Strange Things on CQWW CW Log.

Hello everyone,

I have been using the CQ WW contest logging software for 4-5 years without any problems.

I was in the CQ WW CW DX Contest over the weekend.

This mysterious occurrence happened many times, BUT ONLY on Saturday afternoon.   I don't know what caused it, and what happened so that it didn't happen on Sunday.   I didn't do anything, at least on purpose.  Maybe I did something to solve it and didn't realize it it.

The attached two info boxes began to appear frequently during the contes on Saturdayt.  I don't why.   I would either x them out or choose OK.   Sometimes four boxes would apprear layered at the same time.  It was a major distraction from my contest activity to have to clean the screen,

Cleaning the boxes from the screen OFTEN but  not always resulted in all of the QSO data disappearing from the screen, resulting in the empty contest shell EXCEPT for the QSO Points data.  That's another mystery.

I would X out of the logging sceen.  Then call up the Contest Log that had the QSO data, thankfully it was not erased.

Sometimes the boxes would appear when I was working on something else, such as checking on the cluster spots.

This went on all day on Saturday.   I can't have this happening again.

What caused it?

If it happens again, what is the fix?

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you ran into trouble.  Those errors occur when a database is corrupted or inaccessible.  They don't typically just go away and the fact that these did, indicates something external to the software is at play.  Either RF in the shack or an intervening Internet protection software program are two possibilities.

If a file ever truly becomes corrupted, you can click File > Save As and enter a new file name to create a brand new one.

Enjoy!
