Barbara J. “Jackie” Shaffer, 91, of Piqua passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at 9:51 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 in her daughter’s home. She was born March 23, 1931 in Piqua to the late Raymond Adams and Maxine (Neff) Weaver. She married Frederick W. Shaffer December 12, 1949 in Piqua; and he preceded her in death June 14, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Danny) Saunders of Greenville; a son, Craig Shaffer of Piqua; three grandchildren, Missy Shawler, Nick Shawler, Adam Fetters; and four great grandchildren, Damien, Urban, Oakley, and Maya. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Saunders on May 27, 2016.

Mrs. Shaffer was a past attendee Gospel Baptist Church. She worked for many years in the maternity unit of Piqua Memorial Hospital and Detmer Hospital. She also worked for Industry Products before her retirement. She was a talented organist and accordion player. She enjoyed reading, watching and collecting films, as well as sewing and crocheting. In her younger years, she loved to go camping with her husband and enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards. She will be deeply missed.

A service to honor her life will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Morrow officiating. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice, 1350 N.
