Hi Scott and the Group

Just want to say that it was super easy operating and submitting my log for the CQ 160 CW contest. Your software made it more enjoyable. I look forward to using it in more contests in the future.

One question, I had a conflict with F key operation between my Flex SDR and ACLog. I had to mouse click to get ACLog CW choices to work, if I used the F Keys it would use the text set up in Flex SDR. Any idea how to manage that so I can use ACLog F Key vs. Flex?

What is the procedure for clearing previous QSO's from a contest log in preparation for the next contest? I would back it up and write it all out to ADIF and Cabrillio files. Then just delete everything?

Thanks

I was using Winter Field Day Logger.

I had too many USB connections for my laptop. And I plugged in a USB keyboard lamp, Rig Control (that I just got working with my TS-50), Keying adapter, Signalink USB, Mouse.)

I used an old powered hub that I have had for years. When I plugged in the keyboard lamp I transferred the keying adapter and the rig control to the hub. Later, when I plugged in the Signalink, which wants adequate power, I transferred my moue to the powered hub and plugged the Signalink directly into the computer.

Every time I keyed the radio with my microphone PTT or my code key, or the Signalink, the system would go crazy killing all the com ports as well as my mouse. I had to spend time reactivating the ports and finding my mouse again.

The computer told me that the USB hub was unrecognizable. I took it and the USB lamp out and plugged in the rig control and the keying adapter directly as well as the mouse. Joy!

Then I thought I would try to set up for digital, so I unplugged the keying adapter and (eventually) plugged in the Signalink. I brought up FLDIGI, and after I figured out the missing connections, I got it working and it was asking for frequencies and receiving the actual frequency. I need to work on how to make QSOs but I think it was working. I decoded some CQs. Now to work on answering.

As I could not see much action so I wanted to go back to CW and SSB. There was notice about a missing COM5 in the Transmit CW. I unplugged the Signalink and plugged in the CW adapter. Message kept recurring. It was toward the end of the Field Day period, so I did not want to shut down to repair the COM port.

Rig control was still working so I tried to type a new frequency into the CallSign Field. After every digit, the notice about the CW Com port recurred and had to be acknowledged.

I could not find the checkbox to check or uncheck saying enable this function. Could I have turned it off?

Next time I am going to have to think carefully of what I connect to the USB ports. That recurring message made the program nearly unusable.

Or is there a reliable powered USB hub available?

Thanks

Walter,
Welcome back!  I was only a year or two ahead of you, getting back into ham radio after retiring.  Much has changed, much hasn’t.

Just like you, I love the N3FJP software — just used it in the 160M CQ DX contest and it is much more fun than 15 sheets of scribbled upon paper I used to use.

I exported the contest log, then imported it into ACL, then upload from the ACL menu to LoTW.  I also use the file to upload to QRZ.com which allows recent contacts to see that they’re in my log.   If you are into a map, QSOmap allows you to put your contacts on a color map.
Good luck,

George NGM

I recently upgraded my PC including a new hard drive. So, I made a full ADIF log file export and saved a .mdb backup file as well which captured the status of the logs just prior to pulling the plug on the old machine.

So, here's my question: Are there any differences between using these files (ADIF v. mdb) to restore my logs? I did a quick test of both approaches and didn't see any differences that were obvious to me. However, I want to be sure that I'm making the best decision regarding the file restoration.

Hi Duane,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you ran into trouble.  The mode mapping feature does not have an option to map SSB to a different value.

Next time, when your rig is returning an invalid mode for what you want to log, either press Ctrl + Shift + R to disable rig interface, or Ctrl + Shift + M for Mode Override.

When I first tried to upload my CQ 160M contest results it kicked out the field which had age. I deleted that line out of the CVS file and was then successfully able to upload.
