Hello.

What is the Rec.Conf By, field, in the log and what does "C" mean?

Thank you.

SORTING
It's really nice that clicking on the columns in ACLog sort the columns.
However, it doesn't sort properly if I select a non-default date format.
Is there a workaround for this?

SEARCHING
Is there a way to search fields other than the Call field?

Thanks

I migrated my log data from Excel to ACLog.
The entire log has already been uploaded to LoTW prior to migrating to ACLog.
My Excel log didn't contain any confirmation data from LoTW thus there are on confirmation in ACLog at this point.
Now that my log is in ACLog I'd like to update it from LoTW with the confirmations.
How is that done?

ENTER = TAB?

Can ACL be set up so that ENTER tabs in rather than enters a new entry?

Re: Entering Data From Paper Logs

Yes, Bobby is correct. I entered all of my old data using Fast Log Entry. It is then easily placed in ACLog by importing the ADIF file.

You can find Fast Log Entry here:
https://df3cb.com/fle/

Interestingly enough, I got a handful of LOTW confirmations back into the 80s...

Also look at "Fast Log Entry" program, if it's still available. I used it to enter some old contest logs and it was fine for that. I think it creates an .adi file you can import.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, click Settings > Date Options and select Last Entry Date.

For Time Off, click Settings > Time Off - If Blank, Log Current Time so that it is unchecked.

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] Entering Data From Paper Logs

Hi Scott,

I have two paper log books spanning 2019 - 2021 that I'm transcribing into my N3FJP computer log.

As I manually input the older data, is there some way to get the program to remember the last date I entered rather than automatically picking up the current date every time?

Also annoying is that it automatically enters the "Time Off" for the QSO as the current time.  Is there any way to disable this feature as it is immaterial as I enter each of my older FT-8 QSOs?

I've got about another 1,000+ entries to make and it's really becoming annoying to have to reenter the date for every entry!

Tnx in advance for the help,

Steve

Hi Scott,

I am doing the same thing for my logs from 1962 - 1965.  I am using a totally separate log so I don't have issues with my current log.  Once I have them all in, I will upload to LoTW, and them merge the two logs.  This may help you.

Bob,

Thanks for your concern but I have been using internal soundcards since 2008 when I got my first Elecraft K3 and put it on AFSK RTTY.  I never use Windows sounds, they can easily be turned off.  Even in this instance, Windows sounds weren't the issue, the logging program issuing unwanted (IMHO) sounds to the default card was.  I could have multiple sound cards, but this program uses the default regardless.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the follow-up.

I have a simple setup; a low-bucks computer with an internal soundcard, the default.  The only mode I use that transmits via that soundcard is WSJT-X, which I use reluctantly.  As I think I made clear, I'm not selecting, or using any audio out of your program, other than what is out of my control.  If you can provide that control, great; otherwise I think I have the workaround.

Hi Scott,

Okay, I've found a workaround.  First, I don't have speakers connected to the computer, so I was unaware the program was outputting audio. I can either disable the speaker output in Windows or turn off data VOX in the radio.  Either might have unintended consequences TBD but it fixes the immediate problem..

That said, why can't I just turn off the sound in your program?

When I set Keying Options to None and see "Sound Card Only for F key voice files" I conclude there is no audio going anywhere.

It appears your rig is detecting the audio from your sound card and causing it to go into transmit.

If you can't find the source of the problem and you can't set your PC audio to a different sound output device, you can always replace the existing duplicate.wav file with a brief recording of silence (you can't just delete it as the software will replace duplicate.wav, if not there at all, but it won't overwrite any changes you make to the file).

Hi Scott,

The only thing the program should be doing is reading the frequency from the radio (TS-890).  I am using VOX and a microphone.  Nothing else; no messages, no spots, etc.  Keying Options = None.

The issue occurs even with VOX off.  I did have an instance of ACL running (I'm chasing other DX) but I shut that down.  Same problem. I was using VSPE for port sharing.  Shut that down and used direct* connection.  Same problem.

* In the TS-890 the port is a virtual port using the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART bridge if it matters.

But I accidentally hit the TAB key and the program put my radio into transmit for a second or two.  Is this normal and if so, why?  I do have Allow Dupes turned off, so I can see the program not allowing me to log the contact but it should keep its hands off my radio.

Hi John,

Thanks for you e-mail.  AC Log has always optionally put the town / city in the Comments field.  There has not ever been a separate QTH field in AC Log.  While you can create a QTH field using one of the 8 Other fields, there isn't a way to map data to a customized field on direct download from a callbook data source.  We will give that some thought for the future.  The customized field will accept values on ADIF import if you name the field the ADIF tag.

I'm sorry that I didn't have the answer you were hoping for.

I am trying to figure out why I don't get an automatic download fill of QTH town/city information downloaded into my current ACL V 7.0.3.7 from the QRZ.COM HTML site. I did not get it in the previous version I used (7.0.2?) either.
I get all the other data downloaded in ACL but no town/City location.    I read Mike Olbreschs query the other day and I see on the user group site there is a Field for Current Location now.
I don't have any such Field when I go to the settings> edit fields displayed, Position and Tab order >detailed form layout dialog box.  I had been using another Tab (Other 2) which I had relabeled QTH which would
not download fill information. I then located a QTH GROUP field which I moved next to my previous Other 2/QTH labeled tab.
When I make a QSO, I get proper downloads for all fields EXCEPT the QTH tab/QTH Group Tabs.
What am I doing wrong?  I was going to revert to 7.0.3 as Mike did, but the download site now refers to 7.0.4 version.  I don't want to dig my hole any deeper without some guidance.
