Call Sign Question N4MNC

Carl Batchelder <carlbatchny@...>

I just bought AC Log, and it didn't like the call sign I entered.   I've had this call sign for a month, and it show on the FCC site, and my QRZ login with that call sign works.  What "behind-the-scenes" check is failing for this?

Thanks; leaving the deleted entities intact is what I needed to know.

Scott, Com Port driver working ok.  Replaced the USB cabe and that solved the problem.

Thanks,  Steve, KZ7SMC

Hi Bert,

Thanks for your follow up.  Deleted countries are not renamed.  The ADIF export / import process to change your country names, described previously, addresses country name changes where the entity remains, such as Cocos-Keeling Is. changed to Cocos (Keeling) Is., etc.

You'll find Jim's documentation here:

Enjoy!

When you say "update your country names," do you mean make the call's entity name match the name of the entity as it is now or as it was of the time of the contact? The entity name really needs to be the name of the entity at the time the contact was made. A contact with "Czechoslovakia" isn't a contact with "Czech Republic" or "Slovak Republic" although it's still valid for ARRL awards if the contact was made before 1993.

LOTW gets the call/entity name right based on the time of contact, and so should ACLOG's "Awards" calculator.

Again, does the AD1C country list account for entity name changes over time?

Re: Telnet problem

Hi Noel,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Make sure you don't have any filters enabled (More Filtering from the DX Spotting set up form).  Also make sure that you are on a band where spots are currently being posted.

Lots more details on how the band map works are here:

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you've run into trouble.  You may need a new com port driver to support your com port on Windows 10.  Check Device Manager and see if the com port is working properly.

I hope this helps!

I am using an FT-991A with ACL software. I recently upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7.  I did have ACL working correctly.  Now for some reason the computer does not poll the radio as quickly as it should, it just sits there with Awaiting Response showing.  The Command to Read Frequency is FA; and the command to Read Mode is MDO;  The Change Frequency Command does work and changes the frequency on the radio.  All of the Rig Interface settings are the same as when polling was working correctly.

Anyone have ideas on what may be wrong?

Many thanks.

Steve, KZ7SMC

Once in a while, I want to see someone’s QRZ.com page. I tried using the ACL QRZ.com feature, but the pop-ups just kind of took over after a few QSOs. I looked around in the tutorials and couldn’t find anything that mentions what I would like to do, which is this:

Click on a log entry and have QRZ pop-up with the QRZ page of the station I clicked.

Does that feature, or something similarly simple, exist in ACL?

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your follow up.  I'm not a heavy QRZ user, so I really don't know how they handle their confirmations.  It is possible someone else on the group will have more advice for you there.

Hi Scott nice to meet you.  As mentioned in the original post I have no trouble with moving the file from N3FJP to QRZ
"Of course, another alternative is to easily upload your log to QRZ by clicking File > Export ADIF, exporting the records you want to send to QRZ and then uploading from QRZ." (http://www.n3fjp.com/faq.html#q85But my confirmations are not moving with it.
Now that LOTW and QRZ are friends again, and their integration is working, my question becomes more curiosity than need.

Hi Bert,

Thanks for your e-mail.  To update your country names in AC Log for name changes, please do the following:

-  Backup your log.
-  Click File > Export ADIF > Whole Log
-  Click File > Reset Counter and enter 0.
-  Click File > Import ADIF and select the file that you exported.

Enjoy!

Does the AD1C country list account for entity name changes over time? Using today's mapping of call to entity will give you an incorrect name for old contacts.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your e-mail.  That option is under the Rig Polling Rate options, to the right and is set automatically when you select your rig from the rig list.

In the following in instructions, what is meant by Convert To Hex = False"
I don't know where to verify or to change this setting.

Kenwood TS 590
Rig Name = Kenwood2
Read Frequency Command = IF;
Read Mode Command =
Convert To Hex = False
Baud Rate = 9600 (some users report 115200)
Parity = None
Stop Bits = 1
Data Bits = 8
Power Option = RTS

Thanks yet again

Re: ACLOG LoTW Authentication

Steve <steve@...>

Hey Scott

Thanks for the reply and support, I have isolated the issue to browser related. When closed (Opera or Edge) both upload real time and download on demand are working as they should in ACLog.

Something corrupt buried down deep in Windows, I did all the obvious i.e. flushing cache, history, ui/pw, etc.

Anyway, nothing wrong on your end from what I can tell. I’ll advise the group if I can get this figured out.

Steve, QRZ.com can’t download from LoTW and have now posted that info on your Settings window. I can upload with DXKeeper and my ACLog downloaded successfully yesterday. I’d guess LoTW has a glitch to work out.   My intent was just to let you know, you are not the only one with LoTW issues.

Good Morning
Yesterday starting around 2000z, I noticed my auto upload was not working from AC Log to LoTW.
I verified LoTW was up and manually uploaded an adif via TQSL with no issues. Problem has been
intermittent since. Close and reopen ACLOG usually allows for a few auto upload QSO's and then stops again. Problem is also affecting downloading LoTW to ACLOG.
Windows 10 Current Update
TQSL 2.5.1
ACLOG 6.6
Any thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
