The 9600 baud rate sounds suspiciously low. I suggest you check in the radio’s menu system to see what it is actually set at.

Hello,

I am trying to poll my FT400XDR using N3FJP's VA State QSO Program, unfortunately it does not read the units mode or frequency. I have an FT991a and got that working easily.

COM port 9600 N81, tried hardware and no flow control

Thanks for any assistance.

Sometime after one of Microsoft’s security updates I could no longer install contest logs and was getting an error message that Windows 10 could not locate the log file.  I reported this to Scott and it was surmised that the issue was with OneDrive.  I won’t go into the long process I went through with OneDrive but other applications had begun to exhibit strange behavior like failure to save or being unable to launch new apps after installing.
This morning I discovered the culprit:  Windows Defender.
The security update had activated Controlled Folder Access in Ransomware protection.
I am running the current version of Windows 10 Professional.
I turned off the Controlled Folder Access and now all is working.  Additional thanks to Matrix Games UK for helping debug Close Combat The Longest Day, an application that I was on the original development team for.
4 weeks of work, installing, reinstalling, recovering, doing it all again and again and it was just one toggle to turn off...
BTW, I was not going to log with any other application - N3FJP is the best!

Re: Search question

For me, I am on 6.8.6.1
and I hit CLEAR to make sure all fields are clear,
put in Band    2 for 2m
Hit SEARCH
(I do NOT use Rig Control, set to NONE)

1,000 of 4,652 Records Listed.  Continue Listing?
Your search query is returning 4,652 records.  To continue listing, please click yes.

If you have Settings > List Matches for These Fields with Tab enabled, some fields, such as Country and State, can generate very large lists.  For faster response, you may wish to disable the automatic listing on tab for these fields.
Under Settings > List Matches with Tab Select

Call is checked
and Don't List Own Country (to speed listings on tab with large databases)

I unclicked Call
same results

I unclicked "Don't List Own Country"
same results

Settiings > Rig Interface    set to NONE

???
Am I doing something wrong?

If I click on Date entry field and it automatically inserts today's date,
and click on SEARCH
it brings back only today's call log entries
So SEARCH works on some fields

Thanks for the replies.  I wasn't aware of the rig interface needed to be turned off with, or that it is done with Ctrl-Shift-R.

After pressing Ctrl-Shift-R I get a message indicating 'Rig Interface Band and Mode Tracking Disabled' but a band search still doesn't seem to be working properly.  On some band searches I get a few (not all) my contacts on the requested band, and other bands a search produces nothing.  I still must be missing something.

When I click on a DX spotted station, my K3 is set to that station's frequency.  At that time the TIME ON field is populated.
Since calling DX stations sometimes takes a while to actually make the contact, I have a couple of questions -

When I click LOG CONTACT  is the TIME ON recomputed to the time that I logged that contact or does it retain the initial value?
If the latter, is there a way to force the TIME ON to be recomputed?

Thanks

Doug,
Thank you for the post. On my computer I can boot up and then start ACLog/Contest Log immediately after boot up and have it happen or it comes up fine. All modes of Sleep have been disabled.
Once in a while, I do get a Defender Message about Local and Internet Connections but even that doesn't stop it. Also it doesn't do it every time I boot. Also, I can leave the computer up, have the screen shutdown, come back later, wiggle the mouse, the screen lights up, and ACLog is still running correctly. Once ACLog or Contest Log comes up with no Server Error or I do a restart if it does, it will function 100% until I turn off the computer.

Aside from DX multipliers being limited to NA, isn't the NAQP software exchange and scoring exactly what you were looking for?

I use Scott's CWT logger for the SST.  The scoring is a bit different.  But it is easy to work around.  You only get to count a state or dx as one multiplier.   So if you work two stations here in Oregon you only get to count one as a multiplier.  But since no one checks the logs and specific entries are sent in it really does not matter if your "score" is off a bit.  I think for this event the number of stations worked is more significant than the score.  go ahead and use the CWT.  Maybe someday Scott will be able to add a check box that tells the logger if you are in the CWT or the SST.  the logger will give you a score based upon the box checked.

Because that is the way databases work. They store and display records in the order entered. It is up to the user to do further manipulation to suit their needs. You already have the answer on how to do that. :)

Hi Harold,

After entering an entry into your log after the fact, i.e. not live during the QSO, click on "File" in the Menu bar, then click on "Sort on Date."  This will put all your belated entries in date/time order.

CQ WPX SSB Next Weekend = Great Club Score Practice for Field Day!

Scott Davis

Hi All,

Just like Field Day last year, many club members will be operating from their individual stations again in 2021 and combining their scores under the temporary ARRL Field Day waiver rules.  Last year, lots of clubs used my free Club Score Processor software to see how each person in their group was doing in real time and everyone loved it.  Even more importantly than providing a real time, combined club score and club leaderboard, it is one of the great tools that keeps us together, sharing the experience virtually!

The Club Score Processor isn't just for Field Day.  In fact, we run it for all the major contests with our club, including CQ WPX, which also happens to be club contest eligible.  More details on the rules for CQ WPX are here:  https://www.cqwpx.com/rules.htm
And my CQ WPX Logging software is here:  http://www.n3fjp.com/cqwpx.html

Once set up, the Club Score Processor is simple to run, but there are some configuration steps for first use.  With CQ WPX SSB coming up next weekend, this is a great opportunity to give the Club Score Processor a try for your group!  That way, you can work out the kinks with CQ WPX SSB, so you will be all set up and ready to roll when Field Day arrives!

The free Club Score Processor and all the setup details are here:

http://www.n3fjp.com/clubscore.html

I've written a good bit about how clubs can contest together virtually in previous posts in other ways as well.  The Club Score Processor is great to run for every contest, but that's not the only tool in the tool chest.  You'll find additional ideas, such as using a real time text chat room as your virtual clubhouse here:

http://n3fjp.com/news/news2020-05-06.html

Be sure to take advantage of CQ WPX SSB next weekend, not only because it is a great preparation opportunity for Field Day, but because it is a heck of a lot of fun!

I hope to work you in CQ WPX SSB next weekend!

I would like to know why if you add or update a contact it stays at the top pf the log. What I mean is I added a contact with a past date and when I put it in the log it stay at the top as if that was the most recent contact. Once I close the log and start it up again that contact is not in order with the date it was put in. For example: I do POTA and I work a station at K-8089 (Great Kills Park State Recreation Area) I log him. Check log next day on POTA site and he logs me twice K-8089 and now K-0680 (Gate Way Recreation). So if I add K-0680 with the same date/time as K-8089 It don't group. It stay at the top of the log. Is there a way to keep it in order?

Thanks
