Kim Davis <kim.davis@...>
The three day tournament divisions are posted and you can check them out at
http://www.nafacanam.com Divisions for Friday and Saturday are posted for all classes of racing (Veterans/Open/Multibreed/Regular). Sunday's posted divisions are for Open & Veterans. The Sunday CanAm Regular, CanAm Multibreed and Classic Finals will be determined per the tourney format posted here: http://www.nafacanam.com/tourneyformat.html Seventy-six clubs have reserved spots for the three days of racing at a record-setting six-ring tourney! Plus, there are many other clubs being represented within the Open teams. That breaks down to 138 teams racing on Friday, 170 teams on Saturday and 164 on Sunday. What a ride this will be! Looking forward to seeing everyone in just 24 days ... The online FAQ has been updated. Visit http://www.nafacanam.com/faqs.html for the latest entries. Volunteers are still needed for line and box judging. Check out the existing schedule, http://www.nafacanam.com/volunteer-sched.html and send us a note if you can 'sit a spell' and help us out! And don't forget - we're going for a NEW Guinness World Record on Saturday! Plan on staying after racing, as we find out if we make our 500 dog record! Plus - there are other surprises on the agenda! Canadian payment options
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
Sent from my BlackBerry® From: "Nancy Garcia" <nancykgarcia@...>
Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2010 20:15:10 -0500 To: Dana Nichols<workinglabs@...> Subject: Please post on NAFA News NEW PAYMENT OPTION FOR CANADIAN
CLUBS
NAFA is pleased to announce that we have now have
implemented the INTERAC Email Money Transfer system with our TD Canada Bank CAD
funds account.
Should you wish to pay your tournament fees,
CanAm entry fees, or any other sort of payments to NAFA you can send the money
from your bank's INTERAC Email Money Transfer system to paynafaca@.... Of course
old fashion checks are always still accepted!
PLEASE be sure and note in the comments section
what the payment represents (i.e. tournament entry fee, new club payment, CanAm
Entry fee) and the club name or individual's name that is sending the
money. All paperwork will still need to be send to Karen
Oleson for processing.
Should you wish to pay your CanAm entries
electronically, go ahead and use the on-line entry form and just
indicate that you will be sending a check. Once I receive your
email money transfer I will notify Karen that you have sent the money
electronically.
You should send a message to the same
email address, paynafaca@...,
notifying us of the answer to your security question. Or if you ask
something where the answer is very obvious, like "Name of 20,000 point
Award" then there is no need to send a follow-up email.
If you have any questions, send me a note to
this new payment email address and I will answer as soon as
possible.

CanAm closes in 1 week
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
Don’t forget entries close for CanAm next Friday, August 20, 2010.
Kim updated the crating map this morning. For more information, including online entry information, see the CanAm web page at www.nafacanam.com There is also updated information on the sponsors & vendors for this year.
And, don’t forget, we’re trying to break the record! Make your dog part of a World Record-Setting Team!
By special arrangement with Guinness World Records™, NAFA will attempt to set a world record in the newly established category “Largest Flyball Tournament.” In order for the record to be set, at least 500 dogs will need to participate in the tournament on Saturday, October 9th. Be there when the ultimate authority on record-breaking achievement recognizes not only the sport of flyball, but the enthusiasm of the dogs and people who play it. -------------------------------------------------- Dana Nichols, Secretary North American Flyball Association, Inc.® workinglabs@... --------------------------------------------------

updates to highlights
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
There were a couple of items that I forgot to add to the highlights. I’ve sent a revised document for posting on the web page, but in the meantime, here is the information:
Budget:
· The Board passed an operating budget for FY 2011 showing a projected positive income. The CanAm event numbers are budgeted separately. · Nancy presented the proposed budget for CanAm, which shows a break even position. The Board accepted the proposed budget.
Region 6/16 realignment:
· Lee presented a proposed regional realignment for regions 6 and 16. The plan would divide the regions along north/south lines, with northern California and northern Nevada and Utah comprising region 16 and the southern parts of these states and Arizona comprising region 6. A map will be circulated on regional lists and comments gathered.

highlights from 8/7/10 BoD meeting
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
The highlights from the August 7, 2010 Board meeting are now posted on the NAFA® web page. http://www.flyball.org/minutes/0807BODmtg-Highlights.pdf We try to get the highlights out as soon as possible, but it usually take a few days as we’d like to notify people individually of the results of proposals, nominations, etc. The highlights include nominees for MVP, ED & the Board of Directors, as well as the five finalists for Hall of Fame and Judge of the Year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
The minutes will be posted in a few weeks. This meeting was a long one – about 13 hours with eating lunch there. So, it will take a while for me to draft them into final form & then it takes some time for the minutes to go through the approval process. I’ll send a notification once they are posted. Thanks for your patience!

agenda and rules recommendations
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
The Agenda for the August 7, 2010 meeting has been posted. Included with it now are the Rules Committee recommendations (same document, just after the agenda itself). For the May meeting we tried a new format where we posted the Rules Committee recommendations ahead of time to give people the opportunity to provide comments before the Board considered the issues at the meeting. We're adopting that same format again for this meeting. Here is the link: http://www.flyball.org/news_board.html It also includes the email link to provide comments. I'll compile all the comments received and distribute them to the Board before the meeting. --------------------------------------------------

proposed revisions to bylaws & articles of incorporation
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
The proposed changes to the bylaws and articles of incorporation are now posted on the NAFA web page. These will be considered by the Board at the August 7, 2010 Board meeting. If you have any comments, you may send them directly to the Board members or Chair or send an email through the contact us form and direct it to the Rules Committee.
http://www.flyball.org/news_board.html Here is some additional information about the review that is posted on the NAFA site:
NAFA is a nonprofit Michigan directorship entity. As its corporate documents hadn’t been reviewed for many years, we hired Jane Forbes, who is with Michigan law firm of Dykema and serves as co-chair of the State Bar of Michigan Nonprofit Corporations Committee, to review NAFA’s articles of incorporation and bylaws to make sure they comply with the most current Michigan statutes and to bring them into the 21st century, legally and practically. The attached proposed revisions to the articles of incorporation and bylaws are the product of that work.

Electricity Availability at CanAm
Dana Nichols <workinglabs@...>
One of the great advantages of moving CanAm to the larger West Pavilion, besides having more space, is that there are ample electricity plugs available for our competitors. If you look at the drawing of the overall space at the top of the crating link (attached for your convenience) on the CanAm site you will see a series of dots throughout the building. Those dot represent poles and each pole has multiple electrical outlets.
We wanted to share this information with you as it may or may not influence your choice of crating areas.
