ACLog Field Fill for Names
WA7WS
New to ACL. I am currently in the process of adding my old .adi files to ACLog.
One of the nice features of ACL is auto lookup of names and filling that into the Name field. Is there a way to get these old non-ACL contacts to include the names? All are .adi's and are in the log. All other information was populated properly. I'm sure if I get into other areas like specific contesting I might like to see other areas populated as well for areas like WAS, WAC, Grid Squares, etc. Thanks for any help. Bill

However, I have added a field in ACL that I would like to be in all of my new files. Is there a way to mass populate a range of fields as you would in something like a text edit format without using text edit? In other words.. something like typing the information on one line and doing whatever magic to fill the rest of the column from a specific record to another record.. let's say 100 records. Hoping so... or it would take a couple of days of nonstop copy and paste. Thanks, Bill

It’s now up to a 13 hour delay. The CQ WW DX contest is one of the
largest. If you uploaded your Qs before last night at about 7PM, your
confirmations ought to be there. I always check the queue before I log
into LoTW: http://www.arrl.org/logbook-queue-status

As a follow up to my previous email I did more testing. Because of my business I have access to numerous wireless WIFI routers which connect wirelessly to cell towers. I set up two other WIFI routers in addition to the one I normally use and switched from one to the other and so on seriatim several times. Each time I switched networks I heard the audio notification that ACLog was trying to reconnect to the cluster and each time it did successfully!! Just thought I would confirm that the beta was working A-OK. My cluster has not gone down yet but it may be overloaded and grind to a halt this weekend. If I ever notice a re-connect to a second cluster I will advise. I really appreciate this improvement.... in fact, one of my most appreciated. 73, George K4GM On 11/24/2020

You have done an excellent job on the auto reconnect feature. Today I installed the beta and left the PC all afternoon until a few minutes ago (7 hrs). When I returned my preferred cluster was still there and ACLog was still downloading spots. For the last month or so I have been plagued by quick disconnect of the cluster, usually after only a couple of hours. Thanks! I have not had a disconnect yet so can't speak to that, but I will do so if and when one occurs. 73, George K4GM On

Hi Gang,
I've been working on enhancing the DX
Spotting reconnect functionality in my
software. In addition to automatically
attempting a reconnect with your currently
selected DX Spotting Telnet host, if the
reconnect attempt fails, it will then try
the next host in your list.
This is a difficult function to test,
as aside from unplugging and replugging
the LAN cable to simulate a disconnect, it
is tough to simulate all the scenarios
causing a disconnection. I think the best
way to test this is for as many of us to
run AC Log, as much as possible and see
what occurs if / when the Telnet site you
happen to be connected to goes down.
If you would like to help test this
feature, would you please uninstall your
current version of AC Log from Windows
Control Panel and then install this
version:
It will say Beta 6.7.1 in the title
bar.
Then click Settings > DX Spotting
> Configure and check the Auto
Reconnect option here:
If you have the ability to simulate
a connection loss, awesome.
Otherwise, just let AC Log roll and
see what happens. There will be a
text to speech voice letting you know
if there is a reconnect attempt or a
new site is tried. You will also see
text on the DX Spotting set up form of
the attempts.
If you leave the PC, make a note of
the host you are connected to and see
if it is still the same site when you
return.
Thanks in advance for your help
with this!
Please let me know how you make
out!

penumbra, I must pose the following queries, all on the DOWNLOAD side:
** QSOs confirmed by the other station since the date entered.
** All QSOs since the date entered.
** The most like cause is that you aren't running AC Log 6.7.
I ask these because they drive me nuts PLUS I am afraid of breaking LoTW's
computer:
** Real Time upload will upload the QSO as soon as you press enter from the main form.
** To ensure you received a complete download from LoTW.
** Used for debugging.
** Replaces existing data. Not recommended.
I and my dearth of intuition thank-you.
** Much of this is covered in far more detail on this page and in this video here:

** Enjoy

Can't connect to LOTW for downloads
Bill Seward
I've suddenly developed a problem downloading data from LOTW in ACL 6.7. I seem to be able to upload OK, but not download. I updated TQSL to version 2.5.7. I've double-checked my login info in ACL. I can log into the LOTW web site. LOTW shows as up on Down For Me. I'm attaching captures of the 2 error messages. The first message is a 503-Server Unavailable, the second indicates an incorrect response from the server or username/password. Suggestions?

I am too stuck in the Queue. With the RTTY Contest a couple of weeks ago, I waited a couple of days before I looked to see if my file was listed in my account. Once I saw my file, I had ACLog do a download and WHAM confirmed contacts and the rest were Green with a Y for sent. JoAnn AB8YZ

DXCC credits consolidation and tracking
I shouldn't mention this here but still hope there is a solution.
I use the good ol' ACL and try to keep up with my DSCC credits, QSLs, etc. But getting it and LOTW or CLULOG to agree is impossible. I thought LOTW contacts automatically went toward your DXCC certificate, but I did something there and it cost me $36 to get some credits. A fee and 10 cents per credit. Anxious to see if that bumps up my credits. Keeping track of the paperwork is a chore. Mailing DX QSLs & $, sending to the bureau, etc Some like the HRD logger. Is it any good? If so I'll import ACL into it periodically to 'balance the budget' Help appreciated. -- 73, Bo W4GHV since '54 https://www.qrz.com/db/W4GHV

GA Scott,
This morning after I had done my processing for the CQWWCW contest, I started up the N3FJP logging software to upload the ADIF file. Much to my surprised, the program presented itself as a “newly installed program in that I had to provide a password (which I had) and then do the setup. It also created a brand-new empty database.
Since I use Microsoft’s file History program, it was not difficult to jump back to Nov. 27th and download the files. There all seem quite well and I uploaded the ADIF file with no problems. I then opened the LOTW in your software and did an update. I waited until late this afternoon and did a query on LOTW expecting 400+ entries to be returned with the “Sent” value to be a “Y”. But nothing came back. Tried several times even changing the QSO RX DATE and still no joy. The following is what I did received.
