Amateur Contact Log 7.0 is On The Website!
Scott Davis
Hi All,
We may not have the official announcement completed until tomorrow morning, but Amateur Contact Log 7.0 is now on the website! We will engage the automatic upgrade prompt when we send out the announcement, but Chris, Kimberly and I would be very grateful if you can go ahead, download the program now and give it one more good look!
The new features in 7.0 include:
- Easy, direct, integration with WSJT-X that can directly color codes entities in WSJT-X
- Support for the 13 Colonies annual event
- States lookup for DX Spotting (and WSJT-X)
- Support for the free Hamdb Callbook Lookup service (which includes USA, Canada and a few other countries)
- Grid is now returned with the free Callook lookup service (grid is already provided in most other callbook lookup options)
- Right clicking on the main form's Spot Last button provides the opportunity to add a comment
- Improved saving and loading of main form's ListView column widths
- Flex: On change freq, now sending freq before mode at users requests.
We'll have lots more details in tomorrow's announcement e-mail, but the basic setup for WSJT-X is detailed here:
http://www.n3fjp.com/help/digitalsetup.html#wsjtx
And if you would optionally like to set up multicasting, where several programs are directly connected to WSJT-X simultaneously (not via intermediary), those details are here:
http://www.n3fjp.com/help/wsjt-x-integration-with-n3fjp-software.html
You can install AC Log 7.0 from this download page now, or wait for the automatic prompt that I will likely enable tomorrow.

Thanks so much for all your help and testing everyone. There is a lot that went into this release and we really appreciate all your thorough review and support! Thank you!
Enjoy!

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the information. When I saw your screen shot it was a "duh" moment, why did I not know this. Works just fine. I guess I will go back to using /M and /P again. 73 Dick - KC3EF

Re: Change print out order
Hi James (call?),
I’ve never printed out my whole log – I have over 40K contacts. But I
do print out every one of my contest logs so I can keep track of
confirmations. Here is what I do:
As you have
this in a spreadsheet, you can reorder the columns many times and print
different versions.

Re: Slooow logging from JTAlert
I may have answered my own question, but it's too soon to tell. I don't connect to QRZ or any other outside site, but I noted this morning when I woke up my computer that there were two instances of ACL in the task bar. I closed one of them but I haven't had time to make another QSO to test the communication.

Re: Slooow logging from JTAlert
Hi Wes,
I see this now and then when I have lost my connection to QRZ. Do you
have that enabled? If so, are the “comments” the last item that is filled
before the Q finishes loading?

Re: Slooow logging from JTAlert
Scott Davis
Hi Wes,
Thanks for your e-mail. I'm sorry that you've run into trouble. The only related setting in AC Log is to enable the API. From that point on, AC Log merely listens for the transfer from JTAlert, so you would need to touch base with the JTAlert folks on that.
If you continue to have trouble, we will soon be releasing AC Log 7.0, which provides a direct connect option to WSJT-X and is plenty fast. Be well and enjoy!

Spoke too soon. Just tried again and all is ok for me. It didn’t work for about three weeks but is. I hate these types of issues.

I would be interested in what issue is as from my home network I cannot reach n3fjp (site timeout). If get on a different network it can reach it. Only n3fjp is the one not reachable all other sites are ok.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the good report. Yes, the control is only one way. If they both try to take control, an argument ensues! :)
Thanks again!

Yes, i had 6.9.4.3 on the computer even though i downloaded the beta at 6:12 PM (eastern) yesterday. I thought i had the newest one because i downloaded it after i saw your email about 4.4. I downloaded it tonight at 5:16 PM and got the the 4.4 version.
Anyhow, WSJT is now keying the rig and changing the bands from the WSJT program. I'm having some funky problems with the audio when i switch to the "no rig" configuration in WSJT, but i don't think that is anything to do with ACL.
BTW the frequency change is only one way, that is WSJT can change the rig's freq, but changing the rig's freq either manually or with ACL is not reflected back to WSJT. I will get the audio thing figured out tomorrow.
Thanks for the assistance.

Re: Upload problems
Scott Davis
Hi Jay,
Thanks for your follow up. Sorry you're still having trouble. Go ahead and upload some QSOs directly using ARRL's tQSL software. Once you get that configured properly, AC Log will be able to hand tQSL the records you wish to upload. Be well and enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen. Am unable to access it today here in the Colorado mountains, where it is snowing by the way. Maybe our provider has one of their links down (it used to be UUnet, have no idea who it is now!). All other sites are accessible. If it’s still not up later, I’ll contact our provider, Peak Internet. 73 y’all, George N0̸GM
