tropical kingbird

The immature Tropical Kingbird continues at the SW end of Fairview Regional Park in Costa Mesa. It was foraging near the bluff's edge this morning, and periodically visiting the grounds of the Waldorf School near the model aircraft site to consume the fruits of Brazilian pepper and ficus trees. I wondered if it could be a returning bird that had been north of Adams along the river last winter, but it is clearly an immature. It has an interesting mix of recently molted and unreplaced juvenile feathers that can be seen in the attached photo.
