Re: Import ADIF to VHF contest log: zero QSO points?

Dave

...and just to one-up that screenshot, I just looked a little later in the log, and there is this, FIVE in one minute:

I literally could not have done the logging, dupe checking, and scoring without this program and its highly optimized user interface riding along with me. It's just about perfect for realtime activity.

Import ADIF to VHF contest log: zero QSO points?

Dave

This past weekend I operated the June VHF contest on CW, SSB, FT8 and PSK. I used the N3FJP software for overall logging, but used other programs for the digital modes. Then I "exported ADIF" and imported these as I went. I switched back and forth a lot during the contest. I noticed that the "imported" QSOs showed zero QSO points. (I manually edited each one and it fixed it, before submitting my log.)

Is this the desired behavior?

My workaround was to manually log each FT8 QSO as I went along, that is, manually into the N3FJP software as the other program was sending and receiving the exchange. Some other issues came up, such as dupe checking after I started a transmission, and "oh no! I already worked him on SSB!" and so forth. I know this would probably work fine if I had the FT8 program "talking to" the logging program, but I don't. I was just wondering if the "import ADIF" giving a QSO point of zero is the desired behavior or not. Actually I can see good reasons for both.

By far, my experience this weekend was (again) the N3FJP logging software just doing its thing and getting out of my way. At one point my modest little station was cranking at 117 QSOs/hour and the software was faithfully letting me do my thing. I was scanning up and down the 6m band, switching between CW and SSB and the software just worked perfectly.

I grabbed my phone and snapped this to show what was going on at this end - yeah, three or four per minute! And not a single hiccup from the software, for the whole weekend.

Wow.

Dave KZ1O

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Please see this FAQ here:

Next time, please use the appropriate contest program from the start of the contest. I've worked very hard on all these programs to work specifically for the contest at hand and do their jobs well. You will find the individual contesting programs far superior and much more enjoyable to use for the contest event.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your good report on the Club Score Processor with Windows 10 Thomas!

The only other thing I can think to check on your XP machine is that your protection software is clamping down on the installer.  Giving the installer the proper permissions in your protection software will correct that.

Your club is going to LOVE watching everyone's score and combined club total on the Club Processor page in real time during Field Day, and other contests too!

Enjoy Field Day!

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I have responses inserted:

In a VHF  contest, when I am following someone "up the dial" from 6m, to 2m, to 70cm, etc, it would be nice if there were a way that I could just click on the station's call sign and have the logger fill in the fields with the same call sign and grid square and just change the band entry.  Maybe there is a keyboard shortcut for "repeat previous station" that I haven't found?

**  From the menu options, click Recall.

Is there an actual PDF or HTML MANUAL for the program?

I operate as a rover. Can VHF Contest Logger read info from a USB GPS unit so that the Grid Sent or <My_Gridsquare:4> field changes when I have driven to a new grid square?

**  My software isn't set up to read GPS data at this time.

Lastly, is there a way to Shift-Select or Ctrl-Select a bunch of log entries and mass-edit a single field for all of them? Like, if I forget to change my current grid square so the first 10 QSOs in the new square have the old "Grid S" data, can I select them all and change the Grid S field once and have it apply to all of them?

**  I hear ADIF Master is a great tool for that.  Details and other options here:

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your follow up.  Do not wait until Field Day.  Once set up, it requires no intervention whatsoever, but you don't want to be getting all that entered Field Day weekend.  Have everyone who will be participating in your club do an upload now, then enter their URLs and do a test to make sure all is okay.  You can complete that in the next day or so, and then move on to other Field Day planning.  Once set up, as far at the Club Score Processor, all you have to do is start it Field Day weekend and then forget about it.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your e-mail.  XP is way out of the Microsoft support time frame.  That said, as long as you have SP3 on your XP machine, it should run.

If you continue to have trouble, try a machine currently supported by Microsoft.  Remember, only one person in your club needs to run the processor, so as long as someone in your club has a Win 7 or later machine, they can run it.

Re: Power shows 0.1

Ken Gunther

When the log box pops up in WSJT/JTAlert there is an entry for power. Enter your power there. Next to the power is a checkbox that says "Retain". Check that box and the power will be the default for all subsequent QSOs.

One thing to try first - edit the last QSO, then actually close and restart AC Log.  If the problem still persists, you might want to ping the JTalert folks on that.

Good luck!

When I log a QSO, using WSJT-X 2.2.0, the logging box contains the correct data, power etc. JT-ALERTS passes the data to ACLog but the power shown in ACLog is 0.1, which is definitely not what I used. Is there a way to use the embedded memory functions of the WKUSB keyer with ACLog?

When I use the WKUSB 31 in standalone mode, I have my callsign programmed to insert a longer letter space after the first 2 characters.  I've been doing this for decades with my old CMOS 3 keyer, and it works great with the WKUSB using the /Inn command.  The A and E at the beginning of my call run together in normal spacing at higher speeds. Readability is improved by spacing them out a bit, but obviously not a word length or it wouldn't sound like a callsign.

What I can't get to work is inserting that spacing when programming memories with ACLog.
Are the many embedded commands supposed to work from PC logging software?

Thanks - Glenn AE0Q

Thanks for your e-mail.  There is nothing to place in the Club Score Processor folder manually, so I'm not sure you are following the directions.

Please provide an example of a URL that you have entered into Club Score Processor for download / processing.  Here is an example of one of ours:

Similar problem. I created the ftp user & folder, placed those in the Club Score Processor and it uploads fine. However it does not find any files to process for a summary.

Software is latest versions:
ARRL Field Day Contest Log 6.3
Club Score Processor 1.1

The root address of our site is 107.180.2.105 (www.WB0HSI.org).
The ftp for club score processor is ftp.wb0hsi.org
The target folder is contest.

With ftp.wb0hsi.org in the ftp: url, the processor uploads a summary without details, and gives several identical errors:

Clicking OK 5 times gets through the ack and I get:

However if I use FileZilla ftp client, I can see the ftp'd files just fine, so I know the folder is not empty.

To view the files in a browser (Chrome or Firefox) I use http:www.wb0hsi.org/wb0hsi.org/contest/W0KAH.html for my upload, or .../FD2020.html for the processor upload.

Web host is GoDaddy, although I had identical results with BlueHost.
I spent an hour on the phone with GoDaddy level 2 support and since FileZilla has no problem, they believe it's an issue with the Club Score Processor application.

I'm definitely NOT an expert at this so any help would be appreciated.
