Hi Scott,

Hope all is well on your end. I downloaded CW Teacher this weekend and must say that I think is is terrific! Am starting to use it to relearn the code with the goal of becoming a CW operator for the first time in my 33 year ham radio career.

Thanks to you and a lot of cheering on from my dear friend Milt, N6MG, it’s gonna happen this time.

Thanks again for making this resource available to the ham community.

All the best,

Re: ACLog and IC 705 Issue

Scott Davis

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your e-mail.  The rig interface protocols for all Icoms are identical.  Set your 705 to the same rig ID that you are using with the other software and you will not have to change the rig when you change software.

Enjoy!

I did get it working, as a workaround. In the screenshot I included the speed in it at 115200.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm not familiar at all with the 7000, so I can't speak to its menu tree to enable DTR keying, but if it has a USB port, it should be evident on the rig.

Enjoy!

In his discussion of CW keyer interfaces, Scott mentions “modern” Icom rigs (7610, 7300) as not needing an external keying device. Is the IC7000 considered “modern,” and if so, where does the USB cable connect to the rig, please.

thanks

Re: Canadian provinces

Hi John,

Thanks for your e-mail.  You can optionally have AC Log populate the State field with entities outside the US on LoTW downloads and Callbook lookups.  Click eLogs > LoTW and check this option:

Is there a way to have ACLog automatically display the province of a Canadian QSO? Or at least list Canadian provinces along with US states in the State drop down when logging a VE QSO?

II looked through some other threads about my issue and can't seem to get it resolved. I just purchased the IC 705 and I have rig control working with DXLabs, N1MM+ but no luck with ACLog. I use ACLog for POTA and really need my rig control. I changed the hex to A4 (see below) without any luck. My baud rate on COM8 is set at 115200 so the Spectrum display works with N1MM+. If I click on Command to Read Mode it takes me to 21446 and I can change modes. Is the 705 going to be supported fully in an upcoming release? Any ideas what is not set correctly?

Re: ACLog and IC 705 Issue

Scott

Hi Larry,

I tried using the strings FE FE 98 03 FD and FE FE 98 04 FD with no success. I went into Menu/Set/Connectors/CIV and changed it to 98H and magically it saw the radio. So that is the workaround.

However, N1MM and DXLabs Commander stopped working because of changing the Hex in the CI-V. So, what I did was save the ACLog settings on the SD card, and I have the default settings for the other programs that use the correct 4A hex saved to the SD card in another name.

Hopefully in a future release this is fixed in ACLog. I use the logbook for when I activate Parks on the Air. However, 5 days ago I had my left knee replaced so it will be a while before I am able to activate a park and use ACLog. At least I now know what to do and hopefully this helps others who might face the same dilemma as I did.

Hi MIchael,

I tried changing to 00 in the string FE FE 00 03 FD and FE FE 00 04 FD with no success. I only have the IC 705 hooked up to this computer.

John,

Check your mode control settings in rig control. Set it to none.

Hope this helps.

Scott,

Is it also possible to include the section tag on the map to show where the sections are located?

I usually print an 11x17 but it would be great, in my opinion, to have this included.

Hello All,

Had to do a full reformat of the laptop.  I've downloaded WAE software and as soon as i open it, my IC-7300 starts TX right away.  Only way to stop TX is to exit WAE.

What am I missing. I use like RTTY

Re: AC Log: "Contest ID" field?

Scott Davis

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Sorry, no, since AC Log was not designed with contesting in mind, it doesn't have an associated data entry field.

I'm sorry that I didn't have the answer that you were hoping for.

Enjoy!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] AC Log: "Contest ID" field?

One of the fields in AC Log is "Contest ID" -- at least, I can see it when scrolling horizontally across my data. I wanted to add it to the main data entry form via "Edit Fields Displayed..." but it doesn't appear on that list.

I know that field gets populated when I transfer data from one of Scott's other contest programs, but I thought it would be useful when I am logging a few QSOs in AC Log during a quick sprint. Is it just not possible to have that field appear on the main data entry form?

Connection  Power should be "none"

I use Hex 98 for my 705 and 7610 they set up the same except for the comport.

Make sure the radio is set for "98"
