Possible BUG in ACLog's CAT and APT frequency/mode sequence[Flex Users].

Scott Davis

Hi Ken, Dave and ALL Flex users,

As Ken requested, I have altered the order of the commands to change Frequency before Mode (specifically for the Flex API selection - no other rig selections are affected).  Please give AC Log 6.9.3 Beta a try and see if that remedies what Ken has described.  I would like to hear from a number of Flex users that all is okay before moving from Beta on this.

Please let me know how you make out!

Hi Ken,

I just took a quick look and there may be a way I can reverse the order, specific to the Flex API option.  I am neck deep in other areas of code at the moment, but I will try to work something up for you to test in the next few days.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, actually, I used to send frequency first and then mode second, but MANY rigs change frequency when you select the opposite sideband, which took them off the intended frequency.  I was able to remedy that by sending mode first.  If there were a way to make that rig specific I would be happy to, but unfortunately that logic is consolidated well before the specific rig is identified.

I'm sorry that it doesn't work favorably for your particular rig.

Enjoy!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] Possible BUG in ACLog's CAT and APT frequency/mode sequence.

I have been tracing an issue with using ACLog with my Flex-6000 Series.
If I start on a band, say 40 LSB, and click on a spot for 20 USB, and then return to 40 Meters using the Band-Change Buttons in SmartSDR, the radio changes frequency to 40 Meters, but the Mode stays at USB.
I think I have traced the issue to this:

ACLog is sending the MODE change command first, and then the Frequency change command.
This is changing the MODE on 40 Meters before it changes the band to 20 Meters.
The mode change, having been applied to 40 Meters before the frequency was changed, is being remembered by the Band Persistence register and is not being returned to LSB on 40 Meters.
Would it be possible to send the Frequency change first, followed by the Mode change command in order to avoid this scenario?
Thanks!

Here is a section of my CAT LOG.
I have put >> and Bold face on the two commands in question.  (the rest are the simple periodic polling)

Thanks, Scott,
I just tried it.  Using the Flex API it works correctly.

I can confirm on my Flex 6600m using the API that band changing now works fine.

Thanks Scott!
