Chuck,

From the FAQ on Scott's website:

I just bought a new PC! How do I transfer Amateur Contact Log and my contacts to my new computer?

Go ahead and download the installation file for AC Log, (now up to version 6.6) install it and then enter your password.

From the old computer click File > Export ADIF. Write the file to an accessible location to all PCs on your home network, or to a portable storage medium and take it to your new computer. From the new computer click File > Import ADIF and select the file.

Just register the software with your old call and password. If you don't have them, email Scott directly, not on the group.

Hope this helps.

New laptop needs N3FJP software download that's on old laptop

chuckgbunn@...

I’ve recently purchased a new laptop and need to transfer my files from old to new. I don’t have a CD to download my Amateur Contract Log Ver 6.1 program and I don’t recall if I went CD or downloaded vis the internet. I’ve had this copy for a number of years. If there is a product key I have no idea where to find it.

When I purchased the software my call sign was KG6SYX, I’m now AI6OZ, e-mail would have been cgbunn@..., it’s now chuckgbunn@....

Bottom line - I need a copy of Amateur Contract Log Ver 6.1 software and don’t know how to re-download the log from old to my new laptop?? or do I have to buy new software?

Hi,
New user. Yaesu FTDX101MP, running FT8, and using ACLog. Not using ACLog for rig control with FT8. When I log a QSO, using WSJT-X 2.2.0, the logging box contains the correct data, power etc. JT-ALERTS passes the data to ACLog but the power shown in ACLog is 0.1, which is definitely not what I used. Anyway to fix this? Maybe a setting I missed in ACLog? Thanks.

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] ACLog (or contest logs) Command Line Options for Startup

Hi all -

I use ACLog as my main logging program, but also do a bit of contest logging with various N3FJP logging programs.
I have all configured for rig control to work with my trusty little Kenwood TS-140S.  However, when using digital modes such FT8, the WSJT-X software needs absolute control of the serial port to the radio for rig control.  So, when I start ACLog, of course, I get a pop up error message that the software can't get to the serial port.  Click OK, all is well.

Is there a command line option for ACLog (or the contest programs) that will disable rig control within ACLog upon startup?  I also use JTAlert and it is configured to start both WSJT-X and ACLog at the same time.  Would be nice to have the whole suite of software start with no pop-ups.
It's a minor thing- call it "qualify of ham life" LOL!  If not, would be a worthy addition to a future release, in my opinion.

Thanks!

Marlo,

Just saw your note.

Select <Settings> <Rig Interface>.  In the "Select Rig" column, got to the top and select None.  You will have no more digital mode problems at start up.

If you want ACL to control the rig, you must go back and select your rig.

  Hello Scott,

 Sunday, June 7, 2020

Thank you, I had been playing with settings under the rig interface menu, so mea culpa.

I would definitely welcome the means to remove (hide) unused buttons from the menu options in a future release, for some reason I thought I had done this previously, but I am now of an age where I mistakenly think I have done lots of things previously :) All the best Scott.

I have been mainly active on digital LF for a few years but during the Corona Virus outbreak decided I should be speaking with real people while there are some still left :) I reinstalled your excellent software and put in my purchase key and all seemed well. But I have just noticed when I set "Band" from 20 to 40 or whatever, after a couple of seconds or so it reverts back to 20. The only fix I have found is allowing it to log the contact as of being on 20 metres then edit the entry and set it to 40 metres. I suspect I am missing something as I am sure this would have been mentioned a lot.

Finally, (and I think I asked this years ago), how do I remove unwanted top menus, I have very basic needs and would rather not have a lot of redundant to me menus that need horizontal scrolling to view. I messed about under Settings - Edit Fields Displayed but was unable to stop them showing, how do I remove them please?

Thanks for both excellent software and the excellent support that drew me back to N3FJP software.

Re: ACL now locks up after logging a few contacts

Christopher Scibelli

I have real-time logging enabled for LoTW but not for eQSL or Clublog.  That might be why I only had the problem once and you had it continuously.  If it happens to me again I'll shut off real-time uploading to LoTW.

Thank you, Dave KZ1O !!    I followed your instructions and disabled the "Enable real time" feature in ACLog for both eQSL and LoTW and I think that fixed the lockup problem I was having.  Tonight I logged over 25 contacts in a row with NO problems.  Apparently  the problem is with ACLog and the eQSL or LoTW real time logging.  I do not know how to fix that so I will just send my logs to eQSL and LoTW after I am through with  each session.

If anyone knows the solution to the real time logging problem with ACLog, please advise.  Again, THANK YOU, DAVE       73, Ray AA4EZ

Re: Using FD logging over the internet (not LAN)

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, you can use my software to log from remote locations over the Internet as distributed multi op, as detailed are here:

http://www.n3fjp.com/faq.html#q120

That said, with ARRL's 1,000 foot Field Day rule, the option above isn't applicable for Field Day.  Please see this FAQ here:

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your great FD Logging Software! My Club has used it for many years with our operators spread out over remote sites at recreation areas and county fairgrounds. We’ve used garage sale routers DD-WRT to keep in touch over our LAN and enjoy the friendly competition during the FD weekend.
I have a question about using it differently this year, as several of us older members are considering operating from backyard stations to stay safe during the Covid-19 outbreak. Can your software be used by distant operators over the internet, with live updating and file sharing like we did over our private LAN?

I checked, but didn’t find anything in the user groups on this.

Thanks and 73’s

Re: N3FJP ACLog import to SKCCLogger question

Tom NB5Q

I think I found the answer, the City field name in SKCCLogger is actually 'QTH' when I open an SKCCLogger export in the ADIF Master program. So I'm going to rename Other2 in N3FJP to 'QTH' and see how that works. I bet it will do the trick. I've been here before and Scott directed me to rename the field to match SKCCLogger exactly for the import to work (just forgot that I needed to interrogate the SKCCLogger exported file to find the true name of the field).
Thanks,
Tom NB5Q
