Winkeyer w/RemoteRig RRC Query

Dennis - WU6X

Was using N3FJP and the WinKeyer connected directly to the radio, paddle to the WinKeyer and USB cable connected to the WinKeyer. New setup here uses a RemoteRig control box (RRC) instead of a radio in the shack ... controlling a remote base station.

Configuration looks like this:

* Computer to WinKeyer USB  --> Paddle connected to WinKeyer --> WinKeyer connected to RemoteRig RRC paddle input

All settings I've tried on all three configurable software (N3FJP, RemoteRig or WinKeyer) produces a "squeeze key" type response from the RRC; continuous dit-dah, dit-dah, etc.

Anyone using this configuration? PS: The paddle connected directly to the RRC works perfectly!

What is shift-ctrl-g supposed to do?

Thanks for the quick response Scott. At least now I know I'm not loosing my mind. It's no big deal and you did a great job rushing this nice piece of software to your user base.

So glad I'm a N3FJP customer!

Re: HPM150 and Busted Calls

Bob Wilson

Duh, just realized I could have easily (and safely!) fixed this by rt-clicking the call entry in the log, clicking More, and then editing the Points field. Maybe this will help someone else.

Re: HPM150 and Busted Calls

Bob Wilson

OK, I fixed it by going into the database and changing fldPoints from 1 to 2 for the QSOs in question. Is there an easier way?

HPM150 and Busted Calls

Bob Wilson

In the heat of running, I typo'd two calls - one I logged as /1150 and the other as /250. After correcting my typos the score didn't change (a /150 should be 2 points). How do I fix this? I have a licensed copy of MS Access if that helps.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the report.  You haven't overlooked anything, the error is mine.  With the HPM software, enter will send the F3 CW string as usual, but tab does not send the F2 CW string.

This is one of the reasons I am extremely reluctant to attempt to support a new contest with a tight time notification window.  There are just too many things that can fall through the cracks.

Thanks again for the report.  If ARRL decides to make this an annual event, it's all corrected for next time.

I really like  the shift-ctrl-g feature found in most of Scott's contesting software. However it doesn't seem to work with the Hiram Percy Contest Log 1.0 I'm sure I'm overlooking something simple.

Re: ACL and LoTW

Thank you Scott, this was simply operator error (PEBKAC) on my part. When downloading data from LoTW I always selected "Download confirmed since..." instead of "Download all since ..." meaning that unconfirmed QSOs never got marked as uploaded and I would always try to upload them again. Your help video on LoTW helped solve my problem.

I have observed some puzzling behavior when trying to upload from
Amateur Contact Log to LoTW. I select eLogs/LoTW/upload contacts not
already uploaded. TQSL is started and I supply my certificate password
and the QSOs are uploaded. During the next hour or so I will work
another 6 stations. Once again I will select eLogs/LoTW/upload contacts
not already uploaded. TQSL will warn me that I am trying to upload 30
duplicate contacts and 6 new contacts. I will be presented 3 buttons
asking me what to do. I can upload duplicate contacts, I can only upload
the new contacts or cancel and not upload anything.

Why is ACL attempting to upload contacts that have already been
uploaded?

Hi Guys,

I just heard from Dave, W1HKJ, the author of FLDigi on this. Dave writes:

"Fldigi was not modified to support HPM/N3FJP logger.  Simply too much work for a one-off event."

I totally understand.  There is a lot more going on under the hood than anyone who hasn't peaked below can fully appreciate.  I am very thankful for all the N3FJP Software Dave does support.

Just FYI, I am having the same issue with N3FJP HPM + Fldigi with N3FJP as rig control as Lee is having.  I tried with other N3FJP Contest software and don't have any problems, but with the HPM program it looks like everything is communicating but not confirmed (the "Connected" diamond is not lighting up).  Lee did post the the Fldigi group, but still waiting for a reply.

Thanks,

Andy

Hey Jack! The league hasn't published any suggested operating frequencies that I'm aware of. It probably would have been a good idea, but maybe they were afraid that some obscure net would complain they were advocating people QRM them. Yesterday I worked a Canadian multiplier way up on 14.340! About the only place I haven't heard HPM activity is in the Extra-class cw sub-band. I've had good luck operating in the General portion.

I would say ditch the rig control. Run the radio manually and start making contacts!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I will give that some thought for the future.

You can always click View > Country List and then click the header to sort by country and see all the prefixes and other info for that country.

Thanks again!

Enjoy!

When I select a Country from the pull down menu and then click on Country name. I get a nice summary of  DX for that country. But I would also like to know the PREFIX of that Country in that Window. Could you add the PREFIX just to the right of the Country name at the top of the window? Maybe Short/Long path too? I'm trying minimize keystrokes and I think those two additions would help us Dxer's.

Re: Contest Log

Hi Larry,

Thanks for your e-mail.  With all the other commitments I already have on my plate, the World Wide Digi Contest sponsors didn't announce their contest with sufficient lead time for me to support their 2019 event. Lord willing, I do plan to support it next year.

I'd like to operate X contest. The exchange is X. Which program should I use?

Probably should have tested this b4, but.. Anyway, I open the FJP HPM Log, set it up correctly, API server on. Start FLDigi, choose n3fjp logging, click connect. Yellow diamodn does not light, but this is in data stream:

RCVD:
<CMD><PROGRAMRESPONSE><PGM>N3FJP's Hiram P. Maxim Contest Log</PGM><VER>1.0</VER><APIVER>1.5</APIVER></CMD><crlf>
SEND:
<CMD><PROGRAM></CMD>SEND:
<CMD><PROGRAM></CMD>RCVD

Over and over again. When I try to choose the contest in FLDigi, I pull down the menu, choose a contest, and it stays there for a second then reverts back to NO CONTEST. When I do an exchange and <LOG>, it logs to the FLDigi log, but not to N3FJP.

What am I missing here? Sorry I waited so long, Scott...
