Group, this is my in progress view of the M70b. I think I’ll start detailing the roof next.

Re: RPO Interior Pictures/Drawings
Here are 3 photos I took inside a CB&Q 60’ RPO in the collection of the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin more than 20 years ago. The first 2 were taken looking to my right at one end

RPO questions
Group,
Digging thru my stash, I found a BCW M70b. Good deal, I can participate. I'd like to do a post WWII car, say 1950 or so. Kit is an arch roof. Also, the center-sill on the model is pretty

Re: M70b
Looking good, Dave. I plan on a couple of M70b's down the road. As stated, I am planning to backdate my M70b into an M70. From what I saw in the two drawings the window layout is the same. I plan on

M70b
Group, I’ve made some progress on my M70b.
1. I replaced the double window doors with porthole doors.
2. I added grab irons to the sides and ends. I still have a couple more grab irons to add,

Re: RPO Interior Pictures/Drawings
Peter, if I can find a good copy, or photoshop one, I'm going to Xerox those cyclopedia drawings a few times, then cut n fold. Can't see much through the windows anyway, but that should look pretty

The postal service contracted with railroads to carry the mail. The contract payments were based in part on the size of the Railway Post Office (RPO) apartment.
Those apartments were 60 feet, 30

Ed,
Just to clarify - the M70B cars lasted in numbers through the mid 1950s, and one car remained on the roster until 1960.

Re: M70B RPO
Thanks to Rich and Claus for the info on the M70/M70b cars. Looks like they did not come close to lasting into the late 50s (the era I model) Many thanks for your help. -Ed Shoben

Chuck,
I think that the term used for the outside support is "bearing" not bolster. At least, that's the term I've heard and used.

All
The attached photo is in the PRR color guide to Freight/Passenger Car book. Please look at the space between the top of the truck and the car. There is a pope that runs the length of the car.

HO Scale 3D5P3 Truck?
For my BM70k, looks like most had 3D5P3 trucks.
Does anyone offer one in HO? Or what might be the best stand in?
