Re: Start AC with rig control disabled?

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, if you close AC Log with None selected on the rig interface form, next time you start it, it will start up fine without attempting to connect to any rig.

Enjoy!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] Start AC with rig control disabled?

I have AC working great with Win4Icom, WSJT-X, and com0com.  My problem is that when I come back to the house from the park and try to use AC without a rig or the other programs, AC hangs when exiting and I have to kill it from the task manager. I hesitate to do this with a database program.

I realize that is isn't a problem with AC. It's a problem with the virtual ports that com0com creates. I found other messages here with people having a similar problem.

My question is, can I start AC somehow WITHOUT the rig control being active? I thought perhaps I could create a batch file that swapped in a different configuration file before launching AC, but I could not find a config file with USB port information in it.

Any ideas?

Re: Windows Updated my Computer No logs after that...

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry to hear your Windows update went awry.

Actually, AC Log doesn't save anything to the Windows registry.  To see where you settings files are saved, click File > Show File Locations.  Then make sure your Windows / Internet protection software is allowing AC Log the proper permissions to save your data and settings.

That will do the trick.

Enjoy!

After the latest Windows update I opened up ACLog and 1, it didn't open up on the correct screen, 2 There was no data in the log, 3 I had a backup for it and retrieved my iogged calls.  4, Now everytime I open the log it diverts back to sequential numbers and doesn't remember my last sort option which is newest date.  Obviously the registry lost the settings when the update occurred but for some reason its not remembering its last settings.  Any Help???

PS, I also had to reenter all log credentials for elogs so I know it is registry related.

Re: Log Display/Search

Mike Olbrisch

Really easy.

#1 - type the call in the call field and hit TAB.  The list display will show you the previous contacts.

#2 - click on the FIND button, and enter even a partial call, and it will find any calls that contain your search string.

There are two options that I need but do not seem to find a solution for.

I would like the display of the log to be displayed all of the time.  I find it difficult to see if I have worked stations calling CQ if I cannot see them.  I guess that means, not seeing the QRZ photo displayed when a station is called.

The other feature I would like to know how to use, is how to search the log.  Seems to me a simple one key, like maybe an Fkey to open up a search field.

Thanks for the help.

I selected CW mode for the F keys and I do not have a f key lock key on my microsoft key board. The F keys do not respond. I have restarted the computer and program several times with no positive results. I would appreciate any ideas to possibly solve my issue with the f keys which outside my logging program.

Re: CABRILLO FILES

AI3KS

Ric,

Not sure what contest you need to generate, but each is different. For example, you can't use the TX QSO party software to generate a cabrillo file for the SC QSO Party.

You may want to look here:

http://www.b4h.net/cabforms/

I have not used the site personally, but it allows you to manually enter QSOs and generate the appropriate file for the contest.

Hope this helps.

Don't know if anyone will find this useful, it's helped a few hams already, however,
Here's a doc I wrote a bit ago to help set up ACL, WSJT-X and a SignaLink for Digital.

If anyone needs me to add in JTAlert, just let me know I'm more then willing to add/modify the document.

I wrote up a doc a year or so ago, that has a pretty good walk through on how to set up ACL, WSJT-X, and JTAlert, just skip to Step 7, the first 6 Steps are for setting up a KX3 to use with all of this

Re: ACLog popping error when JTALert tries to Log Contact

This maybe a stupid question, however, why are you not just doing a file share instead of trying to use UDP which is not the best protocol to send data with?

Hi Gene,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you have run into trouble.  Are you saying that after you click Settings > Rig Interface, the list of rig choices is not showing on the left of the form that appears, or that you are not seeing the rig interface form at all?

Re: Presentation Help

Steve, KC5F

You should be able to download the video to your computer.  On YouTube, on my phone there's a "Share" icon, and one of the options is to "Save as".  I think it's even easier on a computer, and have done it for presentations where I wasn't sure about internet access.

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] My Location Issue

I've been using this program for several months now and love it. My only issue is saving my location in the setup screen. I've tried every combination I can think of when I put in my grid coordinates and it's never correct when I log a contact. A fellow ham lives less than 5 miles from me and when I input his call sign it shows a bearing that close to right but the distance is off by thousands of miles. What am I doing wrong?
