ALC-C is usually closer to your fingers when you are typing and contest users tend to use it a lot. Once you get the muscle memory trained it is just as quick, if not quicker, than ESC.

Hi Scott,

I'm not sure if I have asked this in the past. Apologies if I have. But the one little annoyance I have with the UI is that "Clear" is up with the menus instead of a button, like the Find button below the menu tabs. I think it would make it so much easier to locate and use. Please consider this enhancement request. :-)

Keep up the great work!

There are some awards programs that do provide operator credit if you log your operator call in the ADIF OPERATOR field and the call used on the air as STATION_CALLSIGN.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.  I never use the Clear menu option.  Try getting in the habit of using the Esc key.  It even eliminates the need for a mouse grab.

Hi Dale,  Good to hear you on this electronic medium!

I may not understand your comment, but when you use a special call you have to initiate
a new callsign  in LOTW for those contacts.  It sounds like you are trying to upload them against your
regular callsign.  Those contacts do not count for your regular callsign or awards, etc.  In
effect you appear as a different station.  You should not have logged them in your callsign log.

I'm not sure this even makes sense to me.  I would not have even answered if I had not recognized
you!

IC-7300 & IC-7851 Configurations for ACLog, FLDIGI, Winlink & WSJT-X

James Tills

Hi Jim and all the others in the Group. I have provided this to others so it sounds a little "canned", but you will love it. If you have any issues, E-Mail me and I will give you my phone number.
CUL & 73s   Jim   W7JWT

For your info, Here are my configuration settings. I use two USB cables from the computer to the rig, one to the USB-B port and one to the Remote port. The one to the Remote port is a FTDI cable needing no special driver. I bought it on E-Bay and the link is below. The other requires a driver, but it will download automatically when hooked up and the rig is turned on. You will probably need to uninstall the driver on that cable before you do this. I use ACLog as my logging software. If you don't, some of your settings will be different. I really like it and recommend it. ACLog needs to be selected to the Remote Comm Port and all Digital programs need to be selected to the USB-B Comm Port. To switch between all these programs, no settings require changing. It makes no difference what order you start the programs. The cables and Comm Port numbers stay the same. ACLog runs in the background supporting the other programs. It can even do DX Spotting while operating FT8. With the rig's - CIV USB Port setting set to "Unlink from REMOTE, you can use two separate Comm Ports to the rig and have no Comm Port conflicts. Everything works great. Hope this helps. Good luck.  CUL & 73s  If you need more help, call me at 509-680-4820.  Jim  W7JWT

One last thing. I DO NOT use FLRig. ACLog controls the radio for FLDigi. The other Digital programs do it themselves. This is another reason why I use two separate Comm Ports to the rig, one through USB-B and one through Remote.  On FLDigi, don't forget under Soundcard / Devices / Audio to select USB Audio CODEC.   CUL & 73s   Jim   W7JWT

I worked a contest with a 1x1 special event call sign and have a ,tq6 certificate for LoTW. When I download my LoTW log, I get the message, "You have downloaded one or more records that are not currently in your log. Would you like to download them?" Those are all my special event call contest contacts and they are, in fact, all my log, so I answer no. Consequently, none of them gets confirmed in my log. Would I end up with confirmations but duplicate log entries if I answered yes?

Hi Dale,

Thanks for your e-mail.  When you download from LoTW, the following criteria must match for the QSO to be found and marked:

- The callsign must match the call of the station worked.

- The band must match the band of the station worked.

- The date and time in AC Log must match the date and time on the LoTW record.

Any QSOs not found will not be marked, but you have the option to add them (which is the message you saw).  Note your highest record number before you do the download and then let AC Log add them.  If you don't want these records, just click File > Reset Counter and enter the record total before download.

Enjoy!
