Group Description

This is where you'll find out about events, and let organizers know you'd like to take part. We're a friendly bunch, and we'd like to keep it that way, so if you find yourself wanting to post something cranky, please don't.

POSTING A MESSAGE
Any post should make it clear which event you're referring to, and include your name (and author name, if applicable).

Feel free to discuss other writing-related issues, but this is NOT the place to promote books, get more blog readers, facebook likes etc.

Feel free to promote writing group meetings, conferences, workshops etc., though not your own solo events, and don't promote a sales event unless other NJAN members were invited to take part.

TAKING PART IN EVENTS
You can throw your hat in the ring for any event, but the organizer has final say on who takes part.

UPLOADING FILES
Name your files clearly (ie: the name makes opening it unnecessary). PDFs take up less space, can't easily be altered, and can be read by most computers, so convert things like Word documents before uploading.

ONE SHEETS
From time to time, you'll see messages about book fairs, solo talks, book-club visits, author luncheons etc. They often include a requirement for participants to have the appropriate one-sheet ready to send to the event coordinator. These get passed on to the event hosts, who use them in their promotion. You don't have to have a one-sheet, but without one, your name won't get put forward. ORGANIZING SOMETHING YOURSELF
Anyone can organize a network event. There's a step-by-step guide to being a coordinator on the main website (njauthorsnetwork.com)

PROMOTING NJAN
You'll find a copy of our logo in the Files section. Please add a permanent link to the NJAN website: www.NewJerseyAuthorsNetwork.com from your blog, website etc.
