WSJTX integration in VHF Contest #wsjtx

N4FWD

Great job on the integration of the wsjtx support into the VHF contest logging. I connected my Raspberry Pi (running with GPS disciplined time) to the N3FJP Logging and it worked like a charm. The coloring of the callsigns in the left panel made it easy to find the maidenhead squares which I was lacking as well as the callsigns which I had already logged.
Thanks to the link up of N3FJP to wsjtx, I more than doubled my score as compared to last year's June ARRL VHF contest.

BTW, Scott, your callsign having a black background was easy to spot on the band. Clever!

Why a Raspberry Pi station? No need for an Internet connection to operate FT8 / FT4 - although a network connection is needed to talk to N3FJP Logging.

ACLOG on 2 computers

Dennis Wage

I am fairly sure I can do this but wanted to post here for any hints on making sure it works ok.

I can run WSJT in the shack and in the house remote. If I install ACLOG on the house computer can I simply point it to the N3FJP shared log folder on my shack computer over the LAN?

Thanks 73

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your follow up.  I'm sorry that you are still having trouble.  There haven't been any changes to the software scoring and no other problem reports.  I just double checked and version 6.6 is recording 2 points properly on 1.25 (222 MHz) here.

Would you please send screen shots of your setup form and your main form.

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Click Settings > Setup and select June VHF QSO Party.  Then make sure you are operating on eligible bands.

You will need to correct any QSOs already logged.

Be well and enjoy!

Got'em :)  Working on entering some old paper logs into an spreadsheet, convert to ADIF then import, so I have worked from that list, prefix lists, bureau lists, and good old google.  Kind of fun going through the old logs though - wish I had take better notes and written neater.

Hi Shawn

I think I have an easy fix for you. You seem to indicate that it is just a few records. if it is this is how I would do it.
1) highlight the individual record
2)edit
3)more
4)change  the value in "dxcc adif #"
5)done

hope this helps

Good morning!

I recently imported a contest log file from another program and I
noticed several records weren't assigned a DXCC value in ACLOG. It
appears that the value is assigned Based on matching name(s) in the
Country file list.  Specifically, Canary Islands & Fed. Rep. of Germany
did not receive a DXCC value.

What is the best way to correct and not risk corrupting my log? Can a
create an ADIF file with those records with the missing DXCC value,
correct them, and then import them?

This isn't a huge deal, but I spent many years fighting/fixing
missing/incorrect data at work (as well as eliminating/consolidating
multiple locations of the same  data) and my OCD has been triggered! :)

Re: Moving contact log data to new computer

Scott Davis

Hi KG5KS,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Unless you have logged some QSOs as PH and you want to keep them that way, which is unlikely (you probably want SSB anyway), you can just go with the mode mapping defaults.  If you want to ensure that all mode values are unchanged, deselect all the mode mapping options.  Complete details on moving AC Log to a new PC are here:

Yesterday I did my first POTA activation. I used HAMRS on my Apple Mini to log my contacts and did not have any cell or internet connection.
ACLog is my main log for all my contacts. When I am home the program gets QRZ information for contacts.
Is there a way to get the QRZ info for these contacts which I just imported into my main ACLog file? I would bring in their locations if possible.
Thank you.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.  Coincidentally, along with everything else, Chris and I have been working on an additional support option that will use artificial intelligence to answer basic questions and direct users where to find our documentation for more extensive answers.  That will eliminate the delay inherent in awaiting answers to e-mail, allow us to focus more time and energy towards making our software even better and give users freedom to ask whatever they like without cluttering everyone's e-mail.

We've been at this AI project for a while now and we hope to have more information for you on that very soon.  In the mean time, you can always use your browser's search option on our FAQ page to find answers to all the commonly asked questions:

I totally agree. Was attracted to ACL many years ago because it reminded me of the ARRL paper logs I used from the beginning. East to use, intuitive, the ridiculously low price and amazing upgrade work makes it a no-brainer for new, casual and serious DX/contest hams alike. There are some great logging programs out there  but my consistent choice is N3FJP Software. It’s been with me ever since they introduced it and very comfortable - and old and reliable friend. Like my ‘99 TJ Jeep - my wife drives the newer one but I prefer and enjoy old Wrangler, manual roll-up windows and key door locks included!  Kinda wish The N3FJP gang could do updates on it like they do on all their logs, but …….😂
