Just to add my 2c worth on the op-amp question:-

Being of the, shall we say, economic minded type, I modded my powermeter board to use the Lm358 as in the original powermeter. (Mind you, I had bought several hundred of them at 10c ea some time ago).

It can be fitted to the pcb by lifting only two pins up and fitting 3 short links under the pcb.
And I didn't waste the second op-amp, I set it up as a voltage follower to the A/D output.
