Subject: [NAFANews] CanAm 2012 Meet & Greet Gift Basket Exchange

This email was sent to all of the CanAm 2012 team contacts. In case it
doesn't get to you here's the email:

It's back!!! The CanAm "Meet and Greet Gift Basket Exchange"! Last
year's basket exchange was such a hit- we're doing it again. This is a
great way for your club to meet clubs from other regions. Each
participating club would both give and receive a basket. We will assign
clubs to each other and let you know in advance to whom you are giving your
basket. What should you include? Use your creativity and imagination! It
can be a theme basket of items that are only found in your region, state or
province. It could be a snack basket for the people. Or, perhaps just
something for the dogs. It doesn't have to be extravagant, just something
fun you want to share. Don't have a basket? No worries, just put the items
in a gift bag.

If your club would like to be included in the meet and greet exchange please
email me at ally@..., by Friday, September 14, 2012. Your email
should include your club name, region and the number of people attending the
CanAm. I will let you know by Wednesday, September 19 what club you will be
gifting so that you can plan and make purchases for your basket/bag. I will
assign you a club, provide the club name and number of people attending the
CanAm. There will be no organized time for the gift exchange. Each club
will deliver their baskets at their own convenience. Let me know if you
have any questions. Have Fun!

2012 CanAm

Lee Heighton

Whew, well I think we have all finally caught our breath after the 2012 CanAm. I want to send out my personal thank you to everyone that helped make this such an outstanding event. The volunteers, judges and BoD members all came together as one cohesive unit to once again accomplish a feat (202 teams in one day) that has never been attempted before. I would especially like to thank each and every competitor that attended the 2012 CanAm. You are the ones that make this whole event possible.

Congratulations to all of the winners of their respective divisions. This years event provided some of the most exciting racing that we have ever seen.

We are already busy planning next years event and are incorporating feedback we received this past weekend. One major change is that we will be going back to the format used last year for the Championship races. The Multi Classic finals will be the first races which will conclude with the CanAm Multi championship. We will then run the Regular Classic finals which will conclude with the CanAm Regular championship.

The Bod is also currently discussing several options to shorten the racing day on Sunday with the possible addition of a seventh ring (can anyone say Purple). We are also looking at tweaking the optimizer program to make Saturday's racing a little less "intense" for Clubs that enter multiple teams. Please feel free to send me any suggestions that you feel will improve the event for next year.

Once again, thank you to everyone that made this such a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the 2013 NAFA CanAm Classic.

Lee Heighton
NAFA Executive Director

Election information

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

Nominations for the upcoming election for Board of Directors, Clyde Moore Hall of Fame, Judge of the Year, and Regional MVP have now been released.  There were a number of fine candidates for Hall of Fame and Judge of the Year.  The Board had the difficult task of narrowing those races to five finalists for voting.  Those finalists have now been selected.  Congratulations to all the nominees!   The nominess and bios are now availabe on the NAFA page - www.flyball.org.

Remember that this year will have the new calculations for club delegate votes.  The new calculations are listed in the rule book.  Clubs earn delegate votes for hosting per tournament day and for entering teams per tournament weekend.  And the maximum number of club votes has been increased.

Ballots should be distributed around December 1.  We will again do an online email and vote count verification process.  The online verification will open in a few weeks.  Election results will be announced at the Annual General Meeting January 26, 2013 at the Animal Inn tournament in Minneapolis, MN.

We're in the process of scheduling candidate chats for the Board of Director nominees.  The dates will be published on the NAFA page as soon as scheduled.

Election - ballot verification process

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

This year’s election will again be conducted electronically.  No ballots will be mailed.  All voters must have a valid email address on file with NAFA to receive a ballot.  Voters include:  club owners, regional directors, approved and supervising judges, and board members.

We are asking that all voters go through the confirmation process.  This will confirm that we have a valid email address.  The email you receive will also indicate how many votes you have earned for this election.  This year the new delegate vote count goes into effect for clubs.  Clubs earn votes for team entries on a per weekend basis and earn votes for hosting on a per day basis.  The maximum number of votes per club is now 15.  Please see the current rulebook at www.flyball.org for the specific vote allocations.  Vote allocations for service votes (Regional Directors, Approved & Supervising Judges, and Board members) has not changed.

If you do not go through the verification process, we’ll have to send your ballot to the email address we have on file.

Please note that this is a TWO step process:

Step 1 – go to www.nafaflyball.com/database/eballot_signup.php, input your name and email address.  Once you are found in the database, you’ll be sent a confirmation email.

Step 2 – after you receive the confirmation email, click on the link and make sure that your address has been verified.

If you have any trouble during the process, please send an email to elections@....  If you need to update your email address (we have a few voters who have no email address on file), please send an email to crn@...

Please complete the confirmation process by November 19, 2012.  We are hoping to have ballots sent out by December 3, 2012.  Voting will end January 24, 2013 and results will be announced at the Annual General Meeting on January 26, 2013 in Minneapolis, MN.

Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>

Just a reminder that we're asking voters (club owners, RDs, approved & supervising judges, and board members) to go through the email verification process no later than November 19.  The verification process allows us to make sure we have a valid email address for you - that's where your electronic ballot will be sent.  And it also allows you to verify that we have the correct vote calculation for you.

Ballots will be sent out electronically on approximately December 3, 2012.  The election will close at midnight central time zone on January 24, 2013.

If you have any trouble with the verification process, please send an email to elections@... or you can email me personally at workinglabs@....  Be sure to click on the link in the confirmation email to complete the 2nd step of the process.  That lets us know that you received the email verification.
