Brown Thrasher

Roger Schoedl

On a pre-CBC scouting trip this morning I stopped by Aurora Park and had the continuing BROWN THRASHER on the slope around the pepper tree.

Last weekend the bird had only one ratty tail feather. Remarkably, today it still had the one old feather plus several new ones with nice white tips half grown out.

Though the winter so far has been notable for a general lack of montane species in the lowlands and foothills I had at least 4 PINE SISKINS in the liquid amber trees around the playground.
