Maybe it' there but I did not find it, say I type N3FJP in the call box(or click on the dx page to get the call sign)
then I get all the information available, but for some reason, pile up etc... it take 5 minute before I can get N3FJP
when I log the contact
instead of changing the time in the time on box, before logging the contact, a little box inside the time box could be checked to log
the contact using the computer time at this moment instead of the time that was there when I look at
the information 5 minute ago.

work the very best here, I didn't have to but I created a log for dx marathon with the same configuration as my main log. So I can work station I need

but it was fun to try.

Hi Steve,

The sequence goes like this:

1.  Click the Check Box to enable repositioning.  You are then prompted to give the configuration you are creating a file name:

Capture.JPG

2.  Customize to your preference.

3.  You can now click Settings > Edit Fields Displayed > Load Settings to select any of your customized settings:

Capture2.JPG

You do actually have to move at least one control before the new file is actually created.  I will take a look at that.

Scott,

Went directly from the original 6.8 to 6.8.6.

Going into the Edit Fields option the only thing there is Load. Checked the box to Enable positioning and get the option to save. Saved. When going to Load, there is no EFL file in the AClog directory. Tried creating another of the same configuration with a different name, figuring that maybe if there is only one, it is treated as a default. Still no EFL file.

What did I miss?

When I click the settings tab the only thing that pops out is the "load configuration" tab. When I click it I'm taken to the installed ACLog folder, looking for an EFL file, but the folder is empty. Did I miss something?

Re: Everyone - Please Test Screen Sizing in AC Log Beta 6.8.5!

Scott Davis

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your great report!  I continue to test here with 3 different monitors, including one 4K, and have tried just about every combination of my monitor supported resolutions.  All continues to work very well.

I do want to give thought to the network form, but that one is going to be tricky.  My son lives next door and we use the same antenna farm, so while we don't use the message feature much, I do size down the form to only display the bands, like this, so I can make sure we don't overlap:

Capture.JPG

So, if I added the form size code as is, the whole form would scale down, but display the part I don't need to see.  I need to give thought to how I can scale and still support both use cases, without generating a lot of support e-mail questions.

Thoughts welcome!

Scott,
Tested the newest beta version of ACLOG.  I can now put the logger at roughly 1/7th the size of a 4K monitor  on the Windows 7 machine and with increased label font size and log font size, it is totally usable.   SWEEEEEET!
Works fine on W10 as well.
Double clicking on the title bar brings the logger back to full size.   This is working great now.

I did not check the LOTW screen.

Could I put a request in to add the same code to the NETWORK / CHAT pane that you have when you run multiple clients networked together?
Many FD sites and contest sites (including mine) run this pane open  in the background so we know what bands the others stations are on, and use the messaging feature A LOT to notify when folks are changing ops, when a station looking for you is moving to work you on another band, when the food arrives, etc,  However, when any message is sent to all stations that network / chat screen pops up "full screen" and blocks the view of anything else on the monitor, which is very problematic when a station is on a run.  The operator has to stop working stations, click out of the network screen to go back to the logger. Once in a while it is not a big deal... but, what usually happens is the stations on the lower bands get bored and start chatting back and forth via your network/chat page.  This forces the guys on the higher bands (with more activity) to have to constantly move away from the logger, minimize the chat window, then back to the logger as the chat messages pop in .. bing, bing, bing, bing.. It gets annoying fast.    If the chat / network screen could have this same sizing code it could be sized smaller to fit NEXT to the logger and not take over the whole screen for each and every message update.  Everyone could still see the messages, but not have the pane take over the whole screen.

That would be totally awesome.

Well, since you're asking i will add my 2 cents.  I have tried 6.8.5.1 and 6.8.5.2
I have a pretty plain jane setup, 2 monitors set at 1920 X 1080 on one PC and a laptop with a 1920 X1080 display.
I prefer the 6.8.5.1 method that changes the font based on the width, not the .2 version which uses a height scaling.

Re: If I Created a POTA Log?

Scott Davis

Hi All,

Thanks for all of your thoughtful input on the features that you would like to see in a POTA log.  With two different POTA groups requiring different fields, requests for various field layouts, desires for callbook lookup, LoTW upload and other features not in the contest software, requests for the ability of user customizations, etc., it quickly became clear that building a POTA log off of my contest software template would never suffice.

Since all those features are already available in AC Log, it's been very encouraging to hear many folks comment that AC Log already supports POTA really well now.  With that in mind, to help support POTA even more easily using AC Log, I've been working on the ability to save and load any number of data entry configurations, that you can customize in AC Log, any way that you like.  That way, you can save one configuration for your POTA activations, one for home, etc.  I think I have it working well and I would really appreciate it if you would give it a try!

Now, when you click Settings > Edit Fields Displayed and check the check box to configure, you will be prompted for a file name.  Then go ahead and customize as you like.

To load a previously saved configuration, either from the main form, click Settings > Edit Fields Displayed > Load Configuration, or click the command button on the configuration form to do so.

You can install 6.8.6 Beta from this link here (no need to uninstall the previous version):

I’m running ACL 6.8.5.1.

Columns in the logsheet must be re-adjusted each time I open ACL. Your FAQ says after 4.0 changes will be saved automatically. Apparently that’s not happening here.
At full screen size, Rec#, Date/Time, Snt, Rec, and Off columns on my screen are truncated (341…., 2021/03/09  18:…., +…., +…., 18:….) and must be resized manually.
On closing ACL and re-opening ACL,  the same columns are truncated.
Also, down in the entry field portion of the window, I have Time positioned under Call. Time however is truncated from hh:mm:ss UTC to hh:mm: UTC.

The entry field heights seem to come in three different sizes, none of which are adjustable. Also, entered text seems to get the tops cut off by the entry field banners.

In the Menu selections row at the top, the lower 25% of the Menu titles (File, Edit, Settings, etc.) are cut off by the Recent Contacts banner.

There so much dead space below the entry fields. Is there a way to bring up the bottom or bring down the top edge without having the whole log get compressed? Same goes for bringing in the sides.

Well selecting the Flex API solved a lot of my problems and I was able to operate and log using the ARRL SSB DX program last week-end.  Only issue is the Fkey recordings didn't operate.  I'm setting up for the OKQP this week-end and have my recordings ready for F!, F6 and F7.  My CQ on  F1 works great when I hit the test button but not when I use the keyboard F keys.  Any advice would be appreciated because I'll be running in the OKQP  and last year was quite active for me but it was a handicap not being able to use the Audacity recordings.  Thank you  Russ K5ZZR

I don't need to click on Spot last because the spot appears automatically. but not the comment I wrote in. I wonder if this has to do with using the dxspots telnet vs the ve7cc? Actually I just switched from dxspots to ve7cc and spot was placed again!

Hello Kimberly and Scott -

During a slow periods in this past weekends DX contest I was looking at
my logging program features that I don't normally use.

I found one under HELP, the Frequency Privileges listing. While tuning
around for QSOs it dawned on me why certain entities were

"not to be heard" in our band segments. Their privileges are different
than ours. I should have realized that being licensed since

1963 and operating in OZ where I am VK2RSG but for some reason it did
not connect.

At some time in the future when you folks are looking for a new feature
(HaHa) would it be possible to set up a chart or some sort of

access for other entities?. I know I am dreaming with how busy you are
so, might you know of some sort of existing program where

one can click AUSTRALIA, SLOVAKIA, SCOTLAND, PAKISTAN or wherever and
get their info?
