Scott has a list of prep. steps to do BEFORE a contest starts. This stuff should all be checked and made sure it's working before the contest. Asking during, or after, is a tad too late because

It is your time, money and effort, but most hams don't QSL like they did 20 years ago, If you mail out hundreds or thousands be prepared for a low percentage to QSL back.
LoTW is the way to go in

You can always write the envelopes using longhand. I have never bothered with printing labels. I have Honor Roll but mostly use LoTW.
