I had this problem a while ago.  What the problem was for me was the computer was going to sleep or hibernation mode.  Once I turned that off everything stayed connected.  Hope this helps.

You know, it very well could be my internet. We are out in the country and have no wired internet available. We have a microwave link, 8 mbps each way. It is slow sometimes with long latency. I'm giving that a high probability!

Thanks for the idea!

This happened to me when I had DSL and a local provider for Internet. The problem was with the provider. The Internet dropped out several times a day just for a few seconds. You wouldn't notice it for normal Internet use. But it was enough to kill the Telnet connection that served the DX cluster. So the problem may be your Internet connection. A call to your provider can check to see if you have any drop outs during the day. I now get my Internet from the cable company and hardly ever have that problem.

Hi tom,

It’s probably not ACLog that is hanging.  It’s probably the spotting cluster you are using.  Open up the DX spotting window (Cntrl-D) and disable/enable spotting.   Sometimes choosing a different telnet host will help.

I open up ACLog when I start up my computer and leave it running all day so I can see DX spots that come up.  However, after an hour or two (not a specific amount of time) it will stop updating.  I have to close the program and reopen it for spots to update again

Anybody else see this happening?

Thank, Tom K0YA

Hey Tom.  I had that problem after I placed a new computer into service.  I forget now what I did to fix it but I’ll try to dig through my notes to see if I saved anything related to the issue.

Good luck.

Hi Rino,

Thanks for your follow up.  Yes, if you rename Other6 to n3fjp_spcnum, those values will populate that field on ADIF import.

Enjoy!

Hi Scott, when I open the adif from the cwops contest log with notopad  I got this , I think it is a field tag,

< n3fjp_spcnum :4>1037      1037 is the cwops member number.

When I open the adif from my main log with Notepad I got the same field tag but also

< other 6 : 4 > 1037
<cwops :4> 1037

What I need is that when I transfer my contset log to my main log the number 1037 goes into my main log Under the cwops box ( other6)

If I copy the field tag <n3fjp_spcnum > Inside the other6 box will it work ?

I’ve tried different things but there is Something I do not do right.

Thank for your patience.

Re: AC log settings

Stephen,

Here is one way of doing it. You can temporarily disable the rig interface by doing this:

Temporarily Disable Rig Interface
Want to temporarily disable rig interface from the main form for searches, to enter other band / mode data, etc.? Press Ctrl + Shift + R.

The Ctrl + Shift + R is a toggle.

I’ve posted questions about this before but trying to have a better understanding of what is going on. Can you use AC log to log contacts when AC log is connected to a radio and that radio is not on. In rig settings when the AC log is on just to log contacts I have these settings:
Connection power - none
Mode - don’t use

When I use the radio and AC log the settings are these:
Connection power - RTS
Mode - Rig

Frequently when I’m using AC log (not connected to a rig) it won’t let me select a band or freq. it reverts back to what ever freq and band it was.

I think I’ve missed a setting somewhere. I understand that come from the rig but if the rig is not on??
Thanks and I hope I made this clear.

Most certainly.

If AC-Log seems to be remembering the last freq the radio was on, just type <CTRL>-<SHIFT>-<R> and it will disable rig interface. Then you can type in whatever freq you want. When you turn the radio on again, just retype <CTRL>-<SHIFT>-<R> and rig interface will be re-enabled.

Enjoy. Good luck and stay healthy.

I’ve got WSJT-X, JTALert and ACLog all working nicely together except for one annoying issue: the band has to be manually set in WSJT-X. Needless to say, I’ve uploaded more than a few QSOs to LoTW with the wrong band.

Is there a way to configure the three programs so that ACLog provides the band data since it is the only application directly talking to my K3?

Thanks
