They are all at the other end of the band participating in the contest.  I’ve been trying off and on to participate but I’m starting to detest SSB contests more and more.  I have a big problem tuning SSB in.  I’ll try to hit them low, hit them high, hit them on frequency and I have a difficult time tuning them in.  They all sound like ducks to me.  Working into Europe sometimes can be a challenge but sometimes they are in the bag with one shot.  South America is crazy as they will be 80 over S9 and they can’t hear a damn thing Donald Duck or not.  It takes a lot of time and effort to put a South American in the log.  You talk about deaf.

The moral is give me CW anytime.

With millions of Americans home I'm surprised by the lack of hams on HF.  In Western MA., where I live, I think I am about the only ham on 20 meters.

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a big jump in contestants for WPX, but we shall see.

With so many of us home, it sounds like there are going to be a LOT of participants in CQ WPX SSB this weekend!

As always, before you begin operating in this weekend's contest, please take a moment and review this pre contest checklist.  Most of the contest support questions I receive are from those who haven't.  I use it myself, every time.

Oh, I don’t know……..   guess it depends on where you look.  Over the past couple of days I’ve put over 70 contacts into the log, and I’m not really trying.  Mostly SOTA summits (39 of them).   In fact, I’ve gotten tired of sitting here on HF, going to run out to the JEEP and finish installing the new GMRS radio so it is ready for the next big expedition.  Whenever that is.

I had reason to text my nephew Andreas (Andy-DO5AL) this morning and he was deep into the contest there in Northern Bavaria.

Hopefully the photo of my saved log will be visible.  I have the box checked in save log every time I shut down AC log.  Two questions:
1.  The bottom two lines are shorter in length compared to all the top lines.  What are the shorter bottom two lines?
2.  What are the 4 numbers just before the .mdb?

Just trying to understand what I'm looking at.

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for your e-mail.  My software doesn't send any filter commands whatsoever.  Icom rigs change filtering when they receive a new mode command.  You can select the options on the rig interface form to not send mode commands (I use the option for CW).

Enjoy!

Using the CQ WPX Contest software with my Icom 7300, I noted that every time I tune to a frequency using the DX Spotting panel, the rig always switches to "FIL2". If I manually toggle it to FIL1, then change frequencies by clicking a spotted frequency again the rig switches to FIL2 again.  Is this by design?  Can it be configured to stay on FIL1?

Scott,

I am sorry to draw this out.  I can get to the rig control with another program.  What is happening with your program is that when I go to Settings and then to Rig Interface, NO CHOICES are presented.  I don't get to say it is a Icom and then choose model.  I get nothing at all.  I click on Rig Interface and it goes back to my logbook.  Appearing as though something wasn't loaded with my software load.

Scott,
Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately I have gone to that before resorting to asking.  The problem is that I should be able to go to Settings and then rig interface and have it give me a list of interfaces to select from.  When I go there, I have nothing, not one interface!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your e-mail.  You'll find the successful settings other icom 7100 users have sent along here:

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] rig Interface

My call is ND1N and I am a new user of your software.
I have had minimum of issues however, I want to interface my IC7100 to my computer and under "Rig Interface" in Settings I have no interfaces to choose from.
How do I obtain the program for my 7100?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Megan,

Clicking on the “Worked” column will copy the list to your clipboard.  Then just past it to whatever.

I found how to view the list of countries I have confirmed on 80 meters, but is there a way to export just that list?
