2015 NAFA CanAm Classic Volunteers!
We still need volunteers to help fill the six
rings worth of Line/Box Judge chairs on a full time basis for one,
two or possibly all 3 days!
As in the past we will again be offering a stipend for all full time volunteers to help with hotel, food and travel expenses, as well being eligible for numerous drawings throughout the weekend. This year we are also making this offer of a stipend available to Clubs, Combination of various Clubs such as we had from a couple regions last year, or Groups of Individuals that will take responsibility for one or more chairs on a full time basis for a single day or for multiple days. In addition, we always welcome those individuals that would like to come up throughout the day to help give our full time volunteers time for a break. CanAm Regular Championship Trophy renamed 'The Dan Phillips Cup'
At this year's CanAm, everyone will notice a name change to the CanAm Regular Championship Trophy.
NAFA recently renamed the trophy as "The Dan Phillips Cup," to honor Dan and his many contributions to NAFA and the sport of Flyball. Executive Director Lee Heighton announced the change at the Spring Loaded / Quick Silver August 30th tournament. This trophy and its counterparts will be on display at CanAm in October. The "Josh Beissel Spirit of Flyball 2015" Award
Presented by Animal Inn, the ”Josh Beissel Spirit of Flyball” Award will be given to the person(s) that, like Josh, exhibit and embody exceptional goodwill and sportsmanship towards other teams, as well as displaying a real passion and excitement for the thrill of competition and racing.
Josh had a competitor's enthusiasm for racing but he was always humble in victory, gracious in defeat, and when he wasn't in the lanes racing he could always be found assisting another team or the host club.
Josh embodied the spirit of a true ambassador of Flyball and Animal Inn was proud to have had him as a member.
This award is intended to recognize others in our Flyball community that also embody that same spirit and joy for the game that we all love so much.
To nominate someone for the "Josh Beissel Spirit of Flyball Award 2015", please submit your nomination to AnimalInnFlyball@... by September 30th.
Animal Inn will select a recipient from those nominated by the nomination deadline.

Highlights from the August 1st NAFA board meeting
At the August 1 Board of Directors meeting in Detroit MI, the following new Regional Directors were approved: - Region 11 Barb Miller - Region 13 Terri Parrow Botsford - Region 20 Paul Rioux ----- The board approved advancement of the following judges: - Brad Brown - Apprentice to Provisional - Justin Ernst - Apprentice to Provisional - John Forseth - Apprentice to Provisional - Kyle Gilson - Provisional to Approved Congratulations on your advancements. ----- The board voted to make improvements to the Height Card challenge process to ensure anonymity and to allow more people to challenge Height Cards. The board also revised the World Record verification process. A nominal fee will be charged for appeal of aggression excusals. These processes will take effect October 1, 2015. ----- Based on a number of questions, the board affirmed that sportsmanlike racing includes attempting to run all 4 dogs in every heat. ----- Also, August 1st marked the opening of nominations for this year's NAFA elections. ----- Thank you.
