Dale Swedberg observed a viceroy while canoeing the Okanogan River near Riverside, north of Omak in 2017. He was unable to photograph it and didn't have a net, but had a clear look when it landed on

Dave Nunnallee and I tried rearing L. archippus on apple. Early instars were reluctant to feed on it and 80% mortality occurred before we switched to Salix. A single caterpillar did complete
