Thanks Mike.  Installation on multiple computers was what I was trying to avoid.  I was hoping there was a "Portable App" technique for the software.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Windows won't allow multiple applications to share the same com port.

I've not experimented with port sharing software so I don't have any advice to add myself, but others may have some suggestions for you there.

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] ACLog JTDX JTAlert w/ K3

Scott,

I have ACLog, running with JTDX, running with JTAlert, connected to a K3.  The K3 has the upgraded interface/internal soundcard, KIO3B/ KXV3B.

The KIO3B uses a single USB cable to connect the computer (through a virtual COM port, in in my case COM6) to the K3 for Rig Interface and Soundcard functions.  CW keying is done through a WKMini assigned to virtual COM7.

This all works great together, except if I have JTDX running too.  The rig interface functions conflicts with the two programs, JTDX and ACLog, running at the same time.  I get a COM6 conflict error message in ACLog, which I click OK and it allows me to use JTDX and JTAlert with no issues.  However, if I want to switch to CW, I have to close JTDX, JTAlert, ACLog and only restart ACLog, then I have to go into the WinKey set-up and open the WinKey, COM7.

This is cumbersome to say the least.  Is there a way to resolve these conflict issues with the Rig Interface functions and keep all the programs running at the same time?

I just configured ACL for WWFF-KFF but I also want to use the program for "normal" stuff. To do that I need more room on the screen.
I really don't need to see my last 50 contacts, is there a way to resize that portion of the screen?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your follow up.  Details are in the CW setup text narrative on the CW setup form as follows:

To enable the Tab Sends Message (TSM) option, press Ctrl + Shift + G from the main form.  With TSM enabled, when you tab from the Call field, the F2 string will be sent.  When you press enter, the F3 string will be sent.

Enjoy!

Maybe I'm having an old age moment. I still don't get it. Are we talking about the messages stored under the F-Keys? If so I have never used shift-cntl-g. I just hit an F-Key and the message is sent. If it's something else can you please explain.

Re: Operator field in AC Log

Per the ADIF spec, OPERATOR is "the logging operator's callsign", and further "if OWNER_CALLSIGN is absent, STATION_CALLSIGN shall be treated as both the logging station's callsign and the callsign of the owner of the station".

Is this just a personal preference thing or is there actually a right and wrong way, what must be in that operator field?

Re: Operator field in AC Log

Hi Nickus,

Thanks for your e-mail.  While either is fine in AC Log, some services, such as QRZ will reject the QSO record if it doesn't see a valid call sign in the Operator field (even though it will accept it fine if there is no value at all in that field).

Enjoy!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] WAE DX QTC questions

Ok guys I’m going to make an effort for the first time this weekend in the WAE DX contest. I have the contest program all set and understand the whole QTC exchange protocol, etc.
My question(s) here is, as I really can’t play around with the program without a bunch of logs, when you want to send a QTC exchange, the cute little window pops up and you punch in the stuff..... So, as I see (and it’s not contest time) I’m assuming the rec QTC icon will show solid and I can record incoming traffic once the logging is in progress???
Since the N3FJP software is THE BEST, I am again assuming the relayed and recorded QTCs will also show dupes and keep a standing record, like a normal logged QSO?
Sorry if this is a bit aloof, just wanna get a feel for how things work before the show. Thanks for any and all info.

Re: All N3FJP Software - Does not detect Kenwood TS-590SG Data Mode

Thanks for the report Tim.  You would still likely want to disable the mode return, as your mode would actually be FT8, RTTY, PSK31, etc., but I will give that some thought for the future.

Thanks again!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] All N3FJP Software - Does not detect Kenwood TS-590SG Data Mode

I noticed this issue this weekend with the HPM Contest.  Had the rig interface on, and had "Mode Determined By" Rig selected,
The software would stay selected as "Phone" when I turned "Data" on in my rig.  This was the same using either the Kenwood or the
Kenwood2 rig selections.  This was a problem because I was manually logging RTTY QSOs and I could not force the software into Digital.  Instead, I had to turn off the rig interface by selecting "none".

and you must be reading the mode using the MD command.   What you need to also read is the DA command to see if the Data Mode
is turned on in addition to the USB or LSB.

that will fix it!

Thanks & 73,
