voting - electronic opt-in

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

We've had a couple of questions about the electronic opt-in process, so I figured I'd send additional information out to everyone.

1.  Eligible voters.  The people who have earned votes and are eligible to vote in this election include:

     a. NAFA clubs owners of clubs who competed in at least one event during FY2010 (10/1/09 - 9/30/10) and had 4 or more team entries and/or hosted one or more tournament.

     b.  NAFA approved and supervising judges

     c.  NAFA regional directors

     d.  NAFA Board members

2.  Deadline.  Remember to receive your ballots electronically, you must complete the opt-in no later than December 14, 2010 - that's Tuesday.

3.  Complete the 2-step process.  First you go to the web page:  http://www.flyball.org/database/eballot_signup.php and fill out the information.  Second, to complete the process, click on the activation link in the email that is sent to your email address.  This second step is for verification to make sure the email is valid and also to make sure you are the voter.

4.  Update information.  If your email address (or other information) has changed, email updates to:  flyball@...  It will be really important to keep your information up to date with NAFA for future elections as well.

5.  Questions.  If you have any questions or have any difficulties with the process, please send us an email at flyball@... so we can resolve them.

election - opt-in available through 12/14

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

Please see below.  I’d encourage everyone to do the opt-in process as soon as possible in case any changes are needed to email addresses, etc. or you have any difficulty.  Be sure to click on the activation link in the email you receive to complete the process.

2011 Opt-in for Electronic Balloting

This year NAFA is utilizing an outside online voting service for the FY2011 election. We are moving towards an electronic election process, which enables quick, efficient, and easy processing of ballots. This process will also be more green in that voters who opt-in will not receive physical paper copies by snail mail, but will instead receive email notification with the balloting information.

To participate in this election electronically, voters (club owners, RDs, judges, and Board members) are encouraged to visit the link (also available on the NAFA web page) no later than December 14, 2010. The opt-in process will provide you with your vote tabulation for this year's election via email and an activation link that you'll need to click on to complete the process to vote electronically.

To utilize the opt-in, you'll input your first name and last name and your email address. This information must match the information in the NAFA database. For instance, if your name is listed as Thomas Smith, but you type in Tom Smith, it won't recognize you. If your email address has changed, or you have any other problems, send an email to NAFA.

Opt in link: http://www.flyball.org/database/eballot_signup.php.

Please help us spread the word about this process. Feel free to forward this to local flyball lists or to other NAFA voters (club owners, RDs, judges, and Board members) who may not have seen it. For voters who do not participate in the opt-in process, written balloting information will be mailed out by the election service to the last known address on record with NAFA for the voter.

Election update

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

We wanted to give everyone an update on this year's election.  The Annual General Meeting will be held January 29, 2011 in conjunction with the tournament hosted by Mike Smith and Alamo Racing Canines in Huntsville, Texas.  Our final candidate chat is scheduled for December 10, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Central.  Log in at www.flyballinfo.com.   All candidate bios for ED, BoD, HoF, JoY, and MVP are posted on the NAFA site www.flyball.org.

This year, we will be utilizing an outside, web-based election service to manage and conduct the election.  We are currently working on that transition.  We hope to have ballots sent out through that company in the next few weeks.  Our goal is to insure that voters will have approximately 30 days to vote before the deadline.  Because we are using the outside service, ballots will not be able to be hand-delivered at the AGM.  All voters will have the opportunity to vote online.  Voters may also mail in ballots, but they will need to be mailed with adequate time to be received by the outside service sufficiently ahead of the AGM to permit tabulation.  We will set a deadline for receipt of those mailed ballots.

Each voter (club owner, RD, judge, BoD) will have the ability through the online service to cast votes for different candidates where the voter has more than one vote - meaning a voter will have the ability as specifically provided in the new bylaws to split their votes between candidates.  For example, if a club owner who has earned 8 votes wishes to vote 4 votes for Dog A for MVP and 4 votes for Dog B for MVP, the club owner will have that option.

We are hoping to move even more fully towards an electronic voting process.  This year to help transition in that direction, we'll be posting a link on the web page to allow voters to opt in to receive their ballot electronically, rather than through postal mail.  The link will be active in the next few days.  In future years, we will be moving towards having all ballots delivered electronically.  It will be important for voters (club owners, regional directors, judges, and Board members) to keep their email addresses, as well as mailing addresses, up to date with NAFA.

We appreciate everyone's patience with this transition.  More information will be released within the next few days.  In the meantime, we wanted to provide this update so voters were aware of the election status and planning.

Competitor Anniversay Pins

ngarcia1701 <nancykgarcia@...>

One of the big surprises at CanAm was the unveiling of the new Competitor Anniversary Pins. The competitors didn't know what was happening when they were told to group themselves according to the years they had been paying flyball. We then surprised them by passing out 5 year, 10 year, 15 year, 20 year and 25 year competitor pins.

The supply of the new Competitor pins will be mailed out to all the RDs any day now so they will have them to pass out at your next regional tournaments.

new rulebook

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

We’re just putting the finishing touches on the new rulebook and expect it to be posted today.  I know there are several tournaments this weekend.  Dale Smith has done an excellent job of making our new rulebook more user friendly.  It is still a PDF (Adobe) document, but he has added a clickable table of contents to allow you to go directly to the part of the rulebook you are looking for.  There will be an icon on the left side of the rulebook for bookmarks.  If you click on that, it will leave the table of contents in a small window alongside the left of the rulebook (depending on your version & settings in Acrobat).  Each of the sections and rules are links that will take you to that portion of the rulebook.   Also this year we have a list of significant changes at the front of the rulebook.
