Re: Open Ukraine RTTY championship

Scott Davis

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your e-mail.

All of our contesting software is contest specific. Each program is specifically designed with one contest in mind. You are of course free to use the programs for any contests that you like, but finding an existing program that will support another contest will be quite difficult.

Even if you find an existing program with an identical exchange, there are other parameters you'll have to check as well. For example, are the points counted the same per mode? Do you work the station once, once per band, once per mode or once per band and mode? Will the existing program create a Cabrillo file that the contest sponsors for the other contest will accept? What are the multipliers - states, sections, countries, counties. etc? Are multipliers counted once, once per band, once per mode, or once per band and mode. The list goes on!

As you can see, there is a lot more that goes into preparing Amateur Radio contesting software in addition to logging a specific exchange. I'm doing my best to create contest specific applications that each perform their intended function very well, so they generally are not adaptable to other contests for which they were not designed.

If there is a contest that you are interested in that I currently don't support, please touch base and let me know. One of the criteria for adding contests to my future projects list is the amount of interest users have for a particular contest!

Be well and enjoy!

Any idea which N3FJP contest program I could use for the Open Ukraine RTTY Championship?

Exchange is state + serial #  ie  PA-001  I believe it is a 4 or 5 character exchange with state and serial combined.

Thanks

I have spent hours last year and in January "fixing" records, one at the time by manually adding the "L".

It is a bug in ACLog.

Re: Can I use multiple instances of AClog using Virtual Desktop Win 10

Scott Davis

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your e-mail. We are not familiar with Virtual Desktop so maybe some others will have some helpful insights for you. Another alternative is to try this approach, written with multiple family members in mind.

Give each family member their personal Windows user account. That way, AC Log, the log file and all the individualized settings are saved in each family member's personal user settings. It will be as if each family member has their own personal copy of AC Log, all on one PC! By the way, one registration is fine for your family.

Details for setting up your Windows User Accounts are here:

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] Can I use multiple instances of AClog using Virtual Desktop Win 10

Hello All

I am looking to get rid of screen clutter (2 monitors still not enough) and came up with the idea of using Virtual Desktop.

What I wish to do is have the following setup

Virtual Desktop 1 with all my FT8 related programs open - ie JTDX, JTAlert, Gridtracker and Aclog for auto logging

Virtual Desktop 2 with all my cw related programs open - win4icom keyer logging directly to Aclog, cwskimmer etc.

As both Desktop systems (FT8 and CW) log automatically to Aclog I would like to have Aclog open in both virtual desktops at the same time so I can simply just click on either virtual desktop and be ready to go in FT8 or cw as required.

So my questions are:
Can AClog operate in this manner and still log correctly to its log data file
When I open a 2nd instance of Aclog I get the warning that com port XX is denied because it is in use by the the open Aclog on the first virtual desktop - can I overcome this by just selecting an unused com port for radio control (win4icom offers a 6 way radio port split)
I also get a second error message saying the TCP Application program interface has an error as it is sharing a port with the first Aclog in Virtual computer 1 - again - can I change this port in the second instance and get operational.

If the above structure is not possible is there another way of doing what I wish to achieve here

Cheers and Thanks

I don't know why this occurs every time.  If I have uploaded it, why is trying to upload it?

In my case, the uploaded LOTW files aren't all marked as being uploaded.  Since they are uploaded, can we have an option to mark all uploaded as "L" when the bug shows up?

Just to clarify, If you use the Files-Download..., you don't need to "download all three files." The software does it for you.

Kimberly,

When I did this earlier I had just imported 24 new WSJT-X contacts from this morning and uploaded them to Eqsl & LOTW then chose exit.
I noticed ACL immediately shut down vs the 2 seconds it normally takes.
I can't say why but just now I downloaded from LOTW and the backup worked just fine.
?????????????

Thanks much

Hello everyone,

I have just noticed another problem I have not had before.
ACL is not writing a backup file to Drive "D", the thumb drive I have
designated as the permanent backup file location.

I have formatted a new 2 Gb thumb drive, reset the backup options and
still no backup.

In the past when I have chosen to 'exit' from ACL, not 'X" to close the
program, there was a 1 - 2 second delay before the program actually
closed, now ACL closes immedately.
The regular backup is still being written but this backup is not.

I am running 6.8 and did not try the latest beta test that Scott asked for.
The last proper backup was done on 2-26-21.

Re: Fix LOTW bug

Buck McDaniel

Let me start this thread all over with all the information I have to date.

When I got up this morning, I opened ACL and uploaded all new contacts to LOTW.
(No, I didn't have any new contacts to upload, but I do this twice a day.)

As you see in the picture, I clicked "All Contacts Not Uploaded" and got an error on KT2TJD's QSO.
(Ironically, he's also my neighbor. )

The error "Already Uploaded" pops up.
image.png

When I ignore, I get the following message:

image.png
ACL is trying to upload QSOs already uploaded.
Why is ACL uploading uploaded QSOs???

Here is why:
This is one of the offending records (see image above):
image.png
Notice that there is no "L" in the box indicating that it was uploaded to LOTW?
When I search for Keith's call in my log, ACL shows QSLs sent for all of his contacts.
image.png

Then I pull up an older record that has already been sent and confirmed by LOTW:
(Same ham, different date):
image.png

The "L" is in the records ACL is NOT trying to upload to LOTW:

For me to fix it, I have to find all records without an "L" and add the "L" manually
one record at the time.

It is my theory, that ACLog does not always add the "L" to records it uploads to LOTW.
This indicates that ACLog has a bug that needs to be fixed, not LOTW (well, at least not this bug.)

Any idea which N3FJP contest program I could use for the Open Ukraine RTTY Championship?

Exchange is state + serial #  ie  PA-001  I believe it is a 4 or 5 character exchange with state and serial combined.

Scott,
The second beta is working well for me.
I did have to increase the font sizes so that the text does not get too small when I grab the corner and reduce the size of the window to about one fourth of the monitor space.  Main list font is set to 14, text box is 18.   After I set the font sizes and grab the corner of the window to reduce it to my ‘normal’ size… I then have to stop and restart ACLog so that the headings and titles are properly sized and the bottom of their text is not overlayed.  Then as long as I don’t resize the window again, everything stays okay thru subsequent stop/start cycles.  At this point the changes are a definite improvement.

Re: Canadian Provinces

Larry Banks

Hi Dale,

Provinces in Canada are the equivalent of States here.  Many countries have “states” of one sort or another.  ACLog is useful internationally, so it recognizes these.  I believe you can turn this on or off.

Of course, in the contest loggers various “states” in other countries are multipliers too.
