey tomato.”

My dad’s building (318 Cooper St.) is long gone. It’s now all Rutgers U South.
