Dave, I will look at my "former" M70b. It does mention the rain drip strips. They should not be hard to fab, possibly from Evergreen 1x2 or 1x3 strip, although it appears thicker in your photo

I would start with looking at a Car Builders Cyclopedia from the era you wish to model, there will be detailed photos and drawings of trucks and their brake rigging.

I've been wondering the same thing. From my observations, the wheels on most of the "shop" trucks on these cars appear to be above the deck, so I'm hypothesizing that there might have been wood

I’ve seen numerous photos of idler cars carrying freight car trucks. How were these trucks secured to the flat car? Was there a ‘cradle’ of sorts that the truck sat on? Did it rest on the car
