FYI.

There is nothing slow in the logging from JTAlert to ACLog. It happens within milliseconds. What is slow is how long ACLog takes in actually writing the QSO to its physical log file after receiving the API instruction from JTAlert.

Likely the physical writing to the Log file, which JTAlert uses to confirm the QSO was logged, is being delayed due to ACLog post logging activity, like online log uploads or post logging xml queries. There is nothing JTAlert can do if the physical writing of the QSO to the log file is delayed, that is outside the control of JTAlert., If this is a frequent enough problem, than it is best to turn off the QSO confirmation check in JTAlert.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you ran into trouble.  Your Internet protection software is clamping down on those files / AC Log.  Giving the program and files the proper permissions in your protection software will correct that.

Be well and enjoy!

Scott,
Obviously don't know what I'm doing with the new version.  Had problems with the Beta Version so I downloaded Version 7.0.  Now, when I try to open ACL, I get the attached error messages.
Can you help?

Message 2:

- Support for the 13 Colonies annual event

13colonies.PNG

- States lookup for DX Spotting (and WSJT-X)

- Support for the free Hamdb Callbook Lookup service (which includes USA, Canada and a few other countries)

- Grid is now returned with the free Callook lookup service (grid is already provided in most other callbook lookup options)

- Right clicking on the main form's Spot Last button provides the opportunity to add a comment

- Improved saving and loading of main form's ListView column widths

- Flex: On change freq, now sending freq before mode at users requests.

We'll have lots more details in tomorrow's announcement e-mail, but the basic setup for WSJT-X is detailed here:

You can install AC Log 7.0 from this download page now, or wait for the automatic prompt that I will likely enable tomorrow.

Thanks so much for all your help and testing everyone.  There is a lot that went into this release and we really appreciate all your thorough review and support!  Thank you!

Re: Change print out order

Larry Banks

Hi James (call?),

I’ve never printed out my whole log – I have over 40K contacts.  But I do print out every one of my contest logs so I can keep track of confirmations.  Here is what I do:
  • Bring up your whole log (click “All” to the right in the blue ribbon header)
  • Click EDIT >> Copy Current List to Keyboard
      • In my case, I highlight the subset of Qs I want, and use “Copy Selected Records to Clipboard.”
  • Open up Excel
  • Paste (You will have ALL of the information columns.  I paste this raw data to another spreadsheet page just to have a backup copy. )
  • Delete the columns you don’t need
  • Format the columns/spreadsheet as you want
  • Order the columns as you wish
  • Print
As you have this in a spreadsheet, you can reorder the columns many times and print different versions.

I may have answered my own question, but it's too soon to tell. I don't connect to QRZ or any other outside site, but I noted this morning when I woke up my computer that there were two instances of ACL in the task bar.  I closed one of them but I haven't had time to make another QSO to test the communication.
