Sent # Jumping?
Anybody know what wrong here? At q # 164 my sent number jumped to 254. I did not notice it for several q down the log. It maintained perfect sequence for the rest of the contest, but still 90 numbers off. Should I submit “as is” as that was what the computer was sending to the other station? Did not happen at a band change nor a time off. Can’t figure. Dale K8TS

Geography I was lucky to work Prince Edward Island during Sweeps this weekend. I think it is so cool that when I enter the call the software knows the section. I may not know where it is though, because the place I thought it was did not indicate I had worked it on the map. It is in the log. I am using version 7.1. Did I miss something or is PE in the wrong place in my mind?
Thanks and 73, Joe kk0sd

Re: CW distorted in ARRL November SS

My sending with the function keys did not work 100% either requiring a restart a couple time. I assumed it was RF in my laptop (Using a winkeyer as well).

I'm using November SS 7.1 for the first time this weekend. Generally it's really good, but after 4 hrs I started to have a frequent problem. Hitting F4 to send my call would send distorted CW instead, like multiple strings were on top of
each other. Once begun, it would not end until I closed the program and reopened it.

I'm running an old desktop with Win10, 4Gb RAM (maxed out) and the motherboard soundcard. The CW is through a WinKeyerUSB, V2. This setup has worked fine up until now. I used to contest with N1MM+ on this same gear without trouble. The Rig is a Kenwood TS-590S and I'm connected to the USB port for everything. I have a vague impression the trouble starts if I hit the F key just as buddy starts his CQ again, but I can't swear to it. -- David VE4DL

Hi Fred,
Judging by the pre contest e-mail uproar, once the contest starts, I think you will be impressed with the amount of activity.
Enjoy, and good luck getting the sweep!

Re: Laptop / paddle layout
Fred K2DFC
For a contest like this you really should consider rig control and keying through the software. You won't need the key at all. Send everything from the F-Keys. You'll also make about four times as many contacts that way.

One last question before the contest If you are using a mouse with the software and you want to enter a contact, where do you do that? I don’t see an enter button. I realize I can hit enter key on the keyboard.
Thank you a lot. I am excited about using the software for the first time over the weekend

Thanks for the reply. I had figured that part out. What I find "odd" is that if I change the set up for CW, it will change the set up to CW for every log. I am referring to the blue box in the lower left next to tracking time and band. So is this normal behavior? It doesn't change the mode of contacts already in the log, which is great. But it appears that the software assumes that the next contact for any of the logs will be in the mode most recently set up in the most recent log. It's like the mode that you set the log up in doesn't stay fixed with the originally set up mode. It changes based on the most recent set up. It appears that mode set up is not independent for each of the logs one has set up, but it applied universally to all of the logs based on most recent setting. Does that make sense? Just want to make sure I am not missing a setting somewhere and this is normal behavior for the software. Thank you Russ K3Pi
