MULTIPLE LOGS

Phil Whitchurch <phil@...>

Hi there

I am a potential new user and established QSL manager.  I have been searching for an alternative to the Win-EQFlogging program that I have been using for over 25 years but which is no lomnger supported and does not work well under Windows 10.

I have downloaded and installed a trial version of AClog and at first sight, it seems to meet my requirements but I am not sure if I can import more than one ADI file.  I have something approaching 150 different log files for various DX callsigns that I need to be able to import and manage independently.

Can this be achieved please?

73 for now and TIA.

Hi Scott,

I had suggested an enhancement to list QSOs with unconfirmed grids in a future version. I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but perhaps zone and continent would be nice too.

Especially in WSJT-X, alerts can be set up for these conditions, and of course there are ARRL awards (VUCC, WAZ) for those also.

Thanks for considering.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you've run into trouble.  Your Internet protection software is not allowing the program access to the file.  Giving the program the proper permissions in your protection software will correct that.

Enjoy!

I made a quick video of a single contact, from his call, my reply, seeing the spot, and ACLog bringing up LoTW to log it. https://vimeo.com/448186123

ACLog just sits quietly waiting to do its job, just like always, but when the time comes, it leaps into action and ties up all the loose ends :)

Hi Scott,

I will. But I'll tell you ahead of time it won't be very complex. Here is a snippet of what you see under "Logging"

You just click the green button 'on'.

I'll put something a little more comprehensive together in the next week or so!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the great information!  I'm not familiar with GridTracker.  If you get the chance, I would really appreciate a screen shot of the settings for interfacing with my software and a few words along the lines of the information presented for other programs here:

I totally understand if you don't have time, but if you do, that would be great!

Thanks again!

For anyone who is using MSHV (instead of JTDX or WSJT or others), as I do, it turns out that the GridTracker program provides an excellent and invisible interface between MSHV and the N3FJP software, as designed.
I first started using it for the meteor shower this past week, but it also works just fine for every-day FT8 and FT4 contacts as well. Previously I have been exporting ADIFs and reading them in to ACL, which is a little tedious but it works, and now with this interface, I make the contact and ACL not only logs it but also real-time uploads to LoTW and the other neat things that it does.

So if you are using MSHV and ACL, this is a great solution to getting them to talk together. Once you set it up, with the default port numbers etc., you never need to touch it again, and it "just works."

Until the other station confirms the contact, it won't show in your awards count.  Also, for WAS it must be confirmed via LOTW or paper QSL Card or ARRL won't accept it.  I don't know if the logic in ACL makes that differentiation.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, I needed to add emphasis to All Since by making it the top button, since too many folks click Confirmed Since and then wonder why all their contacts aren't marked as Sent.

Scott,

I downloaded the beta version of AC Log about a week ago and it seems you've changed the position order of the LoTW "All Since" and "Confirmed Since" boxes or tabs.  In previous versions of AC Log, the "Confirmed Since" box with a given date was right under the big bold "Download" menu header. The second box down in that column was typically the "All Since" box with the selected date.  You then have the "All Confirmed" and "All Data" boxes or tabs in their normal places. Was this change of position intentional?

I ask because I enable automatic uploads to LoTW and when an operating session has ended I always go to "eLogs" and then "LoTW" and I then click on the "All Since" box so that each QSO has an "L" in the sent column to insure my QSOs were uploaded properly to LoTW.  I've been using your software for so long that I select the "All Since" box's position by rote memory.  For the past couple of days, I couldn't figure out why my QSL sent column wasn't being populated with an "L". I finally used my backup PC, which doesn't have the beta version, and I noticed the boxes had been repositioned.

If this was unintentional can you please put those "All Since" and "Confirmed Since" tabs back in the positions they've been for years?  If this is an intentional change can you say why you felt a change in position was needed?  This may seem like a trivial issue but it had me perplexed for several days.

Thanks and very 73,

Chris  NU1O

Hi Chris,

I noticed this change right away and completely agree with it.  I have already change my “muscle memory” to compensate so I would hope it would not change back,  Note that it makes sense as you want to start with the top box each time.  Check the info pop-up notes. which go a long way to explain how LoTW works for hams new to ACLog.

Hi Deni,

Thanks for your e-mail.  You'll need to initiate the upload of any QSOs to LoTW from AC Log's LoTW form that you added via ADIF, (as well as any manually entered if you don't have the automatic upload on entry option enabled).  Lots more details are here:

You can go direct to your LoTW and eQSL accounts and verify if they have been uploaded before you do anything drastic like starting over with ACL.

Additionally last evening I was notified that some of the logging had not happened and that the WSJT log would still have it.  Being a good boy I imported the wsjtx log.  I do not know if the ones not recorded in ACL were picked up and forwarded to eqsl and lotW.

Also I might like to say that I am very confused by the logging. Looking at rewards I only have 5 states to go for WAS, however I have worked those 5 many times.

What I would like to do is remove all entries from ACL and then import the wxjtx log again and just start over.

Suggestions?
