Re: Winkey mini Speed control issues

Scott Davis

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for your e-mail.  The up and down arrow keys from the main form should control your Winkeyer Mini's speed.  Make sure the main form has focus, that the software is in CW mode and that your keyboard arrow keys are mapped conventionally,  As you tap the arrow key, you should briefly see a yellow box appear and display the speed as in increments up and down.  If you are not seeing that box, the software is not getting the command from your arrow keys.

Enjoy!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] Winkey mini Speed control issues

Got the WKmini today and am using it with AC Log. I can go into the setup and get everything working and control the speed with the up/down arrow keys on the keyboard but when I exit the program it seems to revert to sending at 30wpm ( not surprised as it’s not designed to work stand alone w/o a host app). However, when I then open AC log again it continues to send at 30wpm and the up and down arrow keys no longer control the speed, I have to go back into the setup and use the software buttons to turn the speed up or down, then hit test at which point it will send at the selected speed. After closing out the setup screen the up/down arrow keys on keyboard once again will change the speed, what am I missing?

Re: ACL - no export for Cabrillo?

Larry Banks

Hi Roy,

First, why don’t you all use the FD software.

Also – you do not need a Cabrillo File.  A Dupe Sheet is sufficient, which you can generate from ACLog.  ACLog does not generate a Cabrillo as it is not contesting SW.  It does not have all of the info a Cabrillo requires.

Scott, Our club Field Day chairman has asked members, working from home on Field Day, to send him their log file from their home logging software, as a Cabrillo file.

I am a bit surprised to find that Amateur Contact Log only has an ADI export. I know your Field Day software has a Cabrillo export feature.

Am I missing something in ACL, or, well what's your reasoning for not including it? I'm sure you have a good reason!

And yes, to others responding, I do see lots of ADI to Cabrillo format programs on the web - that's not my question!!!

Thanks, 73, Roy

Hi Roy,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Instead of AC Log, this is the program that you should be using for Field Day:

Re: ACL now locks up after logging a few contacts

Hi Guys,

At worse case, on a REALLY slow machine over a network, it should not take more than 100 milliseconds to complete the logging sequence.  Saving to a local drive will be much faster than that.

Something is interfering with the software's access to your hard drive.

I don't think it's your PC.  You have a rocket ship compared to my horse and wagon and I didn't make any changes to my anti-virus program (TotalAV) so I doubt it's that, either.  I'd also get the message that the previous QSO wasn't logged.  I'd log it manually before rebooting.  I wish I had a definitive answer but that problem just went away and I didn't make any changes at all.  We do have rapid QSOs in common.  What if you just do a fresh reboot and log one fictitious QSO and then stop for 5 minutes?  See if the next entry logs without that message.  When this happened to me I had a huge pileup and I was having trouble keeping up with all the stations calling.  Since I had the issue about a week or two ago I've probably made over 1,000 QSOs w/o the message so it's not as if I just made a couple of entries. Yesterday I downloaded the new versions of WSJT-X and JT ALert and all is still OK.

Good luck!

Conquering the fldigi/N3FJP logging procedure has been tough, but I'm making progress!
As Dave improves the program I get confused and then figure it out.
Using SERNO instead of COUNTER made things easier.
I found the SERNO is LOCKED to the logger, Messing with it drove me crazy.

I have had that happen recently.  It wasn't my anti-virus program.  I rebooted the PC a few times and it stopped occurring.  I wish I had a better answer. I do recall I was working stations one after another.  I thought it might have to do with the speed of the QSOs. It hasn't happened since.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you've run into trouble.  I've not ever experienced that here or received and similar reports.  My only guess is that your Internet protection software is clamping down on the software.   Giving the programs the proper permissions in your protection software should remedy that.

I hope that this helps!

Enjoy!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] ACL now locks up after logging a few contacts

My setup worked fine for over a year.  Now all of a sudden ACL will lock up after logging about 5 to 10 contacts.  It will not log the last contact and gives me the message "I wasn't ready to log this contact because I was still attempting to save the previous entry or performing another process. Please try again."

All the information for the current contact is filled in but ACL is just locked up.  It will not respond to any commands, not even to close it.  I have to launch Task Manager and force it to shut down.

My setup is an Icom IC-7300, WSJT-X newest RC3, JTAlert and ACL. I start ACL first, then WSJT-X and then JTAlert just as I always have.  Everything is great for about 5 to 10 log entries and then the lock up. I have to write all the last contact info down and then enter it when I start ACL back up. I am running Windows 10 that is up to date (that might be the problem).

I checked the FAQ's and past post and did not see my problem.  ACL uses port 1100 and I checked and that is the only thing listed for that port.

Please advise, 73, Ray AA4EZ

Typical Win 10 response to new software. Happens every time I upgrade files for JT Alert. I have to “trust”in Norton 360, then hit Run anyway in Windows.

Thanks for your follow up.  When uploading directly from TQSL, you will need to have TQSL sign the ADIF file before TQSL will upload it.

Thanks - but the same result.

The LOCATION was set to NFL, the only choice from the drop-down list. So I could not change it.
I had AClog export a single QSO as an adi file and then attempted to upload that file using
the TQSL application itself. The error message is shown below and seems to indicate a problem
with the file format.

File WPX Test.adi does not appear to be a TrustedQSL file!

Any ideas??

Thanks!
